Common Questions and Answers about Testosterone vs progesterone

androgel

Avatar f tn s it declines more rapidly until it ceases. During perimenopause our hormone levels (Estrogen, Progesterone, and Testosterone) decrease, and ovulation slowly begins to come to an end... If you're interested in becoming pregnant, my advice would be to start keeping track of your ovulation and menstrual cycles now. Also consult your Ob/Gyn if you have any concerns. The healthier and better shape you're in will definitely influence any possible pregnancy and transition into menopause...
631270 tn?1224862606 I just recently joined this site and have found the information very helpful. I have a question though. I had my uterus removed when I was 29 due to complications from child birth. I'm now 43 and am having both ovaries removed on Tuesday due to a large cyst. My question is-does anyone know about taking hormome replacement shots once a month. My dr said it was a combination and had B-12 and testosterone in it. Haven't really been able to find information on it anywhere else.
Avatar f tn I have gained about 20 lbs since IC diagnosis, probably because I came down with chronic migraines at the same time and a lot of my meds can cause weight gain. But what I wanted to ask was how are your hormone levels- I had these checked due to other symptoms and I had no testosterone in my body (female, 32 at the time) and Leo progesterone. I can remember my urologist commenting that low hormone levels was not uncommon in IC. I lost 12 lbs the first month I took progesterone& testosterone.
Avatar f tn im not seeing an endocrine doctor, im seeing a hormone specilist. im currently on natural progesterone and natural testosterone. im very very sensitive to artificial hormones so i really cant take them. and i never really understood how to chart my temps so i guess i should probably figure that one out.
Avatar n tn I am a 25 year old female, I had a saliva hormone kit evaluated with testosterone, DHEA, estradiol, and progesterone, also progesterone/estradiol ratio done. The results came back as this, Estradiol- normal Progesterone- Low; 47.2 (range of 127-446) Ratio of Progesterone to estradiol - 33.0 Low; (range of 200-600) Testosterone- 83.5 High; (range of 6.0-49) DHEA- 366.7 High- (range of 106-300) I can tell that i have way higher 'male hormones' than the women's hormones but, why?

Avatar f tn when men get older they make less testosterone and in our industrial world men loose it quicker progesterone is the building blocks for testosterone so if he does not have the building material how would he build the finished item. its safe and very good for yourself aswell, it has so many benefits for women its mad they dont prescribe it from doctors. well its not mad its economics they cant make any money from it as its not a drug. take a look at this website http://www.progesterone.co.
Avatar n tn I am diagnosed as Hypothyroid and just had my Adrenals tested which came back as 23, the levels for all tests were 7,6,6,4. The 8:00 a.m. test was very low. I also had my perimenopausal hormone panel done. The results came back with Estrone being an 18 on the 2nd sample and my progesterone were 19 and 23. My doctor suggests that I may need to take some form of adrenal rebuilder and possible Progesterone.
358971 tn?1330888975 t gone away, so hopefully the progesterone cream will make it better if it is b/c of testosterone (doc says progesterone will make testosterone levels better).
Avatar f tn I had low progesterone & high testosterone even before pregnancy, then during pregnancy. I was scared because your body needs progesterone to maintain pregnancy. My doc had me use a supplement cream to boost levels and I had a smooth pregnancy.
Avatar n tn Topicals typically are more of a problem for men than women. This is true for testosterone cream etc. Men also need very little progesterone so I would tend to recommend you ask your Dr about a compounded cream to apply to scrotum. This may achieve best what you are looking to achieve.
1369218 tn?1282423884 I am seeing a new endo in a few weeks. I am low in progesterone, but was told it can cause testosterone to rise if you take supplements. I already have the hair growth thing going on too. My testosterone is elevated at times and normal other times. My periods are doing better since eating gluten free though. I was clotting so bad a few months ago I became anemic. I just feel like a big ball of a mess. I cannot seem to get it all to work right anymore. I used to be able to lose weight.
Avatar n tn The second component in Prempro is called Provera stated progesterone - but its really not human progesterone or progesterone at all. Human estrogen is actually a blend of three different molecules. Estriol, estrone and estradiol. These are specific blends to each individual and they have got to be properly balance for the individual to maintain wellness and ward off disease and counter act with human progesterone and testosterone for balance.
1139187 tn?1355706647 Yes I had all three.. My level 215 vs 400-500 normal. Started testosterone, making me nsuseas. I think the more tots I take the more hypo I get...
Avatar n tn or the Vivelle patch? Estratest? Bioidentical Progesterone? And, what about testosterone, either gel or cream, which we women can use "off-label" but some formulas can be put on the cliteral/genital area and work wonders regarding the issue you mentioned.
484508 tn?1290010544 I had been on Androgel for low testosterone, but it did nothing, so I started testosterone therapy replacement using pellets, a newer procedure. I am 65. After 7 days, I was hit with overwhelming anxiety, panic, the yawns. Today it is a bit better- Today is day 8. I had no idea that testosterone replacement could cause anxiety. I took the stuff because I had anxiety, that Celexa had done a tremendous job of helping. I had to take a Klonopin last night because I was so anxious.
Avatar n tn I use Biestrogens ( estradiol/estrone) and progesterone and DHEA , At my last visit with her, she told me that women who only has their uterus out and still keeps their ovaries will develop early hormonal issues with the adrogens our bodies produce. Being, Progesterone/testosterone. These are the hormones that help us sleep soundly, keep away depression and anxiety.. Progesterone and testosterone production also helps our muscles stay more firm and more easily toned..
594189 tn?1386916607 t worry at all about that! as far as testosterone causing lower progesterone not sure about that, but do know that low progesterone is SUPER common! and such an easy fix! GOOD LUCK!
546831 tn?1262742429 We found out that he has extremely low testosterone. He is now being sent to a Urologist. Could this have caused my miscarriages? If so, what will they do next and what could come from all of this?
Avatar n tn In Feb 2009 I was diagnosed by Dr. hypothyroid started cytomel after 2 months rechecked labs added synthroid. TSH was <0.1. 2 months later still no change--no med change. Went to Endocronologist and she ordered numerous labs. Thinks may be pituitary tumor. Symptoms are weight gain without being able to loose any, night sweats--recent hysterectomy, cold intolerance only during daytime. Occasional hair loss --not bad.
Avatar f tn I was taking it two months and I got pregnant right away and they said I had low progesterone and night testosterone levels, not enough to her to worry but enough to stop my period I started taking that and it came within a month.
975514 tn?1324997938 I just was diagnosed by my doctor with low testosterone, progesterone and DHEA. What causes this? Does anyone here know? I wasn't sure in which forum to post such a question. I have suffered a miscarriage in the past (6 years ago) and am fairly sure it has something to do with this. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
Avatar m tn 1 - If I go through a period of stress, my body will produce more Cortisol than normal. Too much Cortisol leads to the depletion of Progesterone. Progesterone is needed to oppose oestrogen in men. If this goes on for long enough a man (yes, and a woman) can become oestrogen Dominant (too much oestrogen relative to Testosterone). By lowering stress and thus.. reducing cortisol, my progesterone levels should return to normal levels.
