Avatar m tn I have been sick since around Saturday afternoon, I knew I was getting sick because my throat began to hurt badly. I haven't had a voice for the past couple weeks because I have been on vacation and there has been a lot of yelling/singing involved. When I woke up two days ago on Sunday morning I noticed that at the back right side of my throat there was large red patch of irritation, very sensitive. It hurts to swallow but this is not what I am concerned about.
Avatar f tn My rage went down dramatically, and I felt pain when I sing. That was two weeks ago when we first started singing. I stopped this last week, but my throat now hurts all the time, sometimes more than others. It feels like someone is scratching sandpaper in my throat, and just today my whole throat closed up for a few seconds and I couldn’t breathe. It’s getting worse every day. And also, sometimes when I talk my voice cuts off, and that causes a sharp pain. My main concern is when I laugh.
Avatar f tn I noticed after that, that the left side of my throat hurt pretty bad. I took a break singing until the next day but it kept getting worse. The muscle pain spread into my jaw and today up into my temple. Now it hurts like crazy from the left bottoms of my collar bone, up through my throat, into my temple and it started throbbing. I’m at the point of tears and I’m not sure where it’s coming from. I don’t think it’s my teeth since it started in my throat.
Avatar m tn Hi, sorry - this is a bit of a long one: CURRENT SYMPTOMS Right now, I have lost my upper range and have to belt to get a note in that range. The lower range is shaky and weaker and I do not have very much ease in producing or holding a note. My speaking voice is weak as well and goes a little hoarse sometimes and when I say something with a higher pitch, I struggle a lot and can feel it is straining - the ability isn't really there anymore.
Avatar f tn swimming with head out of water mostly (i.e., cocked up) 4. extensive singing (mostly incorrectly - from throat as opposed to the correct method. Also, periodically when doing certain shoulder weight lifting, I feel a concentrated 'point' of sharp (not oppressive) pain in, approximately, the center of the upper rt quadrant of my back. Also, I feel extreme tightness throughout the entire back of my neck (I actually feel something like 1/2-3/4 inch twisted wire.
Avatar f tn It helps me sometimes to listen to Namaste singing the Gayatri Mantra, or Namaste singing Jaya Shiva Shankara, or Sathya Sai Baba singing Gayatri Mantra in his very special way. It also helps me to hear George Harrison singing Gopala Krishna, or Trevor Hall singing Om, Shakti, Om. Regardless of your religion, I promise you that if you look these up and watch them on you tube, you will feel so much better. Love and Peace to you.
1028452 tn?1537448484 Michael keeps nagging about singing to his sister, but kids are never allowed in Intensive Care. But Karen makes up her mind. She will take Michael whether they like it or not. If he doesn't see his sister now, he may never see her alive. She dresses him in an oversized scrub suit and marches him into ICU. He looks like a walking laundry basket, but the head nurse recognizes him as a child and bellows, "Get that kid out of here now! No children are allowed in ICU.
Avatar m tn I sing, and perform live and the pain and tightness in my throat is effecting my larnyx and singing abilities. I read up on symptoms and side effects of the simplex 1 and 2 virus, one of which was pain during urination and another involving neck pains, I haven't had those two problems/symptoms but am still hazzy and concerned.
228936 tn?1249094248 Hi, I have some reflux problems and swallowing /throat problems that my doctor said could be from long term untreated reflux. Could this make it difficult to sing, ie, making my throat feel irritated while singing? This is a problem because I am a musician and am expected to sing sometimes.

Avatar n tn I had my thyroid removed a week ago today, and I have had zero problems with my voice. I had a bad sore throat for a bit from the breathing tube during surgery, but that was really it. I do local community theatre and was worried about my voice, as well, and the doctor (general surgeon for me) he couldn't guarantee anything, of course. I'm not sure how rare of an effect it is, though. It really can be the luck of the draw, I think.
Avatar n tn Singers put great strain on their vocal chords and throat. Do what the Opera singers do, and stop speaking or singing for a couple of days to give the throat time to heal and rest.
1200240 tn?1289339687 I to have noticed I cant get through a whole CD when singing without my throat hurting. But at least I still can sing, that is all that counts! My jaw pops really bad, and it is getting worse. I wont eat dense bread, it is just terrible on it. Recently eating chocolate is causing the same feeling of my right side of my jaw dislocating. Not pleasant.
800724 tn?1254440318 m not sure if im right but i feel like i remember someone saying that sometimes people with chiari have a change in the tone of there voice or like there singing voice and recently i noticed that my singing voice and talking voice had kind of changed...i dont know what this is lol but does anyone know what I mean?
Avatar f tn Sometimes, I sip on water but it has to be ice cold to help at all. I am a singer and this affects my singing. It makes my throat feel tight. I get a really dry feeling in my throat and a tickle and the tickle switch sides. It's weird but it never happens on both sides. I went to and ENT because my singing voice changed a little and he inserted a probe in my nose to my throat to look at on a monitor. He told me I had a nozzle on my throat very small but it was not cancer.
Avatar f tn At the beginning of this month I believe I strained or damaged my voice from long hours of singing. My throat felt fatigued and I had tension in my neck. Hoarse voice etc etc. I also ended up with a popping/thumping feeling in my throat that happened every time I swallowed except when I was eating or drinking. The best way I can describe the feeling is try and imagine the sensation and pressure of cracking the knuckle of your middle finger and imagining that exact feeling in your throat.
1386217 tn?1279711235 I know that age can affect the singing voice but wow. i am now so limited. I feel like I am soon going to lose my singing ability. Does this happen?

Avatar n tn t want to sing, but I have noticed that when I try singing several songs, I experience bloat. My thinking is that it is the result of too much air-intake when working the diaphragm (for those that do not sing thru their nose...). I am still a little worried about my vibrato, I still notice it, but find it a little harder to achieve and lastly, I don't think that I hit perfect pitch anymore. Prior to the surgery, I have had acid reflux since 2001...
Avatar n tn i had hiatal hernia surgery 10 years ago, it worked great , and 1 year ago my symptoms returned hard, look for alkaline diets on google, give it a try for a week eating 70% alkaline foods and 30% acid, i was suffering for extreme acid reflux, i changed my diet and stop using 40 gram nexium , i am out of nexium now and feel better than ever, no bloating, no reflux and my throat feels like singing!!! i hope it works for you! god bless!
Avatar f tn I'm not sure if this is related to GERD but I've had this throat issue since mid 2007. I had an inflammation in the throat sometime around October 2007 which persisted for a while so in November I went to the doctor and was prescribed augmentin. The pain went away and everything seemed to have been alright for a while. Now i battle with dryness of the throat and sometimes tightening of the throat. What could be the problem?
Avatar m tn Three months ago (around October 10th) I was singing in the car when I felt a sudden sharp pain in the right side of my throat. I sang a lot that day and now i know it was strain but back then i had no idea what it was. I stopped singing for a few days and then went back like nothing happened. But then one morning a couple days later, after singing loudly the night before, i had really bad dull achy feeling in the right side of my throat.
Avatar f tn I have thyroid nodules and my ENT had no inkling, even through 2 surgeries on my vocal cords and complaints that I felt like I had something in my throat. ENT looked down my throat about 4 times to make sure there was nothing there, but of course, he couldn't see my thyroid. Wasn't until my pcp didn't treat my hypothyroidism properly and I got sent back to ENT (after hypo dx) and explained what was happening. ENT ended up sending me for the u/s and antibody tests.
