Common Questions and Answers about Testosterone and the heart

androgel

Avatar m tn I have just written a book on curing heart disease naturally and that was one of the chapters. The UK medical journal, Heart, wrote that during one of their studies men with low testosterone levels were at double the risk of dying than men with higher testosterone levels. Considering you have heart problems now, it would probably be a good idea to go the way of the hormone replacement for the time being so you get the protection of the raised levels.
Avatar n tn High Im a 31 year old male who has been having skipped or fluttering beats while getting a dizzy or freakout type feeling exactly as it happens in my chest for a few years now, i went to the doctor and he diagnosed me with having low testosterone and pvc's after some blood tests and a checkup, since i have been on the androgel testosterone supplement and greatly reduced my caffeine intake my fluttering of skipped beats( FEELS LIKE A PAUSE THEN A HARD THUMP) ive noticed that it has been way
Avatar f tn lol trust me natural progesterone will make your husband like a 20 year old man with his sex drive and its cheap with not one side effect and can take with his heart meds i think being as your body makes progesterone male and female so substituting with more progesterone is safe.
Avatar m tn Does extra testosterone increae the penis size for men between the ages of 15 and 17 years old?
Avatar f tn Hi Paxiled... I didn't get that the O.P. is already taking the B-12 and testosterone; I took it that he was just asking if he "did" take them, would they help him lose weight... I hope I understood correctly because I'd hate to see anyone headed for trouble. 46 isn't so old that one can't bounce back from injuries and be in pretty good shape again - I did, not only in my upper 40's but again at 60...
Avatar m tn They can do it with a 24 hour urine test and an MRI or CT scan. Also I had a heart ablation last July for the Afib at the Heart Hospital of Austin in Austin Tx and so far it has fixed my Afib... I had a few PVCs the first 60 days following the ablation and that was all... just a real regular heart rate now... they told me it takes the heart 3 months to heal following an ablation.. but in my mind its more like 5 months for everything to get back to normal...
Avatar m tn I am regrettably on the verge of a 1st degree heart block and also lvh is quiet visible. to understand the anatomy and physiology of the heart and muscular system will explain alot. obviously your heart is a muscle so with training it's going to grow somewhat but when u factor in things such as obesity or significant muscle mass your heart then as much more tissue to perfuse then it eer has before more resistance if you will.
Avatar n tn Im 20, in somewhat good shape other than the heart....I get palpitations, hard beating sometimes, and need to have the valve replaced soon. Pretty much everything I ever look at says a warning about taking with heart disease but im wondering why or is that more directed towards older people with worse problems. I can still work out and go run miles so I feel like I should be fine.
Avatar m tn Even if you feel the urologist did something improper by giving your dad the shots he was taking, being mad at the urologist is displaced anger at the situation, and is not going to improve the medical situation for your father, which is the primary issue. Your dad may have told himself he was doing it for his mood (even if you suspect otherwise) but obviously it hasn't solved this problem, and the issue now is to get him out of the hole he is in emotionally if he can get out of it.
Avatar m tn What could be causing the low FSH and LH? How can I raise these levels? Is there a relation between the low FSH+LH and the T? And should I undergo testosterone therapy? Thanks. Avatar m tn I took a blood test and I am waiting for the results. It is testing my random testosterone, cortisol, estradiol, dhea levels and my hepatic profile. I have no problems with my testicles no lump, pain, swelling, heavy feeling nothing, except above my left testicle the vein is more pronounced.Kind of feels like a "bag of worms". My penis is at least average size and my testicles are also at least average size and normal equal consistency.
Avatar m tn Hi sam2889, I'm sorry that you are going through this - it can be difficult to diagnose a thyroid problem, especially when you have symptoms but hormone levels in the normal range. I was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's (last week!). My thyroid hormone numbers are within the normal range: TSH 3.44 (0.450-4.500) FT4 1.44 (0.82-1.77) FT3 3.2 (2.0-4.4) but I have had mild hypo symptoms for years including irregular periods.
Avatar m tn Given the symptoms and history of TBI, I would strongly consider an MRI to look for damage to the pituitary gland (point at your temple and between your eyes and the pituitary roughly is where the lines intersect). If the pituitary is damaged, which can happen with blunt trauma to the head, levels of the hormones that trigger your endocrine glands (e.g., testicles) to make hormones (e.g., testosterone) can be significantly lowered. This leads to lower levels of endocrine hormones.
Avatar m tn In addition to that I have muscle pain all over my body and have the urge to squeeze and tighten my muscles all of the time, especially my legs, back and stomach. I also suffer from extreme tiredness and fatigue, from falling asleep when driving to dozing off at work no matter how much sleep I got the night before. The pain, weakness, lack of range of motion is making everything from showering and dressing to cleaning myself after the bathroom, feels like a full workout in the gym.
