Avatar m tn Hi, I have low testosterone level (400 ng/dl) and I have been struggling to gain muscle. Recently I was down with viral fever and lost almost 10 kgs of "muscle". I literally lost most of the weight from the upper body. Now I am trying to gain weight. Someone adviced me to takeup meal supplement like mass gainer which will provide high carb and protein to bulk up in couple of months and after that I can stop using it. I go to gym everyday.
Avatar m tn You didn't say if you're overweight! Belly fat, and testosterone don't go together. Body fat contains aromatase, an enzyme that converts testosterone into estrogens, the female sex hormone in women. Having extra estrogens triggers your body to slow its production of testosterone. And the less testosterone you make, the more belly fat you accumulate and the more estrogens you have.
950277 tn?1247274551 Are you interpreting that correctly? I had a T test, and i am a weight lfter with 12% body fat and late 50's male. I bench press 275 for reps. My T level was 580, and the range quoted was 0 to 900 or 1000 with 400 to 600 the mid range, I was informed by a Dr I am above average with my age. If you are lower than 100 or 200, I think you should get some advice about options. A general rule is the higher the fat in a man the lower the T level. You husky types are in trouble.
Avatar m tn I understand Tamoxifen is completely different from testosterone, I mentioned it because many people take Tamoxifen during a steroid cycle to stop the body from shutting down it's natural production of testosterone and stop testicular shrinkage. My question was whether a pro hormone that doesn't aromatize to estrogen would shut down the bodies natural production of testosterone. Because that would essentially limit the need for an aromatase inhibitor.
Avatar m tn I have been battling with low testosterone for a few years and trying to address it through natural means. Lost 20 lbs body fat (Now 5'08" 156 lbs 13 % BF), added heavy weight lifting in 3x weekly, eat a low carb high vegetable intake diet with more than adequate fat content, etc. Sadly doesnt seem to be helping.
Avatar m tn ve also read that taking testosterone has many great benefits (Testosterone supplementation trims visceral fat, builds skeletal muscle, improves muscle strength, and promotes overall sexual function). Are there any negative side-effects? Thank you for your help!
Avatar f tn Women do not have enough testosterone to become big and bulky. Weight training well help to tone your arms up. If you google arm workouts for women there are tons of resources.
Avatar f tn I have a pear shaped body and no matter what I do I can't lose thight weight..please help?!
1970378 tn?1326124598 My weight yoyos and I think it is my medication but my doctor does nothing when I tell him. I am also thinking my testosterone levels are low. I work out 3-4 week and try to eat healthy but I cant lose. I think sometimes it is muscle instead of fat, but the results in the mirror do not seem to change. This discussion is related to Ive never been this way before - What should I do?.
Avatar n tn s body to be kept active always.Excess fat intake and lack of control on the quality and quantity of food further complicates the issue.
Avatar m tn The average penis is between 4 and 6 inches. If it were me, I would optimize my testosterone by working out with weights. I don't mean work out until you can't walk normally, but just add some nice muscle tone everywhere - arms, shoulders, back, abs, thighs, calves. That's how you naturally up your testosterone. Maybe that will cause extra size for you, and it certainly won't hurt you if you do it carefully with proper lifting technique.
Avatar f tn This is the fastest way to lose fat and build muscle in the body. Peak 8 actually stimulates the growth hormone in the body. I encourage you to visit Dr Mercola’s site to learn more about Peak 8 fitness because I personally feel that it is one of the best ways to exercise, especially considering the speed at which you can lose fat and build muscle. I highly recommend you read this article and watch the videos on the page.
8309591 tn?1397596954 humm that is right that there would not be a big difference in other lab results but that is a fact that it could change. And the medication about testosterone level i do not really recommend too as your DR. said that it is ok!
Avatar n tn As a result I have not been able to be as physically active as I used to be. Due to not getting enough exercise I have put on some body fat, nothing that would make obeise. What I have noticed is that I have collected fat in the pubic area. Where it used to be tight and thin, I now have some sagging skin and some fact in the same area. I'm 46 and are thinking that this is also due to aging. However you state that your only 27.
