Avatar m tn old was seen today for a fever and sore throat complaint. the ped. said she has a throat infection and swollen glands and prescribed meds. she did check other areas of her body for glands (at least that is what i think she was feeling for). about 7 weeks ago she had the same thing (tho the whole family passed around a fever/infection). should we be overly concerned that she has been sick like this twice in two months? what would be the tell tale signs of leukemia or lymphoma in a child?

1548905 tn?1303331009 Today, I went to see the doctor, he confirmed the swollen glands. And he also found I have sore throat, I dont feel anything about it. All the swollen glands cannot be seen by appearance. I dont have fever, no diarrhea, no weight loss. I also did the normal blood test, which showed WBC, RBC and all others are good. I am still concered abou HIV infection. I am wondering the risk of being infected by HIV. Meanwhile, if I go to test on Monday, which means only 7 weeks after the exposure.

Avatar m tn Doc, Thanks for the prompt response. You mention 4 to 14 days as the time for blisters to appear. Considering I'm only 60 hours into this possible exposure, I'm guessing it's too early to tell, right? I'm just nervous the swollen glands for 48 hours is a sign for things to come. Your response gives me hope, I just want to make sure it's not false hope.
Avatar n tn The whole right side of my face is swollen. I have a sore throat and drainage. I went back and Dr. asked me if I was allergic to sulfa, I said yes. (I said yes, the first time too.) Now they gave me Cipro drops which I have been taking along with Benedryl the last 24 hours and it hasn't gotten better at all. The swelling is really painful and is also along my nose and tear duct. Of course, my lid is hugely swollen too. Discharge, itchy, red, red, eyes, etc. Headache too.
Avatar f tn I feel that the submandibular gland is swollen in your case. The glands are located in and around the mouth and throat. The major salivary glands are called the parotid, submandibular and sublingual glands. Swelling of these glands leads to interference of production and drainage of saliva. It may be due to some obstruction like stone or tumor, inflammation and infection. Secondary infection of salivary glands from adjacent lymph nodes also occurs.

Avatar n tn If all you can feel is like a pen tip then your groin lymphnodes are not swollen and your swollen throat glands are from your throat infection. They say when you have early hiv if any glands will swell it will be all of them, groin, armpit, and throat. I would try not to worry about it too much (I know its hard to do when you have hiv phobia, which I have as well) Go get tested at the right time and put the fear behind you.
Avatar f tn the infection consisits of swollen tonsils and glands in the neck, and some ear pain. No fever or coungh. I have been tested for strep throat and mono, both were negative. And i dont believe it is contagious as none of my faimy of friends have has this problem. the throat infection as accured five times now. . other than the antibiotics, i take advil for the pain (which helps somewhat) gargle with salt water, and sometimes use oil of oregeno.
329165 tn?1515471990 Hello and hope you are doing well. Your symptoms could be due to a post nasal drip. This could build up during the course of the day irritating the throat. The post nasal drip could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. It could be sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and facial pain or pressure. Post nasal drip could also be due to allergens. These are substances like pollen, dust, animal dander, certain foods, insect venoms and certain medications.
