i really dont understand why use of truvada which is simply tenofovir plus ftc in one pill, tenofovir is the most potent drug against hbv replication and has no resistance so truvada has meaning as a business way to make money from patients with only side effects added to patients, truvada is more toxic on kidneys than tenofovir monotherapy

I got infected at birth with HepB and have not taken any antiviral medications. My recent doctor recommended me starting Tenofovir medication, but I have not done an ultrasound or liver biopsy prior to his recommendation. I would like to hear advice from this community whether I should start tenofovir or not.
Should I request my doctor for more testing first(ultrasound, hbsag quantitative, liver biopsy) before starting tenofovir?
Can I know what is duration of Tenvir approximately he need to continue to become normal and his Tenvir medication/or any other medication will stop.
Any advice on whether to push to try stopping medication or switch to Tenofovir in my current situation will be much appreciated!

One of my friend is suffering from Hepatitis B and also having early stage of Liver cirrhosis. She is also going through TB medication from last seven months. Due to TB medication her upper part body become yellowish. Here doctor advice her to immediately stop the above medicine. She is under Hep B medication but doctor says there is no cure for the cirrhosis..Is it true??? is there any herbal treatment and pls. advice about the diets she should take and also about the restrictions.
The following is a paper from doctors in Francel. It said you can breastfeed whilst your are on Tenofovir because "Tenofovir is not absorbed in the breast milk". However, I have googled and cannot find any reference to this claim. All the best to you and your baby.

Tenofovir is known to have a harmful effect on the kidney tubules and boosting agents may raise levels of tenofovir in the kidneys, exacerbating the harmful effects of the drug.
Unfortunately, I did not know early and because I have been infected from birth, series of tests confirmed that my viral load was very high and there was mild to moderate cirrhosis. Dr placed me on Tenofovir 300mg immediately and within 3 months, I made significant progress. There was a break in my medication because I traveled and by the time I returned, viral load had gone back to millions.
tenofovir is the oldest drug among hbv drug since we share the same drugs as hiv, it is the most potent and generics are on the market.
Should I wait for my biopsy results and my appointment so I can ask my physician to consider changing my medication? Or should I try to get an earlier appointment? I did some research on Tenofovir which confirms your post on being the correct medication for the treatment of Hepatitis B. Thanks again!
The number jump from 1 mg to 300 mg is a bit scary and he would like advice or feedback on this new medication before starting. Has anyone used this before? Anything we should be aware of?
That is actually not much better than tenofovir vs tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, the actual substance in Viread. It is 50 times more potent than tenofovir.
It is all this improper simplification of callling viread tenofovir.
Tenovovir, if it would be given orally, would have no effect on HBV.
TEnofovir if given intravenously or sc would still have almost no effect on HBV in the liver. the substance has a high negative charge and cannot easlily penetrate cell membranes.

I am worry to dead because i know tenofovir has some negative effect on baby : kidney' function and bone loss.
When I take this pill, I alway nauses after eating, usual muscle pain and a bit tideness. These symptoms is not severe but it appears.

In actual ,, per doctor recommendation I should not be starting the medication for now. But I want to start the medication. I am HbeAg negative. But I want to start the Medication . On my insisting , Dr told me to start with Baraclude 0.5mg (Entecavir) . Should I start this or should go for Tenofovir ????
What is the major difference between the two ???

stop lamivudine immediately or switch to tenofovir, it is decades now lamivudine is not used because it can lead to cytopatic hbv mutations that cannot be control with any medication leading to cancer and cirrhosis despite hbsag negative, hbvdna undetectable and normal ast-alt, another reason not to use lamivudine is that it is even totally useless on hbv
