Avatar f tn Hello, Has anyone heard about or taken the Oncalert Orarapid or Oramark test? It is a oral cancer (mouth and throat) saliva test that has been developed for early detection of Oral Cancer. I'm surprised there is no chatter about this test since one of the top HPV concerns right now is head and neck cancer. Currently, it is commercially available in most countries outside of the U.S. Has anyone taken the test, any thoughts, etc? https://www.prnewswire.

Avatar f tn Thyroid cancer is the most common cancer of the endocrine gland cancers. Tumours are offen curable and the prognosis is good for patients identified with early stage disease. Some of them have bad prognosis. After you do a a Fine Needle aspiration cytology(FNAC) you would know the prognosis. Thyroid nodules are readily palpable and that is the reason they allow early diagnosis and detection by biopsy and FNAC. The lymph nodes are also enlarged.
Avatar n tn I was reassuring myself that regular visits to the dentist would allow for early detection and ensure that if I ever do develop oral/throat cancer it would be treated in the early stages and pose little serious threat. Now, however, I feel less confident. I'm sure Michael Douglas had some of the best oral surgeons and ENT's and they still did not detect it. Are regular visits to the dentist really adequate? 4.

Avatar m tn A couple days ago I began to feel the sensation of a small lump in the right side of my throat. I'm unsure what it is and when I stick out my tongue and look down my throat I can't see anything. I don't have any other symptoms other than this lump (no sinus congestion, fever, cough, etc.). If some one could explain to me what could be causing this sensation it would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn Recently read article in blog, womensvoicesforchange.org, regarding early detection of ovarian cancer. One author of the article, Dr. Poynor, discusses the following: "there are newer tests currently in development and in early clinical use that may be helpful in determining the presence of ovarian cancer. These include OvasureTM which is a test developed at Yale and marketed through Labcorp.

Avatar f tn The role of lung cancer screening tests is still not clear. Some studies have led to earlier detection of lung cancer but shown little or no effect on overall cancer survival. Still, I favor attempts at early detection, especially during the first ten years following smoking cessation, especially the technique of sputum cytology. That is the examination of coughed-up sputum, for cancer cells.

Avatar f tn I am a 37 year old mother of 2 beautiful boys, but I have had my fair share of female problems. Beginning after my 2nd boy was born in 2002. I ended up having a hysterectomy in 2005 because of endometriosis and an enlarged uterus. I chose to keep my ovaries because they were working fine. My family history is huge for cancer...mostly on my mother's side.
Avatar n tn My mother had breast cancer and lead a much healthier life style than I have. Unfortunately, cancer is not something that we can avoid. But early detection and educating ourselves on our bodies is our best defense.

Avatar n tn s next to impossible to miss before it turns to cancer. Cervical cancer is a slow developing cancer and paps are key to early detection of the changes in cells.
Avatar f tn Only a clinical examination and tests can confirm the diagnosis. Tests like rapid antigen detection and throat culture may be used. Throat culture is gold standard test for diagnosing streptococcal infection. Consult a physician. Hope it helps. Take care and good luck!
