Avatar f tn I was siagnosed about a year ago. It has been the worst diagnoses along with my death sentence of MRSA Staph infection. I thought it was a string of bad luck for me but bad luck shouldn't last my whole life or at least to what I have left. I'm on medications for this chronic urticaria. the following is Doxepin 25mg, Rantidine, and my epi pen. My doctors described this as something related to my staph infection or stress.
Avatar f tn This looks like urticaria or hives. The swellings or wheals produced after itching can be pale (of skin color) or red. Urticaria is usually triggered by allergens, such as drugs, foods, insect bites, inhaled substances, in response to sunlight, cold, heat, stress, exercise, or a viral infection. Other common allergens are pollen, mold, dust, pet dander, or cosmetics. Since your sister experienced an itch, just tell her to go over these possibilities in your mind. Something may strike her.
Avatar n tn January 2012 - while vacationing at the beach had a big lump appear on the bottoms of each foot. It was hard, painful and itchy. At the time I was taking 2 anti-biotics for a bladder infection. I didn't not pay any attention to food or anything I consumed. I thought it may have been a reaction to the sand or something there. Jan. 2012 - a week later I broke out in hives all over my body and felt my throat tightening.
Avatar n tn My 21 month old daughter has just started getting these as well, she has had a chest, throat and ear infection is on antiboitics, they come up randomly on her face and neck sometimes they are single red lumps and other times they are patches full of small lumps (looks like stingy nettle stings) been to hosiptal they said its to do with her illness, still scares me everytime!
Avatar f tn After looking into it, what you have is truly an allergy to cold. Refered to as 'cold urticaria'. With cold urticaria, exposure to cold temperatures causes redness, itching, swelling and hives on your skin. People with cold urticaria should avoid exposure to cold air or water as much as possible. (Source: Mayo Clinic, http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/cold-urticaria/DS01160) This completely agrees with everything you have said, and thus proves your cold allergy.
Avatar n tn m just looking for advice and to see if anyone else is going through what i am. I was Diagnosed with chronic Cholinergic Urticaria. I cant exercise, i cant even go outside in the winter, i break out in hives every single day and every time i do, my throat gets real scratchy, and really gets be scared. On top of that i'm also highly allergic to dust, molds, pollen, dander, and almost every other airborne allergens. So when i dont get hives from CU, i get them from the airborne allergens.
Avatar m tn Hello, This rash could be due to hives which can occur after a viral infection. Hives (medically known as urticaria) are red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes. They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in other places, often in a matter of hours. Many cases of hives are "idiopathic," meaning no cause is known. Others may be triggered by viral infections or medications.
Avatar n tn A complete history with proper evaluation can confirm the cause for urticaria. Treatment depends upon the cause for urticaria. Prevention of the allergen is the most important part of treatment of this condition. Best.
Avatar f tn The fluid under my skin, the swelling speads, to the point where the back of my throat was swollen that I had to be injected with a hydrocortosone and an anti histamine. It is some sort of reaction. I just can not pin point how or why it happens.
Avatar m tn Any level above 500 is higher and is suggestive of allergy or parasitic infection. You have known to have mildly higher levels. It can be seen in patients with urticaria or allergic dermatitis. It is usually seen secondary to exposure to allergen and subsequent reaction is mediated by IgE antibodies. Your body is known to hypersensitive to certain things.
Avatar f tn After having my daughter in Feb 2008 I started getting hives. After much testing and eliminating, my immunologist told me it was Autoimmune Urticaria. I spent the next year taking many prescribed and otc meds. These meds did help some but the hives were still there. Then I got pregnant again and most of the symptoms went into remission. Now I am 3 months post partum and I itch like mad. I am not having as my wheels but more of an overall redness, constantly.
Avatar n tn 1)I have had chronic idiopathic urticaria/hives since 2003. At the time my derm did a biopsy of a hive on my arm thinking it might be “herpes multiforme”.The results showed it was urticaria. Before that biopsy I was not sexually active for 5 mos.And between '03 and '08 have only had two partners:#1:vaginal intercourse w. condoms, oral w/out condoms 3 times over one weekend in December '06.
Avatar n tn Last year I got hives towards the end of a strep infection. This year again I was sick and now i am feeling better but getting hives again. The strep test from the doc was negative. I am wondering, does this happen to anyone else? I am pretty sure it is not related to food or medicine. It seems to happen as my body is fighting the virus. An allergic reaction to...the virus? If so, why towards the end?
Avatar n tn Hello, What your son seems to be having is chronic hives or chronic urticaria. Avatar f tn They will complain of aches and pains and will probably want to sleep more and may have a discoloured discharge (any green or yellow discharge is indicative of an infection.) They may have a cough, complain of earache or sore throat. Even if the child is off their food, make sure they drink plenty of fluids so that they do not get dehydrated through fever. With allergic reactions the symptoms can be itchy eyes, runny nose and sneezing, sometimes urticaria or hives (a rash).
Avatar m tn IgE-mediated allergic reactions are a rare cause in acute urticaria as well as in recurrent chronic urticaria. In other types of urticaria, e.g. physical urticaria, food plays hardly any role as an eliciting agent with the exception of ice-cold drinks in cold urticaria. By contrast, exercise-induced anaphylaxis is frequently food-dependent.
Avatar n tn ve been intermittently getting utricaria all over my body and at the same time, a horrendous pain stretching from my stomach up to my throat. The only way I can describe it is as if I've swallowed something sharp, like a crisp, and it's cutting all the way down my oesophagus. The pain and the rash ALWAYS come together, or at least, one directly procedes the other. I have been keeping food diaries for the last 18 years, to no avail.
