1253197 tn?1331209110 As far as you question about supplements, I take 2000IU of Vitamin D, a B50 capsule, physillium 3 times a day, Cal/and Mag. 2 333mg, per day, the Cal/Mag is for the IBS, and the physillium too, and for the rest, I just chucked them in there to hlep, and the Dr. did not seem to care about it. But , did mention that 2000 IU of Vit. D is a good thing.
877337 tn?1249844450 Their research was published in the “Journal of American College of Nutrition” in 2007 and showed that the supplement decreased levels of circulating thyroid hormone in the body by affecting the metabolism of the hormone in the liver. It's important to get enough calcium and vitamin D to prevent the formation of early osteoporosis. It is the combination of both calcium and vitamin D that increases the absorption of calcium into the system and the formation of bone.
219363 tn?1189755821 I'm not a doctor, but I did do the Atkin's Diet (prior to becoming hypothyroid) and had great success with it. I lost a lot of weight without feeling hungry, escaped cravings cycles, and felt great with lots of energy. I've read several of Dr. Atkin's books, and he always insists on supplements being part of the plan. Make sure you don't take iron or calcium supplements withing 4 hours of your thyroid hormone though. Good luck!

2215568 tn?1339764975 The diet does work.. I didn't take the drops, I took the injections, the only dislike 4 me is I didn't like given myself the injections. However, one of my co-workers took the drops, stuck to the diet and lost 50lbs in the first month, and it really showed. It does take alot of discipline, and you have to be consistant in order to see the results that you want. Hopefully, you have a good batch of HCG if you order online. Hang in there you can do it! SMILE!

Avatar f tn A healthy affectionate communication with the partner helps in decreasing anxiety and stress. Also get hormone replacement therapy in the form of pills or patches prescribed. Moreover causes need to be ruled out. These include anemia, diabetes and hormonal imbalance. Some investigations which need to be done are follicle stimulating hormone levels, estradiol, thyroxine and thyrotrophin levels in the blood test reports.
Avatar f tn PTH (parathyroid hormone) regulates calcium in the blood.
1116556 tn?1345115906 Since I'm still waiting for my dx, I'm doing a supplement plan that is a variation of what someone here on the forum shared with me that they do. I didn't expect that it would help as much as it has, but I can really feel the difference. I'd be happy to send it to you if you'd like, at which point you should probably check with your doctor on whether it's right for you. I have to stay away from gluten as well.
Avatar f tn No, unless your hypothyroidism is exclusively caused by lack of iodine in the diet. This is pretty rare if you live in North America, where most hypothyroidism is caused by Hashimoto's thyroiditis. If you have Hashimoto's, your body is attacking your thyroid. While you may be able to lower the amount of antibodies with supplements, you are not going to be able to stop the attack entirely.
Avatar f tn Come on over to the Weight Loss and Dieting community here on MedHelp. The group there is great for support and ideas. I have been reading the book "The Hormone Diet" and it explains why some of us just aren't losing weight and has suggestions for different supplements and diets to help us depending on what our hormone issues are.
Avatar f tn Your physician may be able to check your hormone levels and, if necessary, prescribe additional vitamin or mineral supplements. At the very least, she can reassure you that some hair loss is normal. Reduce your anxiety. Stress plays a big role in your body's overall health, including the health of your hair. Feeling stressed out can actually increase the amount of hair loss. Eat well. Pregnancy-related hair loss can be a symptom of a diet deficient in essential vitamins and nutrients.
1382889 tn?1505071193 My son is on gluten free, dairy free diet along with numerous supplements from his doc, and no longer has the extreme behavioral problems he had with his autism. The diet worked better than powerful medications, of which he no longer takes any! More docs are starting to recommend trying gluten free for 4 weeks if you have certain ongoing medical issues and see if you feel better. Search "gluten sensitivity" and you'll find all the conditions they're linking it with.
Avatar f tn I'm thinking of starting the hcg diet in drops form and I have lupus. I haven't asked my doctor about it but my guess is that he will say i shouldnt do it.
Avatar m tn It is best to look into what supplements you take before buying them. Don’t buy into they hype and recognize that most supplement companies are only interested in making money off your quest to find a quick fix. Do your homework, actually read the information on supplement bottles, not just the advertisements. You want to support your natural testosterone levels not replace them.
Avatar f tn I do recognise that it is just as possible that any improvements may have happened anyway without the therapy or diet. But the other side of the coin is that there may have been no improvement without the interventions/diet. It's a tough call. I think it is also sensible to have your child tested for allergies. But from my point of view anything involving needles or skin ***** tests are out of the question for my son. And other types of testing (eg.
1332403 tn?1278859824 Is it to late to start to help with strengthing my body on the inside? Is there one pill I can take? My diet, I dont drink soda, I havent eaten fast food in 11 years. I love cooking so I am not a picky eater. So what I am eating is good but I dont think its enough. What should I look into to help to age more gracefully? Trust me if you seen my picture I dont look 43..lol. I would like to keep the guessing game going on the outside as well as the inside.
2192208 tn?1346525832 I love diet coke and coffee but if i dont eat with the diet coke or the coffee, i get these horrible anxiety attacks. I read that caffiene can be a trigger for a lot of people when they are low thyroid. I also read (and dont know if this is true) that caffeine essentially can lower t3 and its usage while in the system.. I wonder.... I got hooked on seagrams club sodas to the point i was going to start having it come out of my ears... then i went back to the diet cokes again...
Avatar m tn Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is hormone that is naturally produced in our bodies and decreases after the age of 30. It serves as a pre-curser for the sex hormones, androgen and estrogen. There is evidence in support of the use of DHEA for help with adrenal insufficiency, depression, and lupus; however; there are no studies of long term effects. DHEA may increase the risk of prostate, breast, or any hormone sensitive cancers and it is recommended only to be taken under the supervision of a MD.
Avatar m tn How were you treated for Graves Disease? Are you now hypo? Are you on thyroid replacement hormones? If so, which ones, what dosage and for how long have you been on it? It's possible that you need to increase your med dosage, if you aren't losing weight. Typically, when thyroid hormone levels are adequate weight will come off. If you have current labs you could post, that would be helpful for us.
Avatar m tn I have had Diabetes for 25 years now. Last year, I was diagnosed with CAD after a stress test and had two stents placed in my right coronary artery the next day. A month ago, I had another stress test that revealed some re-narrowing of the arteries, consequently I had three more stents placed. My diet has been as heart healthy as I can possibly make it, I try to keep saturated fats under 20mg per day as recommended.
Avatar f tn Supplementation with thyroid hormone is the standard medical treatment for underactive thyroid. Some hormone medication, however, is better than others. This is because many people to not respond well to T4 (thyroxine) alone. Thyroxine does normalise blood tests, but it cannot relieve low thyroid symptoms until is has been converted it to T3, the active hormone. Failure to make this conversion is common. (Selenium, zinc, vitamin B6 and other co-factors are required.
Avatar n tn To thread poster - if masturbate TOO much, your hormones will decrease, especially growth hormone and testosterone - this is the reason for your weak feeling of low bone density. I advise you to cut down drastically on masturbartion. For foods, eat plenty of boiled carrots for vitamin A etc. Also, drink plenty of milk (or soya milk if you are lactose intolerant) for calcium - or other calcium enriched foods. Plenty of vegetables are advised too for long lasting energy and strength.
