19403315 tn?1479766630 With your help, we aim to help decrease the number of ENS sufferers in the world through rational treatments and education. Your answers to the following questions in this questionnaire will help us assess some of the basic physiologic and geographic associations to ENS, and its impact on quality of life.
1559533 tn?1308948561 Back to Stanford I go, since all I could get out of Fresno is that its just anxiety. They can sort through the mess and maybe they will do a lip biopsy to rule in or out sjogrens. I have most recent MRI's to take with. I will keep you all updated since this is the one place I found intelligent people that seem to care. Thanks everyone for all your input, its what has kept me going.
Avatar m tn Disorders related to dreaming could occur with REM sleep behavior disorders. Here the person acts out the dreams. This can be assessed by a sleep questionnaire and therapy is based on the severity of symptoms. If your symptoms persist, I would advise you to discuss your symptoms with your primary care physician who may then refer you to a sleep specialist for further evaluation. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Avatar f tn I'm still a work in progress :o), so I can't help with your questionairre; however there is a recent article in Clinical Care Options that discusses the term "cure" as is used in HCV management. Here's the addy: http://tinyurl.com/2m9fwn You'll probably be asked to register, but it's quick and free.
Avatar f tn Here I am so close to Stanford and to UCSF does anyone have a good one? My rheu md ordered my mri 'cause my neuro gave me an appt in May and I can't imagine not getting an answer by then!!!! Oh the frustration!!
Avatar f tn The sleep doctor who diagnosed his narcolepsy can answer this based on the sleep study that was performed for the diagnosis. Dr.
974371 tn?1424653129 Been drinking the crystalized ginger and honey to help with the nausea, again suggested by the Stanford doctor. I use the Prevent (?) toothpaste prescribed by my dentist for dry mouth. Just seems to be getting worse, feel like there is a lump in my throat and keep hacking up some mucus. This causes me to be anxious to take 1/2 .05 mg Alprazolam when I need to but have been on that for over 5 years. Just feel like I am going to choke.
Avatar n tn I must take insulin injections and try to balance the dosage with the foods I eat in order to protect my body from damages caused by high blood sugar levels. 4. No, type 1 diabetics can eat most foods as long as we know how many carbohydrates are in those foods. 5. Yes, my identical twin (according to studies, when one twin has type 1 diabetes, 50 percent of the other twins develop it, too) 6. Hospital 7. No, not difficult 8. No, there is a good variety 9.
Avatar f tn I am currently seeing a physician at the Stanford Eye Institute but am thinking of changing physicians since I am now losing some vision due to my dry AMD. thanks! Any info would be appreciated.
631939 tn?1272434532 Thanks for the info. Then stanford is not the right choice for me. My endocrinologist in camino medical doesn't want to do anything with my 4cm nodule so I am thinking of seeing a doc in stanford. UCSF, will be far from my home. I again came to my starting point....This nodule is so frustrating and I don't know what to do. Thank you for the response.
Avatar n tn Basically you will have to use trial and error until you find the solution. It is up to you. Chronic fatigue is a cop-out by the doctor who could not find the root cause of your problems.
1287446 tn?1313947638 00 I’m exhausted and go home and sleep anywhere from 2-5 hours typically, waking up at night (usually) and staying up until anywhere from 2-4 am before getting another few hours of sleep. I’ve found this cycle works the best as far as getting me through the day and getting the most done. Generally one day a week, I will just come home and crash and sleep (of course not non-stop, but I’ll stay in bed) until the following morning when I have to get up for work.
Avatar n tn Would many CFS sufferers be classified narcoleptic if they took the appropriate test? Narcolepsy leads back to hippothalmus and lack of production of hypocretin/orexin(?). Seems like all things lead to hippothalmus. Thank you!
Avatar m tn Central sleep apneas are caused due disorders or lesions in the brain. The peripheral system does not get the right impulses for respiration and hence the stoppage of respiration. As a result the person is aroused from sleep. Regards.
Avatar f tn Although the pt has RLS and PLMS, the arousal associated with these do not likely explain EDS- given a short overall sleep and REM latency, consider narcolepsy clinically. I had 156 arousals, 110 spontaneous, the rest due to limb movement. I also spent most of my sleep time in sleep stages 1 and 2, whith REM episodes scattered randomly. I had no time in stage 3, and when I had REM sleep it was from wake to REM with no progression through the other cycles.
Avatar f tn Hello, Lifestyle treatment of narcolepsy includes taking three or more scheduled naps throughout the day. Patients should also avoid heavy meals and alcohol, which can interfere with sleep. Drugs which have been used for narcolepsy are Modafinil (Provigil) or Armodafinil. You should try the lifestyle measures first before going in for medicines.
Avatar f tn I think I read somewhere that people with Narcolepsy should try to keep the levels above 350. But i am not sure.
Avatar f tn I am diagnosis with narcolepsy and have had symptoms for 5 years now. I have been taking 500 mg. of nuvigil for over 2 years. Plus, 60 mg of adderall a day. My symptoms have slowed down a little, but I have to take 2 naps a day and not drive anywhere. I have sleep studies twice a year and it seems to get worse each time. Its very aggravating to me! It seems like something would help. I see a team of specialists at Vanderbilt, but I need something else, but what? Anyone have any suggestions?
Avatar m tn When a person sleeps the airways are usually patent allowing normal passage for air entry. The upper airway that is at the region of the tongue and the soft palate is the most compliant (soft) part. So, this is liable to collapse and cause airway obstruction. This period of non entry of air is called ‘Apnea’ and the waking up is called an ‘Arousal’.
3227684 tn?1347373065 I have done some researchs on the Internet, and found nothing very interesting, except the fact that it could be a sign of depression. Indeed, I am not in a good mood since two years (it is sometimes better, but still); I fear to have a disease, I fear to die. Moreover, I am obsessed with success in my job. Can these psychological problems be associated with fatigue? Do you identify specific causes to my problem? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Yes. It MIGHT help. The thing is, since the Stanford study, nothing else has been documented and that was 3years ago. I understand how it could work for wd's because it attaches to all those pain receptors but the dose isn't clear. Then there's the danger of use in pregnancy AND how this med affects the heart contractility. So, I don't know if I would tell folks to run out and ask for it.They can certainly ask their doctor about it though.
Avatar f tn i know this probably sounds like withdrawal symptoms of not being on adderrall at the time, and probably for the most part is withdrawal from the medicine. However, the symptoms of narcolepsy are present during times when my medicine is taken. Also i had narcolepsy symptoms before i was ever prescribed to adderrall. i was wondering if i should be tested for narcolepsy, or if diagnosed with narcolepsy would they prescribe me to something similar to adderrall?
974371 tn?1424653129 I am supposed to have the 24-hr Esophageal impedance study done the doc at Stanford wanted. Was told it could only be done at Stanford, which is a hardship to travel to. I called around here and one hospital said they can do it. My GI doc is not with that hospital. Called the other one and Radiology had no idea. Then, my doctor was there and said they could do it. I stressed this is not the regular PH study.
Avatar f tn Have you consulted the sleep specialist to get the sleep study? Hope you have got lot of information on the narcolepsy. Thanks to mastkids for having shared his experience and valuable thoughts. Hope you too are able to get adequate sleep and following up with your doctor. Here are few aspects of the treatment and hope you follow few tips. Ref: http://www.emedicinehealth.com/narcolepsy/page4_em.htm Share your thoughts and keep updating. Take care.
