cpap

Avatar n tn Another reason is pressure by the mask on the face, preventing venous outflow from the eyelids. Loosening (not too much to cause a leak) the straps is one option, and another option is to change masks. If he's only recently started using the mask, I would give it some more time to get used to. If it's not improved, talk to your durable goods equipment company or your sleep doctor.
Avatar f tn Now I am wondering if the lung nodules could have been caused by my uncleaned CPAP, which frequently had old and unwashed tubing and masks. Anyone know of an established correlation? Also, my brother tells me that the guidelines for replacing masks, tubing, etc. have recently been revised to shorter periods. Of course insurance companies probably haven't revised anything. Does anyone know anything about that? I can't seem to find info on it.
Avatar m tn I am a 32 year old male diagnosed with sleep apnea, so I was given an auto-pressure CPAP machine. Just as soon as I started using the machine it felt like I was struggling to exhale. The sleep company representitive said that the machine starts out using the lowest possible pressure, so I shouldn't be having a problem. I tried to use the machine for a couple of hours and I had the sensation that I had to take off the machine and struggle for breath, as I can't seem to exhale.
Avatar f tn Changing the tubing, keeping it spotless, did not help prevent infection for me. Stopping the cpap treatment, is the only thing that prevented the chronic lung infections...and I always used the humitifer, which never helped prevent any infection... I regret ever having the sleep study and I regret what all the money and time it cost me, and the suffering of 3 years of lung infections...I am so done using the cpap treatment!
Avatar f tn I got a cpap machine back in 08 after being diagnosed with sleep apnia during the process of getting a lap band. I never really used the cpap and kinda put up with the apnia. The last few days the apnia has been unusually bad and i actually had a seizure from it saturday morning so i went ahead and used the cpap saturday and sunday night. The level i beleive is set at 18.
608104 tn?1352587153 I am a failure using a CPAP but if I give it up, I risk sleep apnea. For 12 months, the pulmonologist, the home health supplier's respiratory consultant, and I have been doing a difficult dance. I can only sleep 2-3 hours before waking gasping for air with chest pain. The cardiac tests recently have been ok. I think part of the chest pain is rib cage pain. I am now using an Auto-pap. My insurance company is paying rental fees and doctor visit fees because this equipment is not helping.

Need advice.. Any ideas.....thanks...
Avatar m tn Obstructive Sleep Apnea or OSA is tough on the heart. Low oxygen levels in the blood cause the heart to beat faster and a sufferer may abruptly awake with a elevated, pounding heart. I had a very severe case of it years ago. A particularly bad night would leave by heart skipping for days. A sleep study and CPAP therapy completely cured the problem. Yo umight want to look into breathing problems while you sleep as a cause for your problem.
Avatar n tn Thanks scarlet37 for your valuable suggestions and positive assurance to jeaton for continuing the use of CPAP machine. Usually the one with sleep apnea does suffer from excessive daytime sleepiness, fatigue, feeling unrefreshed after sleeping and daytime sleep attacks, night sweats, morning dry mouth or sore throat and headaches. Commonly seen in Men with a family history, obese, large neck circumference, a recessed chin, and abnormal airway.
1285653 tn?1288358629 Today I went to a home healthcare company to pick up my CPAP machine since I was dx with sleep apnea last Thursday. whoo-hoo. It is truly my hope that sleep apnea is causing all my symptoms of memory loss, dizzyness, fatigue... However, should I still see the chiari specialist. Dr. Di. My appointment is next month so my CPAP will have been being used for 30 days so I should know if my symptoms have settled. It is a six hour drive from my home so it is always a two day trip.
9070037 tn?1414632966 Yes you can use the CPAP machine and will find it will help you and will nto harm your baby.
Avatar n tn I use a C-PAP device, but still must have window open (if in winter) to sleep. I sleep best with moving air. When the air is completely still at night, I feel panicky. What can I do? My psychiatrist only prescribes medications.
Avatar n tn There are two possible solutions: move to one of the new mini CPAP masks. Second use Refresh PM ointment in both eyes at bedtime and Refresh or Systane ULTRA artifical tears on awakening.
Avatar m tn I found out what it was. The CPAP machine mask I just bought was putting pressure on my eye nerves. The air blowing through the tube was blowing straight into my eyes. No wonder I couldn't focus and my eyes were having problems focusing. I have only been using the machine a few days. Who knows what kind of damage it could have done. I called up the supply company and destroyed their ears for about a half an hour!
Avatar n tn I got their sample pack thing online. You only pay for shipping and they send you trial sized products and 7 diapers and a few wipes (you do have to call to cancel the membership though). I'll give them a try when the baby comes, but they feel kind of thin to me.
Avatar f tn I just got a cake made out of the cutest diapers by the honest comp. From my aunt..I wonder how good they actually work tho...im happy 2 have them cuz their adorable (little skull cartoons all over them)..but 2 expensive 2 get them all the time...These ones were a gift soo...
Avatar f tn Not bad for 5 bucks. You also get the choice to try their prenatals instead but I chose the baby supplies!
Avatar f tn The diapers are really cute and if I had the money to blow I would consider buying them out of cuteness alone. After research I do not feel the company is very transparent nor did I see thier ingredients/materials being any safer than the targets diapers I used with my first. I was also a little sour when I was trying out honest products and the ingredients and composition were identical to the products I had been making myself.
4915340 tn?1360965940 The lack of response by others may be for the same reason I have passed you post up a couple of time: I don't know what UARS stands for, same for OSA. This may well mean I/we don't have knowledge/experience that would be helpful. Just a thought, you may want to spell them out.
559187 tn?1330782856 Your feedback is invaluable, thanks so much. Since my sleep study was supposed to be a split-night, the tech had me try out several masks before I went to bed. We didn't end up doing CPAP that night as I didn't meet the criteria in the first 2 hours, but the helpful part was that I did get to see which mask helped most. I think I tried the one you mentioned Mary and I liked it too. So, that will be the one I try out when I go back in on Aug 15th.
Avatar n tn I agree with Brooke. It sounds like sleep apnea; get a sleep study done as soon as possible. I had the same symptoms for the last year or so - would wake up thinking I was taking my last breath, just awful. Had the sleep study done, and yep I have mild to moderate apnea. Now sleep like a baby with the aid of CPAP and feel much more refreshed. Didn't like the machine at first but ended up loving it.
Avatar n tn Therefore, experiment for 3-4 days with a pre-determined amount of sleep (8 hours for example), then assess how you feel during the day. Do the same for 9 hours, etc. Sometimes too much sleep can make people feel less alert upon waking due to “sleep inertia” but you may feel more alert during the day. Dr.
