Throat problems when talking

Common Questions and Answers about Throat problems when talking

throat

Avatar n tn It appears that when you speak and start to cough, the throat is aggravated by an irritant. Coughing is the body's natural response to get rid of irritants. The voice needs to be looked after like any other organ. Keeping it lubricated by drinking enough fluids (not alcohol), avoiding irritants (not always possible), not shouting, but knowing how to throw the voice without straining the larynx and resting the voice.
Avatar m tn (as one learns in voice training) yields atonal growls -Must use excessive muscular effort to project my voice across a room -Pitch instability when sustaining a pitch and drastic voice breaks when sliding from pitch to pitch -Feeling of discomfort, inflexibility, strain, almost like a grinding feeling in my throat when talking at normal pitch -Voice very quickly fatigues (within a minute or two of talking) After quick googling, I would think it was vocal nodules.

Avatar f tn I had a bad cold and then got laryngitis. That lasted 3 weeks and then the 4th week my voice came back but still hoarse. I have pain on my left side of my neck and tenderness on that side when I swallow. Dr checked me out and said throat is not red and gave me pills for acid reflux. It's been 4 days and don't think its acid reflux....voice and neck still the same. Anyone know what it could be ??
Avatar f tn I still am swollen and taking my steroids and antibiotics. The only complaint that I have is that when I talk to much (never) and or sing, my throat feels like it swells up, is that possible. I know the choking feeling she said could take MONTHS to subside, (torture for someone with anxiety issues). Oh and the other things was, she wants to wait 4 weeks to ck my levels, should I have them done sooner.. I had a right lobectomy that was Papillary Carcinoma.
Avatar n tn Thanks for the reply, The amount of mucous is getting better. I am still getting Short of Breath , esp. when talking or eating, I actually get lightheaded like I am hyperventilating. I am still running a low grade temp. I don't really feel anxious - more tired. I talked to the surgeon Mon. afternoon and I am to hold my Cytomel for 1 week. I am getting a litttle disgusted with this sensation. Like you, the pain from the actual surgery was nothing.

Avatar f tn My 2 year old son is not talking. He says 3 words (thank you, Spongebob & look) but not even mommy or daddy. He will be 3 years old this November 19. He will point and make a whimper like sound for something he wants to communicate, but if its something he can't have it will get ugly real fast. He will throw a fit big time. Since he does not talk its hard to communicate rules to him. He does not seem to understand of doesn't care to listen.
Avatar f tn People on here were talking about choking on food, etc. Some people mentioned that they also had terrible pain. I found something on the web while I was looking for other info, about glossopharyngeal neuralgia. It can be triggered by swallowing, chewing, laughing, speaking or coughing.

Avatar m tn I have put myself on vocal rest, and have been keeping the talking to a minimum. I also noticed that when I sing, my larynx goes up really high. What could this be? Will it go away? I know I strained my voice, but does it sound serious? Are there any exercises I can do to relax my voice, and use the right muscles to talk and sing? How long should I remain on vocal rest? Should I stop practicing for the play? I can't see a doctor until the end of September.
Avatar m tn Symptoms of GERD include heartburn, chest pain, sore throat, chronic cough, and wheezing. Symptoms are usually worse when lying down or bending. Foods that can worsen GERD symptoms include peppermint, fatty foods, alcohol, coffee, and chocolate. Yellow stool can also result from insuffient bile output. Bile salts from the liver gives stool its brownish color. When bile output is diminished, it often first appears as yellow stool.
