Throat cancer lymph nodes

Common Questions and Answers about Throat cancer lymph nodes

throat

Avatar m tn You mentioned that you are having fever and sore throat. That may have caused the enlargement of the lymph nodes in your neck area. Infection is a common cause of enlargement of lymph nodes. I agree with your plan to seek consult with your doctor. A trial of appropriate antibiotic may be given to see if the lymph nodes will regress in size. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Lymph nodes enlarge when there is an infection. The head and neck area have an extensive network of lymph nodes. These lymph nodes function like a filter, and thus increase in size in the presence of infection to filter out organisms. Even with treatment, some lymph nodes remain enlarged. A recurrent infection would further increase the size of the lymph node. However, there are other conditions that can present with lymph node enlargement. Head and neck malignancy is an example.
Avatar n tn I have not been sick with anything since about May, when I experienced a case of pink eye and before that I was sick with a bug in January and strep throat in November. What could be the cause of these apparent lymph nodes? Is it serious, I am extremely nervous? Please help, thanks!
Avatar m tn Before that had 7 lymph nodes removed from the left side of my neck and only 2 of the center lymph nodes were cancerous (squamous cell). Radiation treatment ended in October 2009 Now today March 31, 2010 they did an ULTRA TSH test and my level was high at 7.75. EGFR 51.0. What does this mean? Do I have hyperthyroidism? or Thyroid Cancer?
Avatar m tn m concerned of lymph node cancer? I have read that sometimes, once a lymph node is enlarged it never goes back down to its original size. What should I do about this? Thanks.
Avatar n tn I went to the doctor for a lump in my throat. I have swollen lymph nodes throughtout and a chest x-ray showed hyperinflated lungs and a nodule on my upper right lung also the blood work showed enemia and low platelets. How concerned should I be.
Avatar n tn I have had the most painful lymph nodes on the left of my throat for about 3 months now. I am not sick and not tired. I have a history of skin cancer and I am worried that something serious is going on since my node is swollen. Sometimes I feel this sharp pain in my throat as if there is a cut in my throat. I can't swallow anything. It takes drinking hot fluids for the sever pain in the throat to go away. What is going on?
Avatar n tn It seems that my lump near my throat is not a lymph node. And that the other lymph nodes in my neck are not swollen (at least the one that can be felt by hand), Also that my fever is on the normal range and that the pain in the abdonimal is weird and maybe asymptomatic as it is moving and is not constant. So hopefully everything will be ok. Ofcourse I will go to a doctor when I go back home for a better opinion.
Avatar m tn How long does it take for the lymph nodes in your throat swelling to go down
Avatar m tn Not sure if that could cause painful lymph nodes. I’m kind of worried about having a cancer or leukemia. I have done a full blood test (CBC) that came back normal. I’m just wondering if these are all throat infection why is my CBC blood test normal all the time and the strep throat comes back negative? Mono is negative as well. And the sore throat is usually deep down inside my throat near the thyroid. (did a thyroid test that was normal too). Could this be something serious? I'm 20, male.
Avatar f tn I went to my doctor because I was a little freaked out. He said I had some enlarged lymph nodes in my throat as well (I did not think anything of it because they have always been kind of big). I had mono twice in high school so I assumed they would always be that way. Anways, he had me get a chest x-ray, blood tests, and a complete ultrasound. Everything came back normal (thank God).
Avatar m tn In my twins, allergies do make them have runny noses, sore throats, and sore lymph nodes. The lymph nodes will be sore and swollen during an infection, it is what they are there for. They help you fight infection. Have a doctor check your throat to see if you need antibiotics, he can check your lymph nodes at the same time.
Avatar n tn When the body is fighting an infection, lymphocytes multiply rapidly and produce a characteristic swelling of the lymph nodes. Lymph nodes act as filters or traps for foreign particles and contain white blood cells. These cells then destroy foreign invaders. The anterior cervical lymph nodes, both superficial and deep, lie above and beneath the sternocleidomastoid muscles.
Avatar n tn ive had a swollen lymph node in my throat for about a year now. i came up when i had a sore throat last year and it never went away. nmow it gets bigger and smaller when i have a cold but it still bothers me. my ent said l;ymph nodes wont go away once there active but im still worried. can it be cancer? or am i just too worried?
Avatar f tn suddnly they found cancer in his lymh nodes and ssaid that it had to have been somewhere else first i honestly believe that it was stomach cancer or throat cancer from the h-pyloi this scares me as i still have no ins.
Avatar f tn I don't know how 'paying for tests' works in your country, but I'd looking into saving for the tests, especially given your family history. You might not just be saving money, you might be saving your life. Maybe a local Church or Charity can help?
Avatar n tn They absolutely sound like lymph nodes, and are most likely NOT cancer. I would definitely have them followed-up though with your personal history of cancer. They could be caused by any type of infection, or they could also be shotty lymph nodes that will always stay enlarged. Pea-sized is not big though, and almost everyone can feel a swollen lymph node somewhere on their body.
Avatar m tn The surgical notes and pathology state that all cancer was contained in the thyroid, was removed, and it had not spread. Could a recurrence happen in 6 months? Could the cancer jump to lymph nodes far away? This seems so odd to me.
Avatar f tn It may be something to consider since there are no symptoms of thyroid cancer and the lymph nodes can often be involved.
Avatar m tn hello ive been having swollen lymph nodes for over 2 years on the right side of my neck and it also feels like my throat is on fire please help
