Avatar n tn Does he have a sore throat or fever? It may be a bacterial infection and that white thing could be a pus pocket filled with bacteria. I would see a doctor to see if it is anything to worry about.
Avatar n tn The white spots on tonsil could be pus due to infection, chronic pus pocket, chronic tonsillitis or it could be due to candida or fungal infection. Scraping from the tonsil should be cultured. If you also have sore throat, pain in throat and are running a temperature, then this needs to be treated with anti-inflammatory, anti fever and anti-histamine medications. Warm saline gargles help. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Well, it may not be strep if he hasn't done a strep test or culture. Do you have pus in your throat or did you? Do you have a high fever/ He is probably just treating for a variety of bacteria. Yes if you haven't cleared the sore throat and ear infection (which could also be viral. You should really get cultures done if it hasn't cleared or clarify if he thinks it is viral but is treating empircally to make sure you don't get a secondary infection such as pneumonia.
Avatar f tn Your daughter does have a throat infection and tonsillitis. The fever will come once the infection increases. Take her to a doctor and get some treatment which will include anti inflammatory, antibiotic and anti allergics. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar m tn With a throat infection it is probable that you have a middle ear infection which is causing the pain and hearing loss. You will need antibiotics to deal with the infection and sometimes myringotomy (opening the ear drum) for the pus to be drained. Once the infection resolves, the hearing should improve. If it does not then other inner ear causes for hearing loss could be considered. So, consult your doctor for a proper evaluation of your symptoms. Good Luck.
Avatar f tn Went to the dr in late November for strep throat and a sinus infection, tested negative for strep but I have cobblestone throat and my left tonsil is inflamed. My doctor said I have some pus behind It & I have a small hole on my tonsil as well. My throat does not hurt and I no longer have any symptoms. I have taken both azthromycin and doxycycline. My throat still looks the same. My doctor has said just to keep an eye on it. Should I just go ahead and go to an ENT?
Avatar m tn That same night I begin to develop a soar throat. 5 days later I begin to have the tingling sensation in my penis and then 2 days later I still had some of it and my doctor gave me Cephalexin 500 MG 3x a day and Acyclovir 800 MG 3x a day. I noticed the testicles to be hanging for past few says and a bit red. Today is a bit less in them hanging. I've also taken some leaf extract pills and some other herbal pills. On penis or anywhere on it, I have not seen any sores so far or any blisters.
Avatar n tn Primarily a day or two after my encounter I woke up with swollen tonsils, that were infected with white pus spots, I experienced no throat pain cold or flu symptoms were non existent, I sought help from a doctor so I went to my local walk in centre as my GP was booked up all week, the doctor told me that I have a tonsillitis infection and that I require antibiotics, I was put on a 10 day course of phenoxymethyllpenicillin and the pus eventually went away despite my tonsils still being swollen h
Avatar m tn I've been battling a tonsil infection since late August. The infection produces discharges of pus that smell, and small openings in the tonsils where the discharge comes from. (These openings also serve to hold food as I'm eating, which creates another issue.) I think it may be yeast, but the doctors couldn't tell me. I even had a throat culture done, but it didn't show anything.
Avatar n tn Now it is infected and hurts VERY bad in about a 2 inch diameter, but more up towards my throat and it hurt when I push on the sternum area. It is swollen and red, but there doesn't seem to be any pus to be removed. The pain has gotten worse for 2 days and it burns and hurts if clothing touches it and I was put on Cephalexin 500mg twice a day starting today. If I lean my head back and stretch the neck and upper chest skin it hurts a lot. I plan to try an epson salt bath tonight.
Avatar m tn I went to my GP and he diagnosed me with an ear infection and prescribed the antibiotic Klaricid. Again, this took care of my sore throat and slowly eased the pain in my ear (though bloody pus discharges were coming from it). 2 weeks on, I still can't hear properly and recently the pain has returned a little, but my sore throat seems to have gone for good.
Avatar m tn Hi there, Any infection in the body should be treated. Dental abscesses and pus pockets in the throat warrant evaluation and complete treatment with antibiotics. Persistent sore throat can be due to many causes like glandular fever, tonsillitis, laryngitis and cancer. It is suggested to see an ENT surgeon and get checked. Treatment will depend on the underlying cause. Hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!
Avatar m tn Hi, no std shows up the next day so its not related to the act. This throat infection (sounds like staph) probably started a few days before the incedent as takes time for bacterias to multiply and spread like your describing. The doctor has a doctor/patient relationship with you and cannot tell anyone about your visit or diagnsoes.
Avatar f tn but also common throat infections lol) I am just super worried because they could not find the cause of the infection, and thus I am just led to believe it is something like throat gono or maybe herpes?
503418 tn?1231098736 Well, pus indicates an infection, and if serious there should be a fever. If the condition is strep throat (tonsillitis), that is a specific type of infection caused by the streptococcus bacteria. Strep tonsillitis can cause secondary damage to the heart valves (rheumatic fever) and kidneys (glomerulonephritis).
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm assuming you're not in the States by the meds you have mentioned. I'm not a pro but I wonder if you have Strep throat as I had white pus, possible blisters on the back of my tongue, tonsils and throat. I had strep along with mononucleosis. (30 years go :) )I also had a bad taste in my mouth. I think you can have strep with or without a sore throat. It's worth asking your doctor about mononucleosis and strep if you haven't already.
Avatar m tn have a slight but irritating sore throat just above my adams apple (which has allways been quite prominent) i had quinzy about 20 years ago and am worried it may kick off again.Seems to settle on the left and makes swallowing some times awkward also a constant thirst .
Avatar f tn Anyways, It has been about 3 days and it seems like the abscess is constantly leaking pus down my throat. My throat is sore and raw, I constantly taste the foul pus, especially when i talk or put any type of pressure on the area. I can't take it being that i am a germ freak. I have tried to pop it but it just slowly comes out (no blood) and It seems like its a small, hard, white ball that kind of moves around under the gum. I don't know what to do??? Please help?
Avatar f tn White patches are common in many throat infections. The sore throat which you had may have contributed to it. In response to the infection the body produces soft white debris which collects in the tiny indentations in the tonsils called crypts. Repeated salt water gargles will help. Mix one teaspoon of salt in 1 cup of warm water and gargle. If the patches increase in size or become painful then consult your doctor. Regards.
Avatar n tn You have Tonsilitis or Strep Throat ... You would need antibiotics to kick out all infection....
Avatar n tn If your fever is high and you have pus in the throat or even without the pus but a fever of 101 F or higher and a sore throat you should see a doctor to see if you have Strep throat.
