Common Questions and Answers about Throat cancer young people

Avatar m tn My eyes also feel a little strained sometimes, everyone says these symptoms come from anxiety (minus the whole lymph node and sore throat thing), but im so fearful of having lymphoma, lukemia, thyroid cancer, or any form of cancer!! I fear that all these symptoms are really not anxiety, and that im dying or something, I just want reassurance that this will all end and i'll get my life back, but that feels so..afar.. I thank you reader that you've gotten this far.
Avatar m tn Hello, First of all please stop worrying as throat cancer or esophageal cancer at such a young age and without any prior history of any symptoms and smoking is not possible. These are all symptoms of viral infections which were responsible for your cold or can be due to post nasal drip due to the viral infections[causing rhinitis(cold)or sinusitis] being lingering on . Post-nasal drip (PND) occurs when excessive mucus is produced by the sinuses.
Avatar f tn I am now having difficulty swallowing or at least feel like I have a lump in my throat - the constant clearing of throat, cough. I am now terrified that I have Barretts or cancer. Plan on making an appointment next with with a GI - didn't like the one I went to before.
Avatar f tn Hi. No. From your description, it doesn't seem to me like throat cancer. Your doctor is probably correct in diagnosing it as an infection, although it may be viral instead of bacterial, which may be the reason why it does not seem to be responding to the antibiotics. The other reason why the infection has gotten prolonged instead of resolving is the fact that you have continued smoking intermittently. Cigarette smoke impairs the immune system, so it would be best for you to quit.
Avatar m tn Also, my gland under my tonsil on the left is swollen too, my right did swell at bit but not as much
Avatar f tn Sorry to scare you, but, I think it's more serious than you think! The Oral Sex Cancer Connection Doctors Say There Is a Link Between Oral Sex and Throat Cancer By CATHY BECKER Oct. 15, 2008 122 comments FONT SIZE EMAIL PRINT SHARE RSS Teresa Dillon was surprised to learn four years ago that what she deemed as an average sore throat actually was stage 2 cancer on her tonsil. Human papillomavirus (HPV) has now been linked to oral cancer.
Avatar n tn (This susceptibility through oral sex, me giving and her receiving) I wasn’t about to post a question since I did find some useful information you already provided on HPV and oral cancer however it is a little dated and again I have seen many articles in 2009 and 2010 about young people (I am a 35 year old male) whose diagnosis of oral cancer are rising and don’t have other risk factors such as tobacco.

Avatar f tn Hi and welcome. All men over the age of 45 are at highter risk for prostate cancer. Thats why men of that age have their PSA tested and also have a hand manual on the size of the prostate.
Avatar f tn According to him less than 5% of people with high strain develop throat cancer. I can rest a little better now. Thanks again.
Avatar n tn ) however i failed to mention there is a history on my dads side of the family of cancer. I was wondering if you could offer any opinion on the matter, whether genetics play much of a role and whether it is possible of someone my age/gender to get breast cancer - also taking into account that cancers of this type are painless(?) and often show other symptoms (discharge etc).
Avatar n tn I feel like i am having difficulty swallowing, but i have no problems at all downing any food or drink i want. I cannot stop thinking about throat cancer... though almost 20 hrs ago i had no premonition of any physical swallowing difficulty: this seems irrational even to me. I have been diagnosed with 'general anxiety' which i have heard can sometimes give one difficulty swallowing. Should i consult a doctor anyway?
Avatar m tn Currently a non smoker and in pretty good condition and typically run 3-4 times a week A couple months ago i started having right chest, back and arm tightness along with developing constant throat clearing (lungs clear) and occasianally dark yellow spots in sputem and possibly a small amount of streaked blook when I force a hard cough and clear out from throat. At this point I had a chest xray performed, heart tested and CT scan without anything being found.
Avatar m tn In need of some assistance with a lump I discovered on the hard palate of my mouth last week on Dec 30, 2014. In July 12,2014 I kissed a young woman and became sick, I slowly recovered from my illness (Which till this day the docs havent told me what virus caused me to become sick in the first place), but now discovered a lump in my mouth. I've been worried that it may be cancer. 1.) the lump is hard, on the right side of hard palate and painless 2.
Avatar m tn ( im worried sick to be honest and dont know what to do
Avatar n tn Your concerns are valid, even some people who do not smoke get lung cancer. The impact of a family member having one, may not really increase your risk for cancer (unless there are also a number of different other cancers in the family). Stay positive.
Avatar n tn I would say not to worry about oral hpv, the main reason being the high-risk strains those live on genital areas do not like the oral enviornment and they do not survive well in there... Further, the throat cancer due to hpv is extremely low to rare and hpv is not the major cause of throat cancer but it can be a causitive factor... the tobacco use is the major cause of throat cancer...
Avatar m tn Wouldnt my thyroid counts be out of wack if it was cancer? Why would my throat hurt/trouble breathing if its technically not even touching my esophagus? Wouldn't I be losing weight if it was cancer ? Thanks!
Avatar m tn Your profile show you are 37, still young, but if you were/are a heavy smoker it may be that has damaged your throat (not cancer we can hope) and causing bleeding . Here, just another question/guess I still think my first reaction is the more likely.

1415711 tn?1286281354 It started when I found out about Michael Crichton dying of throat cancer (old news, I know). I started to get some throat soreness soon after that lasted for about 2 weeks. I made the mistake of googling "persistent sore throat" and of course self diagnosed myself with throat cancer (I smoked for about ten years when I was younger and also chewed tobacco for some years). I went to see my GP who assured me I was having some serious post nasal drip but was otherwise healty.
