I recently visit an ENT because i was having problems with phelgm clearing, horseness with my throat. ENT said i have a few vocal cord noduls and my throat looked a little sore. He has me on prilosec, because he figures it GERD. Med seem to help a little, but still having phelgm and horseness. Will visit ENT again in a few weeks. Another problem is my neck is begining to cause pain on bith left and right sides.

My 3 year old has been clearing his throat almost constantly for the past week. Why?

I am constantly clearing my throat. My voice becomes very raspy. It is necessary for me to drink water constantly. Sometimes just swallowing will start a coughing fit. I went through extensive testing about 4 years ago. They biopsied my thyroid (no cancer), ran multiple blood tests, and a barium tests on my throat (found no obstructions). This is when they did come to a conclusion my enlarged thyroid was due to hashimotos.

What can be done to stop someone from always clearing their throat. This is driving me crazy. My husband is always clearing his throat, we through it may be alergies but this has been gonig on for years and alergery medicine is not working...

About two weeks ago I suffered from a head cold with blowing out green mucus, coughing up mucus, and etc etc. This past weekend the symptoms improved drastically but for the past couple of days I still have slight congestion with clear mucus and I'm constantly clearing my throat? I have no other symptom and don't even feel sick anymore. Is this kind of like my body getting over the cold or what?

omg. thanks for mentioning symbicort. i started symbicort a while ago, and my throat clearing has gotten worse. my doctor has put me on nexium to dry up things, but i stopped taking it - just felt i didnt need it at the time. i may need to go back on the nexium or find out if the omnezaprole will work too.

Why does a 9 year old girl suddenly begin throat clearing non stop like every few seconds it is really bizarre

i do throat clearing all the time .more throat clearing after eating. as if a small mucus is stucked in my throat,which is not comming out.i was admitted for this in hospital.they have lots of tests including ct scan of chest,mri scan of throat,barium meal,endoscopy,24 hr esophagal ph monitoring,usg,blood tests.all are normal.no GERD.what should i do now? please help me. e thing i must tell u.this started at sep.2009.

my 7 year old daughter has chronic throat clearing. she would do this about 1000 times a day. its just all the time until she falls asleep. this follows a type of virus where she had a cough for 5-6 weeks. coughing so bad that she would sometimes vomit. 3 times we saw a doctor and every time there was a different verdict. from asthma to a virus to possible whooping cough. she was put on 2 different types of antibiotics of which neither did any good.

I have had a problem with constant throat clearing for 2 years now that changes in severity. I have tried everything known to man to identify the problem and have seen several throat specialists and no-one seems to be able to solve the problem. I have noticed by father and his sister both have a similar problem however no where near as severe as mine. I can clear my throat 30 times a minute to the point where i have started getting sore kidneys.

I have a question about our oldest son. He's 4.5, and in the last month, he's developed this thing with his throat. He's constantly clearing it. It's totally unconcious, he doesn't realize he's doing it. We've tried asking him if he has something in his throat and he says no, and looks at us like what are you talking about, lol. It's pretty frequent, several times an hour (sometimes several times a minute).

Constant or repeated throat clearing in a child can be a habit he/she may have picked up from somewhere. It can also be due to post nasal drip (if the child has recurrent upper respiratory infection/sinusitis etc) or due to gastric reflux. It can also be a vocal tic. Seasonal allergies can irritate the throat and cause the urge to clear the throat. Please show your child to an ENT specialist and pediatrician. Take care!

i am having severe throat problem since a very long time may be 2 years, i felt something stuck in my throat , and always felt like clearing my throat, always have a sore throat , and sometimes feel that something coming up from my chestor stomach, may be gastric juice.these symptoms increases after meals. belching is also a problem.is it possible that my stomach is related to throat problem.

i have a constant urge to clear my throat since last one year . i went for antibiotics and anti allergies ,but to no result. a thick grey mucous comes out sticking. my ct scan of chest was perfectly normal.

Sometimes I can give myself a sore throat just by clearing my throat so much. Anyway, nothing I have tried works so far. I did read somewhere that apple cider vinegar works pretty well. I did try it for a short time and it helped some but I think I will try it again. I refuse to take drugs for this so I am on the natural remedy search. It seems like a lot of people have this problem. Let's hope we can find something that can cure this annoying, embarrassing problem.

For about four years now I have been experiencing constant throat clearing my family doctor has called it post nasal drip. I have been treated by my PCP, an ENT, and allergists. My PCP prescribes antibiotics which helps for a few days. The ENT removed a nasal polyp and could not find any reason for the constant throat clearing which not only is bothersome to me but after while annoys others as well. I have to clear my throat constantly it gets worse after eat. My voice gets very hoarse at times from clearing/coughing my throat. It's been going on for 8 months and it's driving me nuts.When I lay down to go to sleep it totally goes away when I get up the clearing of the throat begins again. I've seen a lung specialist, an allergist, an ENT, I've had a chest x-ray, an upper GI series all normal. Anybody out there that can help me. I'm at the end of my rope.
