Avatar f tn My doctor knows that I have taken 4 HSV tests and that they all came back negative but I am just worried because I research mouth infections. It scares me cuase all websites say that the causes for ulcers could be bacterial, or viral. So I just want to be sure.
Avatar n tn If you temperature keeps fluctuating, going up and down, you may have an infection which may be a bacterial or a viral one. It is still worth making an appointment to see your doctor to check you out. If the doctor feels it is a bacterial infection, you will get prescribed with an antibiotic. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Avatar f tn I went to see my GP and he said it was an infection of some kind, either viral or bacterial, and I didnt need any antibiotics and just to try corsodyl mouthwash, I did as he asked and over time I noticed the blisters/ulcers were still there, so went back a few weeks ago, I was given some hydro cortisone buccal tablets she said if they didn't work she would refer me to a ENT, she didnt seem to know what they were.
Avatar m tn I mentioned to my doctor that one a few occasions in the past couple of years I will get one or two white ulcers in my throat or inside of my cheek that look identical to the ones on my labia and they cause severe pain, then go away within 24-48 hours (they test negative for strep). He wasn't sure if there was any way that could be related.
Avatar f tn jpg I first noticed these ulcers when I had a sore throat 3 months ago. I went to my GP and he told me they were either due to a viral or bacterial infection and would go on their own. He told me to gargle Corsodyl. I did and they haven't changed. I have also tried gargling salt water, L-lysine but nothing has helped at all.
Avatar f tn We have been to dermatologists, regular dentists, an oral surgeon, several medical doctors, an ENT specialist, an Infectious disease expert and have had biopsies done several times and no one knows. According to tests, these are not bacterial or viral and are not contagious. But we have the same sores! Often the sores start out as little "dots," or tiny white or yellowish circles with reddish outline and they grow into ulcers.
Avatar m tn i read some where that gargling salt water wud ease the throat pain but it made it even worse .. has any one heard of pple getting sore throat and throat ulcers as an ars symptom ?? or could it be some other oral std ( we engaged in deep kissing for about 30 minutes and she usually gives unprotected bj to all her other clients ..
Avatar m tn What could be the cause of these spots? Is this a standard bacterial or viral infection, an aphthous ulcer or symptoms of acute HIV phase? I am slightly worried because I started sleeping with this man about 6 weeks earlier and once was unprotected (I was receiving). I was tested for HIV 24 days from the suspected high-risk encounter with a negative p24 antigen test. And now I have to wait another month before being able to get fully tested again at the 3-month mark.

Avatar m tn I have had issues with my stomach since I was 16. Diagnosed with ulcers, but after a long painful road, finally had my gallbladder removed and diagnosed with IBS. Since then, I have learned what to eat, not to eat, ect. Now, 6 years later, I realized something. Every time a viral infection comes around, I get it in the gut, literally. Every stomach bug I catch no matter what precautions I take. In the past year, I also began to catch step throat, which I never got before. Had it 3 times!
Avatar f tn Hi, It is possible that you are suffering from a throat infection which can be viral or bacterial in nature.Take some over the counter medications like chlorpheniramine or cetrizine for symptomatic relief. Drink plenty of water and fluids. Steam inhalation may provide some relief. If it is a bacterial infection antibiotics may be helpful. If the symptoms are severe or persistent a clinical examination may be necessary. It is suggested to discuss your concerns with your attending ENT specialist .
Avatar f tn Other than that the symptoms can also be due to viral infections. The most likely cause is Ebstein Barr virus (EBV) or infectious mononucleosis. However, other viral infections can also cause blisters, including herpes. Hence, it is important to test for infectious mononucleosis and herpes. However, of the two, EBV infection is more likely to cause swollen lymph nodes. Viral infections cause cold sore or fever blisters.
Avatar m tn Hi there, I have developed a few symptoms which are confusing me and looking for some guidance from the forum, I recently had fellatio performed on me by a woman, After a few days I encountered two very painful penile ulcers with a very distinct but foul smelling odour, this was painful and I also encountered ulcers in my mouth, A week after this I visited a GUM clinic and was tested for all STD's including herpes, hiv, chylamdia, syphlis, I was advised to have acyclovir and subsequently
Avatar m tn I found a symptom checker for you, and I put in all the symptoms you mentioned. There are several possible causes. I do not like antibiotics without good cause, but usually if I am that sick, my doctor thinks it's bacterial even when it's negative for strep, and starts antibiotics. It usually does turn around quite dramatically. You did not mention the color of any phlegm you have seen.
799959 tn?1239293294 ibuprofen wont do much for a sore throat, if you take a tylenol or something with acetomenophen it is an anti-inflammatory and will bring the swelling down off your throat...try gargling salt water and drip honey down the back of your throat...and if you dont feel better in one or two days...
Avatar f tn s a lot of days for a sore throat. Sore throats can be viral or bacterial. A viral sore throat is such that the main thing you can do for it is home care. This includes gargling with salt water, drinking warm tea, extra fluids in general, extra rest and ibuprofen or Tylenol. But viral sore throats usually resolve on their own within 7 days, fyi. Bacterial sore throats require a trip to the doctor.
Avatar n tn I meant that I got ulcers due to the tissue trauma of cleaning. I know of many people who get lymph node swelling from ulcers, as they are inflamatory in nature. It could also be because ulcers may be due to some unknown virus. As for the recurring ulcers, I am not particularly worried about them per se, as I have always had those since I was very young and so it cannot be any viral infection, unless there as indeed a virus for ulcers as assumed by some dentist.
Avatar n tn On Feb 1 I developed a severe red scratchy throat, and I still had several mouth ulcers. I took Augmentin 500 3x/day for 10days. After the 10days I still had a sore throat that feels like an ulcer down my throat, and I also still had about 10 mouth ulcers as well as swollen gums. I went to my Internal MD and he put me on Medrol dose pack and Levaquin. This initially helped w/ the mouth ulcers but the one down my throat got much worse. I was given a Celestone inj and put on Orapred.