Avatar m tn t get me in for a couple of months, so the Dr. did more tests. I just got those results and am very confused. The testosterone is good, pituitary good and my Tsh is .64, T4=.8 and freet3=3.4. I still feel cruddy. These test were less than 2 weeks apart. Has anyone had this happen? I still have my appt. with the endo. Any info would be great. I read about hashimotos and I do have the symptoms for that. Thanks!
Avatar n tn Thanks for the response. CABG for the LAD would probably have been a good option, expecially given that an artery is typically used. Is it possible to perform CABG on a full-metal jacket? My cardiologist did say that surgeons are now cutting away the stent material that is blocking the grafting area. Is this something that is becoming more common and what are the potential pitfalls of this approach? By the way, I have all my procedural reports at www.lumponablog.
Avatar n tn im 46 dizzy low energy excersize sometimes makes it worse depending on what im doing ive had all the heart stuff done and no blockage my doctors seems very layed back about this, did some blood work and only said mt cholesteraol was a little high but never mentioned thyroid or any orther stuff...id like an mri just too make sure, the doctor in tucson sounds great do you have his name i live in casa grande az?
Avatar m tn m still on. During the year of 2008, I was in another vehicle accident and during april had open heart surgery. After the surgery, I was sent back to the hospital after being released from the surgery for water detoxification which put me on life support for four days. After this epizode, I was starting to feel a lot better but I was still on 20 mg of methadone. During this period of time, I have had no sexual desire for my wife. No cuddling, little kissing, and no sexual intercouse.
Avatar n tn I don't have the other thyroid numbers handy but yes a complete panel was done several times over the years and the results always fall within normal range. As far as the heart is concerned I've had every test under the sun done many times and was diagnosed with benign PVC's/PAC's. Also, have had all hormone tests done by experienced urologist who specializes in hormone therapy.
Avatar n tn I would suggest that you have your total testosterone and thyroid function checked. If your TOTAL testosterone is low, then a prolactin level, sex hormone binding globulin level and repeat total testosterone level would be indicated. Free testosterone levels are quite unreliable, so I would not obtain that. There are testosterone supplements (not pills) that can be prescribed if your levels are low. S.A.Liroff, M.D.
Avatar n tn He is very aggressive and abusive mentally and physically. I have tried to have heart to heart conversations with him but he does not see that he has changed he says I have changed. He grabs me and tries to force himself on me constantly even if I am sick and goes in to a rage if I don't do this as he demands. I had a major health problem and almost died. As soon as I got home from the hospital he was trying to force himself on me and it felt like rape.
Avatar f tn I've exercised for 20 years, in the last 6 mos I did a sprint triathlon and have worked out 6 days a week consistently. When jogging slow, my heart rate jumps to 180-195 and I have to keep stopping to catch my breath no matter how slow I jog. Over the first few months I thought it was conditioning, then after a treadmill test my dr. told me my heart looked like someone who never works out, but was normal. I was breathless after 10 min. Endo said I have a TSH of 3.19 T4 of 1.
Avatar m tn You should try to rule out as many of the above causes for low testosterone as possible and I would, definitely recommend that you try to get the Vitamin D checked as that test is readily available. The tests for zinc, selenium and magnesium aren't quite so common and that may be more difficult. All of that said, when I go back to your list of symptoms, I still lean toward hypothyroidism as a cause for your major symptoms, except for the low testosterone.
Avatar n tn I am 33yrs of age and I have a 15yr old child. I am trying to have another child but its very hard. I have been dealing with irregular periods every since I had her all my test are ok Dr says but whats goin on can I still get pregnant without the periods its been at least 5 months this time around. I had surgrey in October to help me out but still no period so what could be going on with me can any one help me out......
Avatar n tn I have read the advantages and disadvantages of neutering and the disadvantages at his age seem to far outweight the advantages. I'm seeing increased risk of things like hypothyroidism, urethral incontinence, and some places even say prostate cancer by being neutered. I'm wondering if I'm trading one problem for a worse one. I found this product on the net called Prospet that supposedly can help to shrink the prostate. I was going to try that route instead of the neutering.
Avatar n tn This could also be a matter of several contributing factors, too much T, repressed anger, feelings of inadequacy/insecurity. The black and white switch is worrisome in terms of a personality disorder that may not have been apparent before he felt "good enough" on testosterone I.e. more masculine energy, improved mood and sense of self, however;what you've described also points at a narcissistic or schizoid adaptation of a borderline personality.
Avatar m tn ” To further assess this potential link between testosterone therapy and heart attack, stroke and all-cause mortality, the researchers looked at more than 8700 men who underwent a coronary angiography (a test that checks for blocked arteries). They wanted to determine whether having underlying coronary artery disease might modify the outcome in men taking testosterone. High intensity interval training will help boost your testosterone- and HGH levels. Focus on your lower body.
