Common Questions and Answers about Throat pain nerve

throat

Avatar n tn apparently my wife said that my hair on my left side was covered in blood. Upon awakening from the surgery I had a terrible sore throat and could not talk. The pain in my throat is like pharyngitis multiplied by ten. My moth is bone dry, my left ear aches real bad, and I cannot talk, voice is gone. Went to Hershey med and thay did a video of my throat. One of my vocal chords is paralyzed, ther is muscle degeneration on the left side and the laryngeal nerve is probably damaged.
Avatar n tn In this the pain begins in the throat and usually radiates to the neck and is due to the pressure on the glossopharyngeal nerve, a nerve which supplies to the tongue and the throat. In this condition, the initial management is with the drugs and if the medical management fails, then the surgical exploration is done to mobilize any blood vessel if it’s pressing the nerve. I would advise you to consult an ENT surgeon and take an opinion and seek treatment. I hope that helps.
Avatar f tn I have been getting nerve pain in the back of my neck and headaches all over my head. Avatar m tn As of last february, I started to notice nerve pain in my front chest area, closer to my left side. I now feel nerve tingling/pain on my left hand and the left side of my face and upper head. As well, the back of my legs feel as if they are shaking and the left side of my throat feels as if there is a bubble. I do get tingling sensations that "run" across the left side of my head and peripheral/muscle twitches around my body. I do have some pain on the left shoulder as well.

Avatar f tn I've posted regarding this before, but I'm posting again. I'm a recovering opiate addict (2 years clean) and I have off-the-charts-pain! I had several disks fused in my neck in 2006 and shoulder surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff in 2010. My pain is in the upper part of my neck radiating both down into my shoulder and into the area where my skull meets my neck creating a wicked head ache! Chiropractors won't touch me because of the plate in my neck.

Avatar f tn Not sure I should be writing this, do not want to scare you. I had an endarterectomy on December 23. When waking up in the ICU I had a raging sore throat and hoarseness. Doctor told me it was because of the tube down my throat and all of the throat problems would go away in a couple of days. I was let out of the ICU by the doctor the next day. The nurse said that it was too early because of the pain I had, but he said it's Christmas, let him go home.

Avatar f tn I BELIEVE THAT IT IS CAUSED BY IRRITATION OF THE VAGUS NERVE. WHEN I GET THE SENSATION TO COUGH I FEEL PRICKLEY STINGY FEELINGS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF MY THROAT. I PUT PRESSURE ON IT AND MOST OF THE TIME I CAN STOP THE COUGH FROM COMING. ALSO, MY COLON GETS VERY TIGHT AND BULGY AND I FEEL THE TIGHTNESS ON MY VAGUS NERVE AND AGAIN I PUT PRESSURE ON IT AND ALSO I PUT PRESSURE ON MY LOWER LEFT SIDE WHERE THE COLON IS. IT FEELS VERY HARD AND LUMPY.
1455116 tn?1330505417 I had a needle biopsy done today on a 1/2" hard nodule on my thyroid. The needle biopsy didn't hurt too much. Tonight though I am very sore, and oddly enough it is not so much at the biopsy site, but the back of my actual throat..on the side that they did the biopsy but 3 inches above the biopsy site, the back of your throat part where you can see when you open your mouth..feels like it's on fire, and my ear aches on the same side. Is this normal after a needle biopsy?

Avatar f tn I then went to a neurologist, another ear nose and throat specalist, back to the family doctor and then finally onto a pain managment specialist. I had a nerve block in my neck, and back. I finally said no more when they wanted to do a nerve block in the muscles in my stomach to treat my ear. I tried to research, and all I could find that was somewhat close was trigeminal neuralgia.
Avatar n tn You may be having a nerve compression at the cervical (neck) level. The nerve compression could be due to an osteophyte, growth or a disc. This could be causing the odd sensation in the scapular area. A neurological examination by your primary care physician may confirm this. He may then ask for blood test, an x ray and if needed an MRI to find out what is causing the compression. This is usually treated conservatively (without surgery) with physiotherapy, traction and cervical collars.
