Avatar m tn I have been battling with low testosterone for a few years and trying to address it through natural means. Lost 20 lbs body fat (Now 5'08" 156 lbs 13 % BF), added heavy weight lifting in 3x weekly, eat a low carb high vegetable intake diet with more than adequate fat content, etc. Sadly doesnt seem to be helping.
Avatar m tn You didn't say if you're overweight! Belly fat, and testosterone don't go together. Body fat contains aromatase, an enzyme that converts testosterone into estrogens, the female sex hormone in women. Having extra estrogens triggers your body to slow its production of testosterone. And the less testosterone you make, the more belly fat you accumulate and the more estrogens you have.
950277 tn?1247274551 Are you interpreting that correctly? I had a T test, and i am a weight lfter with 12% body fat and late 50's male. I bench press 275 for reps. My T level was 580, and the range quoted was 0 to 900 or 1000 with 400 to 600 the mid range, I was informed by a Dr I am above average with my age. If you are lower than 100 or 200, I think you should get some advice about options. A general rule is the higher the fat in a man the lower the T level. You husky types are in trouble.
Avatar m tn But long term use of testosterone and other steroids have transient effects and there is no scientific evidence that performance is enhanced. There is abuse liability so I would suggest you to follow up with a physician or endocrinologist for case to case prescriptions. Take care!
Avatar m tn ve also read that taking testosterone has many great benefits (Testosterone supplementation trims visceral fat, builds skeletal muscle, improves muscle strength, and promotes overall sexual function). Are there any negative side-effects? Thank you for your help!
Avatar f tn Women do not have enough testosterone to become big and bulky. Weight training well help to tone your arms up. If you google arm workouts for women there are tons of resources.
Avatar m tn There are quite a few other things that do, though and can also mimic symptoms of hypothyroidism... Both testosterone and thyroid hormones are endocrine hormones, which must all work together in order for one to be healthy. Being overweight is one cause of lowering testosterone and as you know is also a symptom of hypothyroidism. Weight gain is also a symptom of insulin resistance/metabolic syndrome. Stress (high cortisol levels) decreases testosterone production...
Avatar m tn Hi, I have low testosterone level (400 ng/dl) and I have been struggling to gain muscle. Recently I was down with viral fever and lost almost 10 kgs of "muscle". I literally lost most of the weight from the upper body. Now I am trying to gain weight. Someone adviced me to takeup meal supplement like mass gainer which will provide high carb and protein to bulk up in couple of months and after that I can stop using it. I go to gym everyday.
Avatar f tn re taking illegal supplements and testosterone boosters. As you build muscle in your legs, the skin will tighten up giving you a much leaner tone look. If you don't want to join a gym, lots of bodyweight Squats and lunges, try high intensity intervals. Try jump Squats and jump lunges. If you're capable, try holding on tothe wall and do iisolated single leg Squats.

8309591 tn?1397596954 humm that is right that there would not be a big difference in other lab results but that is a fact that it could change. And the medication about testosterone level i do not really recommend too as your DR. said that it is ok!
1970378 tn?1326124598 My weight yoyos and I think it is my medication but my doctor does nothing when I tell him. I am also thinking my testosterone levels are low. I work out 3-4 week and try to eat healthy but I cant lose. I think sometimes it is muscle instead of fat, but the results in the mirror do not seem to change. This discussion is related to Ive never been this way before - What should I do?.

Avatar m tn Breast enlargement in adult men is usually due to imbalance of sex hormones and more of estrogen and less of testosterone. At times it is a false or pseudo breast enlargement and happens due to excess deposition of fat. In such cases surgery is the treatment to remove excess fat. Please consult an endocrine specialist or your PCP to get this evaluated. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn What I have noticed is that I have collected fat in the pubic area. Where it used to be tight and thin, I now have some sagging skin and some fact in the same area. I'm 46 and are thinking that this is also due to aging. However you state that your only 27. As a result of the fat pad the apearance of my flacid penis seems to have gotten smaller. Ambiant temperature also plays a big role, when it is cold the penis shirvels up and looks very small.
Avatar m tn But I read muscle helps increase testosterone and burns fat so I am trying that. I am overweight and have been unhealthy until about three months ago so that may be the root of my problem. We also have good health insurance now. Thanks for asking what about you what is your status?

