Common Questions and Answers about Throat pain due to cold

throat

Avatar m tn For many months now I am experiencing throat discomfort and pain as well as throat hoarseness sometimes. It is almost always painful to talk. Swallowing food is not much of a problem, it even seems to relieve the symptoms somewhat. I went to see an ENT who prescribed PPIs to me like Omeprazole to reduce any possible reflux that could have been not letting me heal. After several months on the medication my symptoms did not improve and seems worsened.
Avatar n tn Your symptoms could also be due to a post nasal drip, which can cause a chronic irritation in the throat. This could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. Consult your primary care physician who will do blood tests and take a throat swab to determine the cause and prescribe appropriate medications. In the meantime you can take OTC Ibuprofen pain medication. Ensure to take this medication after food to avoid gastritis. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

It can be due to viral or bacterial causes.Take some over the counter medications like chlorpheniramine or cetrizine for symptomatic relief. Drink plenty of water and fluids. Steam inhalation may provide some relief. If the symptoms are severe or persistent a clinical examination may be necessary. It is suggested to discuss your concerns with your attending ENT specialist .I sincerely hope it helps. Best luck and regards!
Avatar m tn I also had a tick bite on the same day when I met this woman and I sent the tick to be tested and it contained Lyme bacteria but I couldnt test myself to Lyme because the antibiotic cure had to be started urgently due to the described problems. But a Lyme soecialist said that with all the antibiotics Ive taken Lyme should be dead by now even if I had it and that my dysphagia is not related to that. So that’s all.

I might be concerned that you have some acid erosion from acid reflux damaging your esophagus. This is an issue that could trigger pvcs due to the vagus nerve so I would go see your doctor or a gastroenterologist to get your throat checked out.
Avatar m tn Hi there! Nausea and vomiting are frequent associations of pregnancy especially around the second trimester. This occurs due to the hormonal effects and the growing pressure of the uterus on the GI tract. I would suggest taking plenty of fluids especially cold milk and frequent small meals at regular intervals during the day. It might also help to raise the head end of your bed while sleeping by keeping pillows under your head. Exercises such as swimming, yoga etc may also be beneficial.

Avatar f tn This can cause a post nasal drip and irritate the throat. The bleeding can occur due to congestion. The symptom described could most probably be due to a viral infection. The treatment for viral infection is lots of rest, plenty of oral fluids and antipyretics like OTC Tylenol to control the fever/pain and anti-inflammatory OTC medications like ibuprofen. Ensure to take the medications after food.