Avatar n tn Okay, that's not going to help me. I really don't care about side effects. I'm not going to be able to have children so I don't care about my body. I'm kinda afraid to have my testicles and penis removed though, so I'm trying to figure out some medicine I can take.
Avatar m tn There are quite a few other things that do, though and can also mimic symptoms of hypothyroidism... Both testosterone and thyroid hormones are endocrine hormones, which must all work together in order for one to be healthy. Being overweight is one cause of lowering testosterone and as you know is also a symptom of hypothyroidism. Weight gain is also a symptom of insulin resistance/metabolic syndrome. Stress (high cortisol levels) decreases testosterone production...
Avatar m tn t get rid of it. My DHEA is fine and so is my testosterone. One year off work and I keep accumulating fat on my chest. I'm a man in my early 40's. I believe this is caused because the stress resulted in raised cortisol which robs my body of progesterone. Progesterone acts as an opponent to Estrogen.. And that's the key point here. Can anyone explain this to me..... How do you become estrogen dominant if your progesterone levels are normal?
Avatar m tn I am 27 years old male, 5' 10'', physically fit, not much body fat. I used to masturbate because of which many times I have felt fatigue. I feel I also have developed premature ejacuation. I have noticed that my sperm quantity is reduced. Recently I consulted a sexologist and had my hormones tested. There were the results: Thyroid profile - I T3 - Total (tri iodothyroine) (ECLIA) 94.96 ng/dL T4 - Total (Thyroxine- Total) (ECLIA) 7.
Avatar m tn did they actually do a T3 & T4 and TPO antibody test or just TSH? if you're not sure, ask for a copy of your test results...even after requesting my primary do these she didn't and I've been dx with hypo since 1998 but some dr's are like that.
Avatar m tn t add any muscle or loose any fat unless they have some sort of medical condition. I know its dangerous and stupid to try and self diagnose, but I'm desperately looking for answers. I've tried so many different tactics over the past 2 years, HIIT cardio, low intensity cardio, fasted cardio, different marcos, 4 day splits, 3 day splits, heavy weights, low weights, body weight only. No matter what I try, I still couldn't loose the last bits of fat or add any significant muscle.
Avatar m tn I have been taking whey and casein protein as well as creatine (assault) (and a multi and fish oil). I am thinking about adding DAA (anotest), tribulus, and CLA to my supplements. Do I need to worry about any side effects such as gyno or hair loss with any increasing testosterone? Should I take any kind of estrogen inhibitor? Thanks.
Avatar f tn She also refused to listen to me when I told her all my issues happened when I was working out, losing body fat and gaining muscle overall dropping 25-30 pounds. Fast forward a couple weeks and labs are good except for the following.
Avatar f tn But please remember that a lot of them will give out different answes and won't be exact.
Avatar m tn Hey, I'm currently at a healthy 13.5% body fat but I'm an athlete so I'm really trying to drop that down to under 10%. I've been doing High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) in between weight lifting days and eating primarily proteins, healthy fats, and a small amount of carbs for breakfast and after excersise. I'm trying to lose as much fat as possible in the next two weeks.
Avatar f tn According to online BMI calculators which only use your height and weight to deduce body fat, it calculates your numbers at 18.4% which is technically under weight. 18.5-24.9 is optimal weight without any other factors to take into consideration. A scale shouldn't really do any more than that, except it may use some kind of inductive measurement through your skin, but even that is nothing as compared to calipers.
Avatar m tn It starts out gradually at first and as we become increasingly sedentary, the testes produce less and less testosterone. Consequently, muscles become smaller and weaker, we become less energetic and more lethargic. In short, we become less masculine and less virile.) 4 Alcoholic Beverages & Sodas, 5 Added hormones, (There is a huge debate raging in the United States right now. It involves food additives that are unsafe to men and women alike.
