However, severe sore throat plus oral ulcers with regional lymph node inflammation suggest you may have acquired oral herpes during the sexual encounter -- i.e. HSV-1 by kissing or, less likely, HSV-2 if your exposure included cunnilingus. Although oral ulcers indeed are sometimes reported in conjunction with ARS, they are less frequent than most other ARS symptoms.
Does the Combivir point to any of these symptoms? I realize the light sore throat and neck pain are probably unrelated.
Do any of these point to HIV seroconversion? Would the Combivir lessen the side effects of seroconversion? Or is it an "all or nothing" type thing, where I would be getting full-blown symptoms of the PEP was not working?
If I finish the treatment of Combivir and my liver/kidney function fine, are there any longterm implications of the 28-day course of the drug?

I feel very sick and all this sickness and symptoms lead to Hiv and undetected.
Have anyone experience being sick and test done which changed after 3 months of the exposure.
On Feb 1 I developed a severe red scratchy throat, and I still had several mouth ulcers. I took Augmentin 500 3x/day for 10days. After the 10days I still had a sore throat that feels like an ulcer down my throat, and I also still had about 10 mouth ulcers as well as swollen gums. I went to my Internal MD and he put me on Medrol dose pack and Levaquin. This initially helped w/ the mouth ulcers but the one down my throat got much worse. I was given a Celestone inj and put on Orapred.
After 2 weeks from exposure, i had runny nose and mouth and throat ulcers. The runny nose have gone except the mouth and throat ulcers and thus feeling a sore throat.
I am really worried. Should the ulcers and sore throat be combined with a rash or fever to be a symptom of hiv??
When can i take a typical antobody test the earliest time after exposure??
I had pain in all the lymph node locations knee elbows,neck,armpits,ankles,hands,fever,sore throat,pain in al the muscles,joints,headache georaphic tongue,ulcers on tongue and gums,pimples on the body,diarrhea,pain in fingrs.Symptoms start a 1 month after exposure ad keep coming on and off since then.
After 18 months o neg. test I had unprotected sex with my gf and 1 month later sh had all the symptms as well.
Is it a delayed case ofHV or a diffeent strain?
My guess is, that unless a swab test was taken from your throat that was positive for HSV 1, your doctor was covering all the possible diagnoses for ulcers in the throat and that would have to include HSV. Does your doctor know that you tested negative for HSV 1 repeatedly? Do you know if you had a swab test from the ulcers and what the result was?
If this is not HIV, then all these moth ulcers+sore throat and the swollen gland could be from another STD. I considered going to a gynecologist but considering this is throat-related I decided taking a bunch of genital swabs won't really help (I go every 6 months and so far everything has always been fine). What type of a doctor should I go to if I suspect having an STD in my mouth (I know it's embarrassing but I actually don't know)?
That's doesn't really sound like typical asthma symptoms, with the addage of swelling, sore throat, etc. I'd probably take the time to make an appointment for yourself.
I had unprotected sex around early January and a few weeks later developed a mouth ulcer. I have never had a mouth ulcer before and was wondering if this could be a sign of an acute HIV infection. I dont' have any of the other symptoms...no fever, rashes, sore throat, swollen lymph nodes...etc.

Long story short, I was on vacation last week and went horseback riding for the first time Friday. I noticed after, I was so sore and uncomfortable. We flew home Saturday and Sunday i saw small ulcers on my vagina. One on my outer 'lip' and a couple on my perineum. No blisters, just sores. They aren't red or anything. Then I started to feel like I was getting a fever and I noticed my throat had white spots on my tonsils and it's hard to swallow.
Had an upper gi where I swallowed the barium. Report came back normal: No ulcers or anything unusual seen. Problem is I am still having the symptoms of burning in chest. Now I have noticed the pain and burning is in my upper center back also. Have an odd feeling of something in my throat too that makes me cough periodically. Stopped taking ppi's because they were not working. What can I do now? I am so sick of this constant feeling in my chest and back.

I've never had a canker sore before and I was not really overly stressed or anxious (until I noticed these sores). They appeared first as little dark red spots and then turned into these white sores with a red ring around them the next day.
She complained of flu-like symptoms and a sore throat in the few days after we had unprotected sex and oral sex and no suspects she has oral thrush which she has had before but she isn't sure.
I've never had herpes sores and in fact no ACTUAL symptoms. What are the chances of her contracting oral herpes from me?
