Avatar m tn What are these herbal supplements used for? Since herbal supplements in general are not regulated by the FDA, I would be careful as they may or may not be 100% of what they say on the label. Because supplements are "natural" or herbal, they still are not without side effects or ingredients which you might be sensitive to or which might cause adverse reactions within your body.
Avatar f tn Hi! So I'm an 18 year old female (5'4, 110 lb, if it is relevant). I don't necessarily have PCOS, I simply have naturally high testosterone levels. However, they're only mildly high -- but I do have significant symptoms resulting from them, such as vaginal dryness and hair loss. I was wondering which method would be better: a very low dose hormone replacement treatment regime of estrogen and progesterone, or a controlled herbal remedy such as pueraria mirifica.

Avatar m tn , as that would have helped to estimate your base line levels. In case you have not taken recently some herbal medicines to boost up testosterone, or some drugs that interferes with brain functions, I would think that these levels were more or less of the same range even before. But, higher estrogen levels indicate high fat level in your body and possibly combined with high average insulin levels. Reducing estrogen level would definitely be helpful.
Avatar m tn that's funny i'm trying to increase my libido and testosterone. This isn't really a good option, but i've heard weed can decrease testosterone levels..............
Avatar m tn s natural healing mechanisms to target the cause of the problem, as opposed to merely tackling the symptoms. It would be wrong to present herbal hair loss remedies as a miracle solution for all sufferers - there is however growing evidence to support the view that some herbal remedies offer real hope to many people. Let's examine the case for some of the more popular remedies to determine if they're worth trying.
7843530 tn?1395009668 I was expecting to hear that I had too much estrogen, not too much testosterone! Are there herbal supplements or vitamins that encourage a decrease in testosterone? I don't have insurance so beyond what the walk-in clinic already told me, I'm kind of on my own in terms of trying to fix this. I'd appreciate any further feedback--I'm really tired of skipping periods for no apparent reason!
523927 tn?1257018704 re on a relaxant for your heart palps. The best herbal testosterone builder is yohimbe, and maca can also be useful. There are formulas made for this purpose as well combining several substances. As for the HDL, take a lot more of those fish oil caps. You can also take flax and hemp oils. Eating fish and spirulina can also help. As for the CoQ10, you might be able to do just as well with 100 and 200 and save some money.
Avatar n tn Hi to cure my acne and hair growth my dermatologist recommends to use a hormone pill (sponalactaid i think?) to reduce my high testoterone level. My mother had breast cancer because of hormone pills so I refuse to take it. Instead, I researched ways to lower testosterone "naturally" and came across an herbal supplement called Macafem which claims to affect the pituatry gland to make the hormones produced more "balanced" Anyone heard of this and is this true?
Avatar f tn My partner was diagnosed having low testosterone last year. He has been having low sex drive and problems with erection for some time now. He was prescribed testosterone cream application which he has been regularly using ..now his blood testosterone is back to the normal range but he still continues to face the same issues. Lately, he has also experienced noticeable reduction in the frequency of "sexual" dreams and morning erections. We are currently in couples therapy too....
Avatar m tn Hi and welcome, i have head that they can increase it but at your age you should have a PSA test done before, as if you are at risk for prostate cancer, adding more testosterone, it can increase the risk.
Avatar m tn Having trouble getting my testosterone to normal levels. Have tried a lot of herbal type supplements - take a good mix of vitamins (A, B, C, D, E, CoQ10, aminos, NAC, Lipoic Acid, Betaine ) Here is my most recent endocrine results - very not pretty (reference ranges in brackets) AM Cortisol 474 nmol/L (200 - 690) Estradiol 20 pmol/L (0 - 160 ) Note I recently starting take a fairly large amount of DIM and eating 3 cups cabbage a day - Estradiol used to be around 110 just two months ago.
Avatar f tn Since my cortisol levels have been very low in the morning for months and all the herbal adaptogens aren't working, my doc is going to start me on a low dose of HC. Since I'm allergic to all the fillers, it has to be compounded. I know some people have had bad experiences with HC, but I really hope this helps. If I can get my adrenals back in to shape, maybe my thyroid will follow. I also found out I've been taking my sex hormone supplements at the wrong time of day.
484508 tn?1290010544 Are they anxiety of something else perhaps? I was so concerned I got a blood test from my PCP to rule out testosterone issues, diabetes or thyroid....No results yet. The symptoms---feel like I am wired---sensation like I drank 10 cups of coffee, chest uncomfortable, voice kind of hoarse, constant urination, bowel movements frequently.agitation, morning fear., insomnia.
Avatar n tn im 24, 6ft and have a really hard time gaining muscle, i have little to no sex drive and i have had a complete lack of any drive for a while now... so i had a blood test done at my primary care doctor to check my testosterone levels when i got the results they said "your numbers are normal." so i asked if i could have the number and she said 304. i had done some research and from what i have read 304 is on the low side especially for someone who is 24...
Avatar n tn I would suggest that you have your total testosterone and thyroid function checked. If your TOTAL testosterone is low, then a prolactin level, sex hormone binding globulin level and repeat total testosterone level would be indicated. Free testosterone levels are quite unreliable, so I would not obtain that. There are testosterone supplements (not pills) that can be prescribed if your levels are low. S.A.Liroff, M.D.

Avatar n tn You should have a complete blood work done checking for cholesterol, thyroid function, blood sugar, free testosterone, serum testosterone, random testosterone, estradiol, cortisol, hepatic profile, prolactin, ....... be honest with your doctor and ask for his/her opinnon. Complete physical. Tell all symptoms even though some seem unimportant. To find a cure everything has to be presented to a qualified individual. It is kind of embarassing as I have been through it.
Avatar f tn ) I was apprehensive about taking hormones (estrogen) and my doctor told me he had success with something new that was being done and it was a very very small dose of testosterone. It hardly looks like there is anything in the syringe but I get it everything 3 weeks and my hot flashes are gone! If I don't get them, they come right back.
Avatar m tn besides drugs that treat ed are there any herbal vitamins or supplements that help?
Avatar f tn Another reason could be a natural drop in hormone levels (progesterone, estrogen, and testosterone decreasing) that can sometimes cause a hormonal imbalance ~ which has a direct affect on sexual arousal and pleasure. You could speak with your doctor about this sudden loss of feeling, and you can also research 'Sexual Side Effects of Perimenopause'.
