Avatar m tn fluid consumption is within limits as that also tend to aggravate the CHF. One has to ensure that the blood pressure, heart rate & lipids are kept under control. Please do consult your cardiologist also.I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
Avatar n tn If one has increased functionality of the heart, the drug may be dropped, also, there can be a tolerance that develops with digoxin that may require discontinuation for a period of time.
Avatar n tn It is my understanding the medication is used to increase contractility of the pumping chambers. My medication for stablizing heart rate is a beta blocker (coreg) and an ACE inhibitor. My research: "Digoxin is contraindicated in patients with ventricular fibrillation. Digoxin should generally be avoided in patients with preserved left ventricular systolic function, although it has been used for ventricular rate control in the subgroup of patients with chronic atrial fibrillation.
Avatar f tn After the process , the levels are checked to see whether the required levels of above 95 % or more have been reached or not . Hope this helps you . Take care and regards !
4703993 tn?1379768388 We then tried Verapamil 20mg (once again very small dose but it did not work, it lowered my resting heart rate to 38, which made me feel like I was going to faint all of the time, and when I was standing or walking around I was very tachycardic) so needless to say my body does not respond correctly to calcium channel blockers..
Avatar n tn I took Digoxin for a number of years in reponse to an atrial fibrillation event. My new physician did not feel I needed to be on it any longer. What are the side effects of discontinuing this medication? I have been off it for several months and some odd changes in my body.
Avatar f tn hi, i want to ask you that which of the digoxin or verapamil are better for prophylactic treatment of paroxysmal superaventricular tachycardia for sone one who was treatet with intravenous adenosine?
Avatar n tn Hi, The doctor has rightly prescribed you lisinopril which plays an important role in cardiomyopathy in improving the functioning of the heart. I’ll also suggest the use digoxin for you which tend to improve the ejection fraction of heart and also improve the symptoms of congestive heart failure and it’s especially used for patients who have low blood pressure. Apart from that, I’ll suggest a low intake of salt and water. I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted. Kind Regards.
Avatar n tn I did goto the ER a few weeks back when my heart rate was 158 bpm and a bp of 198/110, the EMT said I was having an anxiety attack. When I got to the hospital they ran tests and noted that I had no level of digoxin in my blood. While in the ER I fell asleep and my heart rate went up to 160bpm. They gave me a beta blocker and a shot of digoxin and told me I had tachycardia. I went to my cardiologist, she increased my digoxin from .25 to .
Avatar f tn Also of particular concern for women is the recent finding that digoxin increases the risk of breast cancer among postmenopausal women. The researchers found that the use of digoxin for at least a year was associated with a 30% greater risk of being diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. Digoxin has a very narrow threputic window. Many patients start on a dosage of 250 mg per day. But this is often too little for some patients and too much for others.
Avatar n tn Hi, Congestive heart failure, is a condition in which the heart can no longer pump enough blood to the rest of the body. With heart failure, many organs don't receive enough oxygen and nutrients, which damages them and reduces their ability to function properly. This includes the kidneys, liver and the lungs. Pulmonary edema or fluid in the lungs is a complication of CHF. Metabolic acidosis and hypoperfusion are reactions of the body to the organs that are not functioning well.
Avatar f tn They haven't checked the levels in awhile. I will definitely ask about that when I seen the cardiologist next week. Digoxin was the first thing they tried ans it didn't work at first. The they tried flecainide along with the digoxin but that made my heat rate fast. All I had to do is stand up and I was at 160. So they took me off that 2 days after putting me on it. After the flecainide was out of my system the babus heart rate was all the sudden normal!
Avatar m tn I took Amiodarone for 9 months for SVTs. I stopped the drug because of the nasty side effects. The skipped beats were gone by then and haven't returned since.
Avatar n tn 3 indicates a large shunt. I do not understand the rest of the numbers you report. The indications for surgery are elevated pressures in the lungs and/or failing to thrive. Since the child appears to be growing the cardiologist is giving him time to prove whether or not the hole can get smaller in the next couple of months. The surgeon is saying that this hole has a strong likelihood of needing to be fixed in the future.
471161 tn?1317190950 My PCP told me it could be the Metoprolol and I have been off of it for 4 days now. My heart rate is fine and I was down to a very low dose anyway. I am wondering if it will take longer to get it out of my system or if it may be the Digoxin ro something completely different. Please if anyone has experienced this let me know.
Avatar m tn Medications such as digoxin and beta blockers help to improve the pumping capacity of the heart. Discuss these options with your consulting doctor. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Synthroid can cause all the symptoms you mention (except, to my knowledge, the vision problems). However, most of those symptoms could also be the result of undermedication of Synthroid (i.e. you are still hypo and need a Synthroid increase or change to other meds). Atenolol slows your HR and lowers your BP, so that is not likely the cause of your tachy, in fact, it should be helping to control it.
2021358 tn?1328748117 Vagal nerve is as you probably know, part of the autonomic nervous system. An electrophysiclogical (EP) cardiologist would be the specialist to see. (I don't know why the neurologists don't treat it, but they don't) I have POTS and am sure I also have vagal nerve damage, was seen at Mayo clinic in FL. Beacuse I also have heart problems, the neurologist and cardiologist got together and prescribed DIGOXIN.
Avatar f tn t though, there are several alternatives. A-fib is not really related to thyroid problems. The kind of heart flutters from being hyper are not the same. Hope this helps. There should be a cardiac forum to post on to hear if the drug has any side effects.
Avatar n tn Could taking digoxin and lisinopril before I get up make me short of breath and wheeze?
Avatar m tn s have been wasted now i have decided that stop that by any drugs plzzzz tell me of any drugs that i can stop he is on digoxin and diuretics for heart problem (up to now he has not told me that he is having heart problem & i don't know what the problem is.....) soooo plz help me save my family.........
Avatar n tn I am wondering if you are uneasy about taking digoxin. If so, I would ask you cardio if you can get by with just the TOPROL XL. Digoxin, xanax, toprol xl, and lisinoprol seems like a lot of stuff to be taking. I am a runner and only take TOPROL XL 12.5mg. This knocks out my extra beats and really slows my heart down. A little seems to go a long way for me.
