Avatar f tn It now appears to be dying/dead as he has no feeling when ice is placed on it. The dentist wants to do a root canal. Will my son be able to play the trumpet after he has a root canal? If not, what solutions are there to playing a trumpet when there is trauma to the front tooth? Is his trumpet playing over?
Avatar m tn Dr. Tsang I do have a question that I have been wondering about for sometime though, my wisdom teeth have been coming in for a while and I have hesitated to get them out because I am a musician who uses my mouth and I am going to have to take of a month from playing and I just have not had the realisitic possibility to do this in the past 3 years but my bottom wisdom teeth have bothered me because I tend to bite my cheek with them and it just hurts.
Avatar m tn I've got a discomfort in my neck, somewhere between my thyroid cartilage and hyroid bone, about 1 inch off of center. I'm a trumpet player and may have torn/streched something down there while playing a long strenuous passage of music about 10 months ago (Finale of Stravinsky's Firebird ballet)str. The discomfort is always present and is often greatest while playing the trumpet. The sensation is a dull tightness, as though there is a lump in the area or someone is pressing on it.
Avatar m tn i am a professional trumpet player. i just received a perforated eardrum courtesy of a nerf ball strike in the ear at a kiddie amusement park. go figure. one in a billion, right? how dangerous is playing trumpet while healing? i don't have any pain while playing, but there is a wierd buzzing that accompanies any noise. do i put myself at great risk? tough decision for me. i need to play the bills.
Avatar f tn A bunch of my back teeth are broke off to the gum and my front teeth look so awful. My babies has took all the calcium out of them.
Avatar n tn Six months ago I went for a check up with my local dentist. On this day I was told my teeth were perfectly healthy however he took an x-ray to make sure. When this x-ray was taken I was then told that I needed 8 fillings. He said they were all surface fillings on the enamel that were not visable to the naked eye. I was shocked as I have had weak gums from a young age so have always brushed, flossed and used mouthwash and have never experienced the slightest discomfort with regards to my teeth.
Avatar n tn I can see that, for instance, playing the trumpet would be risky because of the pressure in the head. However with singing the main pressure is in the abdomen. Is this a correct way to look at it?
Avatar n tn Hi , a few years ago i played a trumpet for about 2-3 years. Since then my skin around the lips has gone really dry. The rest of my skin is fine. Every time i wash my face it shows up really bad and red. In less then 5 minutes the skin drys out and starts to crack but doesn't turn red. So i use vaseline and it helps a bit but i still have to constanly use it or it would sometimes randomly come up red and lumpy.
Avatar n tn My pain lasts all the time and I wear my orthotic (it's basically a night guard worn all the time) every second of every day. However, my pain still continues. Every time my mouth opens I get either a single pop or a double pop. Pain flares up in my entire jaw, though I only have the TMJ disfunction in my left joint. The pain also flares down badly into my neck and my shoulders. I have gone through physical therapy and am still going through massage therapy.
Avatar n tn If you were my patient, I would advise you that you are your dentist are probably correct that the pregnancy is making you more sensitive and is causing you to metabolize medications differently. Unless you will risk losing your teeth, or infection (which would be worse than fillings) there is probably not a rush to finish your dental work. That might give your pocket book a chance to catch up too! In the meantime, take good care of those teeth and gums.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had teeth problems or work done while preggos? My first born i had two cavaties, which i got fixed after she born. For this one, all 4 of my wisdom teeth are coming out and hurt. The dentist wants to remove them. Advise? Experience??
Avatar n tn How many with long term HCV have you met without teeth and dental problems? I know very few. How about dry skin, dry eye? Overall I bet the HCV numbers are WAY above norm for the general population.
Avatar n tn The dentist left huge gaps in my teeth (making the teeth longer), because he claimed he had to remove much of the gum due to decay. My inner cheeks and my tongue are constantly filled with sores, because of the huge gaps left in my teeth after this operation. The dentist claims there is nothing he can do about it and that "at least my gum disease is gone and if I didn't brush my teeth for three months, the gaps would fill up.
2080404 tn?1643113754 Ugh I can't seem to win. My tooth finally healed, gods it was so sore. Now another tooth feels infected. The gum is all inflamed and the tooth is cracked. Hurts like hell but I've been taking OTC pain medicine and keeping an eye on it. No swelling, thankfully. Just pain. Now my other tooth is hurting cuz I had to chew on that side earlier in the day. How am I supposed to eat anything if I have a tooth on either side acting up??
Avatar f tn I received my first set of false teeth about 1 year ago, but that set did not fit right so they had to remake them. one of the major problems with the new set is the teeth are a lot larger than the first set and a lot larger than my teeth that were removed. They teeth are so much bigger than my own teeth were so my smile has completely change and doesn't look like me. But there are 2 major problems I am having to deal with every time I try to wear them.
Avatar n tn I have had teeth problems since diagnosis of Graves so think it is thyroid related and not medication related. There are may here who have teeth problems now.
Avatar n tn My understanding is the back upper and lower teeth are 3's. There were some 4's before I started treatment. I am 42, great health, nonsmoker, athletic, have always taken care of teeth-so I am not sure why this happened to my teeth. Also, where can I get the rubber-tipped tooth brush described? Does one ever really get a grip on or get rid of perio?
Avatar n tn I wear dentures which are around 3 years old and have a white line where the pain is where I used to grit my teeth. My dentist cant find anything wrong. Can anyone please help.
Avatar m tn Im getting terrible withdraw symptoms which affects my day to day dealings. I play jazz trumpet and I teach trumpet lessons on a day to day basis. The only break I get is on Sat and Sun. My plan of attack was to go cold turkey and hopefully the (2) day break I get would be suffice in terms of using those days to detox....umm yeah right!!! I really need help! I need to get off of the suboxone so that I can completely get my life back.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had any teeth problems while be pregnant? Today while eating part of my tooth came out. I've never had problems ever!! I've had sicknesses for the past 8 wks wondering if that has anything to do with it.
Avatar n tn Yes. Treatment is hard on my teeth. I believe the treatment changes the chemistry of my saliva. Plus, the constant dehydration during treatment makes the surface of my teeth less smooth and that causes more bacteria to stick to my teeth. I'm not sure whether or not the oral effects of treatment will be permanent.
1327032 tn?1288840755 I lost most of my teeth.. Directly blamed on tx, as it dries the mouth, and if you dont see dentist often, this is consequence. I advise close dental monitoring.. I also have cancer, so some of the tooth lost is also blamed on cancer drugs.. Talk to your dentist..
Avatar m tn Hi I was wondering if anyone else had GERD and experienced significant and fast changes in their teeth and gums. I am not sure if my gums are receeding or teeth eroding or both! whatever is happening is definitely due to GERD and most likely whilst I'm asleep as my bottom teeth seem to be more affected. Really not sure what to do about this. Anyone had any success with treatment either via Gastro doc, or even Dentist or Orthadontist?
Avatar m tn My clenching of teeth is literally rearranging my teeth and bite. My dentist told me that I am doing my own orthodontics. My teeth used to be nice and tight against each other, but now I find gaps forming, some pretty significant. I started to use a mouth guard for the grinding and have not noticed my teeth getting worse. I just miss the way they were. At any rate, the mouth guard is worn during the night and it is comfortable and a personal fit. Easy to do.
