This past Tuesday, I had a mishap with a very hot piece of food that went straight to my throat for a few seconds, and I drank some cold water real fast. What's strange is that there was hardly any pain then nor until now, four days later (Saturday), however, my voice has been affected (hoarseness). My voice has not come back to normal since, and now I'm starting to get concerned.
If the sore throat is from a virus, there are several at home "remedies" you can try - they won't "cure" the virus that is causing the sore throat, but will make the throat feel better so you're not so miserable - hot tea with honey or lemon (or both), gargling with warm salt water, popsicles. Stick with easy to swallow foods such as applesauce, scrambled eggs, jello - avoid spicy or highly acidic foods.
Yea that was all I threw up when I had morning sickness. I had to force myself to eat and drink so I would throw something else up. Eat lots of salad with grilled chicken or veggies. Half the time I kept everything down but still threw up bile. Get throat lozegens non medicated to coat your throat it will burn or throat after a while. I would lose my voice for days. And remedies didn't help. I lost 20lbs in 2 weeks. Drink lots of Gatorade. That was all my doctor allowed me to drink.
(Have tried all traditional thinning methods - hydration, medication, natural remedies). Voice permanently hoarse. Top left of throat permanently sore (poss vocal fold?) and throat generally is tickly but no infection there. Had chest infection which is now clear. Blue asthma inhaler caused coughing and laryngospasms so was stopped. Steroids helped the original chest problems but don’t help the “new” post-chest infection cough so were stopped.
This is interesting as i went to ENT last year and he said i had over used my voice box and that i must shout a lot!! I do not!
He said no cure just get on with it!
So maybe its the acid causing my lump in my throat and pain in my neck-agony on a bad day, but surely he would have seen something on the big camera he stuck down my throat?!
Before meals, after meals, in between meals, and while sleeping. The acid comes up into the back of my throat and burns my throat raw. I have a very hoarse voice all the time due to the acid reflux. I have been tried on other medications, but these are the ones on my insurance formulary that seem to work the best for me. I have had 2 upper endoscopies over the years, which did not show any issues. During both of those EGDs, I had dilatation of the esophagus.
Rare but serious causes producing these symptoms are vocal cord paralysis and vocal cord tumours.Please see your Otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor) for an evaluation. A detailed clinical examination and tests can help in determining the cause. Treatment will depend on the underlying cause. Hope it helps.

get seen quickly to avoid chronic voice injury that can lead to nodules and permanent changes to voice. Avoid cafffeine and other diuretics and consume additional water for mucous membrane health. Avoid cigarette smoke.
Also be examined for LPR which is laryngopharangeal reflux(a type of GERD) which can cause both voice loss and exacerbation of breathing problems without any sensation of heart burn or other usual symptoms associated with GERD.
Many thanks for response, i am worried about my voice box getting damaged coz by burning sensation in the throat (as i just got a job where i have to use my voice) I just want to know will i damage my back b if i elevate my bed on the head side by 6 inches. my back pains slightlack problemsy after i get my from that position. i also take rabeprezole 20-40 mg as when i have burning throat. anxiously waiting for any answer.
Hi, I am 24 year old and I am experiencing pain on my throat for 2 weeks now. I’m afraid that if this is cancerous or not (hope it is not).
I am a Technical Support Engineer and we are talking on the phone at least 7 hours a day, my shift is 8pm-5 am and I am lacking sleep. 2 weeks ago, I was having hard time talking and there is hoarseness on my voice. I can talk but I can feel the pain in the lower part of my neck. I can’t feel any lump on my neck, but I am having hard time swallowing.

I take allergy medications (antihistamines and steroid nasal spray) and haven't had problems with post nasal drip for a while...I was wondering why that's been happening lately.

She took a pregnancy test and it came up negative. She also just came down with a very sore throat, slight fever, and body aches. She will not take any medicine because she thinks she may still be pregnant, and does not want to hurt the fetus.
What can she take that will both help her get better and at the same time is safe for pregnant women?
I think it has something to do with the jaw, the muscles in the throat and the nerves in the throat which are being vibrated by the vocal chords.
I saw an ENT last fall. He said my vocal chords were just fine. He saw something else a little red but could not see any reason why I couldn't talk. I was a little hoarse at that time but had a lot of pain in my throat.
I would like to be able to sing as I go through school (getting my Masters in Music Education).
