Throat problems when talking

Common Questions and Answers about Throat problems when talking

Avatar n tn It appears that when you speak and start to cough, the throat is aggravated by an irritant. Coughing is the body's natural response to get rid of irritants. The voice needs to be looked after like any other organ. Keeping it lubricated by drinking enough fluids (not alcohol), avoiding irritants (not always possible), not shouting, but knowing how to throw the voice without straining the larynx and resting the voice.

Avatar m tn (as one learns in voice training) yields atonal growls -Must use excessive muscular effort to project my voice across a room -Pitch instability when sustaining a pitch and drastic voice breaks when sliding from pitch to pitch -Feeling of discomfort, inflexibility, strain, almost like a grinding feeling in my throat when talking at normal pitch -Voice very quickly fatigues (within a minute or two of talking) After quick googling, I would think it was vocal nodules.
Avatar n tn 2008, I began experiencing a reoccurring sore throat after talking at social functions. I have had persistent sore throat from post nasal drip in the past. I have also been noticing recent mouth dryness when awaking. However, this reoccurring sore throat is lasting longer and now seems to be most noticable after talking. Is this a likely symptom of compression from the nodule/s or from increased mouth and throat dryness?
Avatar f tn Then there are the times I geel like I have a stick in my throat or something blocking my ability to swallow. When that happens I usually can't eat. Also when I eat I need to be careful if I am talking because I'll start to choke. Just wondering if others have had it? Have a great weekend.
Avatar f tn I still am swollen and taking my steroids and antibiotics. The only complaint that I have is that when I talk to much (never) and or sing, my throat feels like it swells up, is that possible. I know the choking feeling she said could take MONTHS to subside, (torture for someone with anxiety issues). Oh and the other things was, she wants to wait 4 weeks to ck my levels, should I have them done sooner.. I had a right lobectomy that was Papillary Carcinoma.

Avatar f tn After talking my throat feels as though it is closing. Has anyone experienced something like this and is there something that can be done for the instability as well as small bulge @c6-7? Do people still work after having all these difficulties with pain, medications, inconsistent sleep? Please help, although I see a neurologist I still feel in the dark about this.

Avatar f tn It started when she felt like her throat was contracting and it was hard to get air..Then she noticed a few yellowish bumps/lumps at the very back of her throat. When she swallows it's like a "clicking noise and a feeling of something rubbing in her throat/neck further down She hasn't had pain but more recently it has started buring some what. She did go to our doctor and she did a throat culture for strep and a mono test. Both came back negitive.

Avatar m tn Also my neck seems to be a little sore when I turn my head to the far left or right. When I try to sleep, I am always hot, and only sleep with a bed sheet on me.... and I also have a hard time getting a good night's sleep without sleep aids. Any ideas???
Avatar f tn What you describe on the tonsils may just be 'Keratosis Tonsillis" and one need not worry about the same. But rather than guessing about what may be causing your problem, it is advisable to visit an ENT and get the expert advice. One component (Benzazepril) of Lotrel can produce dry cough as a side effect. Nadolol is known to produce bronchospasm (asthma) in some. So, if you are still taking the above medicines, it may mean a visit back to your regular doctor as well.
Avatar f tn I had a bad cold and then got laryngitis. That lasted 3 weeks and then the 4th week my voice came back but still hoarse. I have pain on my left side of my neck and tenderness on that side when I swallow. Dr checked me out and said throat is not red and gave me pills for acid reflux. It's been 4 days and don't think its acid reflux....voice and neck still the same. Anyone know what it could be ??
