Avatar f tn I'm 23 and experience a disturbing throat pain for a long while (several years). I have this pain mainly during morning but also when I try to swallow up something. Basically I feel my throat irritated also when I breathe.. This pain actually started about seven years ago when I caught a very bad cold and when I've also been diagnosed with streptococcus beta hemolytic. Back then I did about 9 months of injections with moldamin. But the pain actually never stopped since then.
903138 tn?1266767041 However, by Friday night, the pain in my throat had moved up into my ear. The pain is really sharp and was really bad today and yesterday, especially at night when I'm trying to go to sleep. I went to the health services on my college campus, and the "doctor" there told me that she only saw clear fluid in my ear with some bubbles, and that she didn't think it was an infection, however my throat was still red and swollen (negative for strep).
Avatar f tn Symptoms of strep throat include throat pain, difficulty swallowing, red and swollen tonsils, swollen/tender lymph glands in the neck, fever, and fatigue. However, these set of symptoms may also be observed in a viral infection or some other kind of illness. To confirm if this is due to streptococcus bacteria, throat swab or culture and direct physical examination may be done. If this is due to a viral infection, it usually resolves after a few days.
Avatar f tn she also took a swab of my throat to see is it was the streptococcus infection (strep throat) but I did not get told when the results would be back. My tonsils aren't as sore because I've been staying on top of pain relief and I've been taking the right dosage of antibiotic which my ear infection isn't as bad but tonsils haven't seemed to decrease in size. The white puss spots on my tonsils have also gotten whiter, what does this mean?

Avatar n tn As both the ears are affected, it’s more likely that the pain could be due to Eustachian tube dysfunction from throat infection. Throat infection can cause inflammation around the Eustachian tube, which is the tube that runs from the back of the nose to the middle ear and is responsible for draining the middle ear of fluid. If there is Eustachian tube dysfunction, fluid can remain in the middle ear and cause pain. This can also result in an infection. So, consult your doctor regarding this.
Avatar m tn So last Monday I found out I had a throat inflection , as days started to pass I've noticed my gums somewhat red and really hard for me to chew because of the pain. About Saturday morning my throat started to feel fine but my gums are still in pain. They're red, swollen, and whitish canker sores on them , any idea on what it can be or what's going on?
Avatar f tn The bacteria feed on the rotted foodstuff and eventually enter the Eustachian tube through the infected tooth. The Eustachian tube connects the throat, teeth; ears, eyes and head, infection that enters via the tooth can migrate or settle at one or more of these points causing pain. Take some analgesics for pain relief. Get your tooth treatment done. That will help. Take care and kind regards!
Avatar f tn Make an appointment to see your doctor so that he can look into your ear canal and see if you do have an infection. He/she will also examine your throat to see if there is an infection there too. If the doctor feels it is a bacterial infection you will be prescribed with an antibiotic and/or an antibacterial ear spray. In the mean time, take pain relief medication as prescribed on the packet if you are OK with that. And also do steam inhalations.

Avatar n tn I have suffered from pnd and constant clearing my throat most of my life. At times it gets very bad and includes infected sinuses. I have had the sinus surgery but it did little good. Occasionally, I wake up suddenly, choking. I can't breathe and gasp for air for a couple minutes. I come close to passing out before I gradually regain my breath, but only by gasping as hard as I can. It really scares me because I almost lose consciousness.