Avatar m tn t add any muscle or loose any fat unless they have some sort of medical condition. I know its dangerous and stupid to try and self diagnose, but I'm desperately looking for answers. I've tried so many different tactics over the past 2 years, HIIT cardio, low intensity cardio, fasted cardio, different marcos, 4 day splits, 3 day splits, heavy weights, low weights, body weight only. No matter what I try, I still couldn't loose the last bits of fat or add any significant muscle.
492936 tn?1244651570 Hi Heather, I have heard of it.. read about it in Newsweek. I don't know the whole diet, but I did read that whole milk makes big fat juicy eggs, so for the past 2 months I have been drinking a glass of whole milk every day. I forgot how delish really cold whole milk is. I'm lucky b/c we have a small organic dairy nearby and I go and pickup a half gallon of it served in the old fashioned glass bottles.
1240683 tn?1268232755 The only thing that has shown up is an ulcer in the ileum, low vitamin d, and low testosterone. The testosterone was rechecked after a week of vitamin supplements (particularly vitamin d - 1400mg day), and it came back normal. I've read that low T can be related to low vitamin d. Is this correct? Anyway, my primary question is this, could there be pancreatic insufficiency problems causing malabsorption of nutrients such as vitamin d that is causing the fatigue?
Avatar m tn The average penis is between 4 and 6 inches. If it were me, I would optimize my testosterone by working out with weights. I don't mean work out until you can't walk normally, but just add some nice muscle tone everywhere - arms, shoulders, back, abs, thighs, calves. That's how you naturally up your testosterone. Maybe that will cause extra size for you, and it certainly won't hurt you if you do it carefully with proper lifting technique.
Avatar m tn It is obvious theat that the Medical community has no interest in Males and keeping their testoterone at a constant level. I am 61 and my testosterone is 1200 and my free testosterone is 3.3. I feel as good as I did in my 20's. Doctors will give women hormones everyday but thanks to the low life athelites male hormones have been labeled taboo. This has thrown the Medical Profession into the dark ages. I take herbs that have raised my testosterone from 390 to 1200 and I feel great.
Avatar m tn A good article on testosterone is Dietary Fat and Testosterone: Everything You Need to Know About Fats and Testosterone Production. I posted the entire article. :) "Dietary Fats and Testosterone Production There are two crucial factors to look for when focusing on dietary fat intake to optimize T. 1. The actual amount of dietary fat you eat is important. This should be pretty high, but there’s an upper limit from where things start going to the opposite direction. 2.
Avatar n tn You can talk to your doctor about other hormones such as progesterone increasing through supplementation. You can try to lower testosterone through your diet as well. Low fat diets are supposed to aid in this. But anti androgens are best source of meds to lower your testosterone. Here's a list of these meds to talk about with your doctor: https://www.drugs.com/drug-class/antiandrogens.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your comment! I agree with you, exercise is also important.
Avatar m tn The Urine results showed my Testosterone levels were very low for someone my age. And one doctor recommended going on Testosterone Replacement Thereapy. Im not sure how reliable Urine testing is for hormone levels, since opinions on it differ and dont want to start hormonal therapy if i dont need it, since my blood levels were fine. Can someone help elaborate on this? One other thing i did notice when my face deflated was my oily skin became dry. Not dry, like flaking, but just dry.
Avatar m tn t get rid of it. My DHEA is fine and so is my testosterone. One year off work and I keep accumulating fat on my chest. I'm a man in my early 40's. I believe this is caused because the stress resulted in raised cortisol which robs my body of progesterone. Progesterone acts as an opponent to Estrogen.. And that's the key point here. Can anyone explain this to me..... How do you become estrogen dominant if your progesterone levels are normal?
