Avatar f tn Any head injury may cause teeth grinding. I had a TBI and I am not sure I am grinding my teeth in sleep (bcuz I wake up with dizziness, headache, fatigue everyday/all day) but planning to go to a TMJ specialist at some point.
Avatar f tn I grind my teeth all the time. . Pregnant or not. It *****. The dentist suggested a get a mouth guard but I catch myself grinding my teeth during the day too. Some days I would wake up with the worst jaw and tooth pain. It's been pretty good lately though. If you just grind them at night then you should invest in the mouth guard.. It would probably help you.
Avatar n tn was this splint made from impressions by a lab and customized to your bite? there are dentists that say they know but you need a dr that specializes in grinding and tmj problems. there is more than just throwing a splint in the mouth. the amount of pressure in night time grinding is what wears our joints and cracks our teeth. i cant tell you what to do but you need to discuss this with a dentist and if he suggests only wearing it during the day GET A SECOND OPINION!!
2094952 tn?1334015457 My 4 month old Maltese is grinding his teeth or something. It is almost like he has a plastic pop cap in his mouth and he is biting down on it.
Avatar n tn About a year ago I started clenching my jaw and grinding my teeth in my sleep. I realized I was doing this after waking up a few mornings with horrible headaches and pain in my jaw. My dentist fitted me for a mouth guard (which I wear every night) and then things seemed a little better. Well for the past 2 months I feel like I am doing it more than ever. I wear the mouth guard every night but I am waking up with jaw pain. Is there anything else I can do or take to alleviate this?
187316 tn?1386356682 Aspen keeps grinding her teeth and it is driving me insane. I keep giving her things to put into her mouth so that she wont grind them because I think that it could be causing damage and dont want it to become a permanent habit. 10069532 tn?1407594111 Hey ladies. Here recently, I guess I have been grinding my teeth pretty bad in my sleep. I know that after I have my baby, I will have to get at least one tooth pulled from breaking. What have you ladies done to stop the grinding? I keep waking up because my mouth hurts so bad from the grinding. :( I'm 31 weeks, and don't know how I'm going to deal with 9 more weeks of this pain.
Avatar n tn I have been grinding my teeth at night when I sleep and it is causing jaw and tooth pain. I recently went to the dentist where we discussed a custom made mouth piece that I would wear at night. The only problem is that it cost about $800.00!!! There is anohter mouth piece that they can make that is a "lesser model" that is about $300.00.
Avatar n tn my 5 year old son grinds his teeth in his sleep really hard, so you can hear the sound, why?
1255530 tn?1269867619 I grind my teeth almost constantly when I'm in a higher mood. I think it might be just a way to get some of that pent up energy out without jumping up on a table and dancing. That might be just me though. My mom does it too, and she also has bipolar. She got to the point where she needed to wear something to protect her teeth.
427382 tn?1298209586 Is there any other babies out there grinding their teeth? Mady finally has her top teeth sprouting out and now she grinds them. I am debating calling the dc. but wanted to see if anyone else has the same problem.

601114 tn?1220533411 teeth grinding is something that can be fairly common for children and adults. Often, people grind their teeth when they are stressed out about something or anxious. It can be difficult to address this issue with a 4 year old though. Are you aware of anything that may be causing some anxiety? A new routine like beginning pre-school, a move to a new location, house, etc? If it really becomes a problem, you can take him to the dentist and they can fit him for a mouth guard...
Avatar n tn It could be caused by several facors, not withstanding are stress, suppressed anger, frustration and/or medications. Chronic teeth grinding can result in a fracturing, loosening, or loss of teeth. The chronic grinding may wear their teeth down to stumps. You can wear a mouth guard that's available in most sports stores but if it continues, you should see your doctor. Good luck!
Avatar f tn My mother is in the 7th stage of her Alzheimer's and started grinding her teeth on a regular basis but won't allow anything to be put in her mouth like a mouth guard and if we were to try gum she would probably swallow it as she seems to swallow everything that she puts in her mouth these days and we have tried to entertain her at the extended care facility - but her attention span is very short these days. Any other suggestions????
1445161 tn?1312085507 So, I don't know if this is the right place but here goes.. I'm 22 yr old female. Iv'e been grinding my teeth very hard since I was a kid only in my sleep. It gives me so much pain when I wake and also I notice that it weakens my teeth. I read that the only treatment is Botox. I also think that all these years of grinding has made my jaw muscles larger and it just looks big and unappealing to me. Am I right? Can you please tell me more about this?
Avatar n tn sounds like your problem may be due to grinding. let me tell you from a hardcore grinder, it can make your teeth sens. hurt and shift. talk to your dentist about this and if it is the problem a splint, or nightgaurd can help. bad thing is it is usually covered by medical ins, and hmo's dont cover it . but if you can get one it will save your teeth!
Avatar n tn i am 56 yr old male with dentures. for several months i go through periods where i wake with blood in my mouth. i take my lower plate out at night to as not to "grit my teeth". not sure just where it comes from, i believe the roof of my mouth. should i be concerned?
977806 tn?1249067346 One (or both, who knows) of the TX drugs causes bruxism, grinding your teeth in your sleep. Think it's the riba. The grinding can make your jaw hurt in the morning. I ground through a gold crown on TX. See if your dentist can make you a biteguard (also called night guard) so you don't ruin your molars while saving your liver.
Avatar n tn Also, if i eat sweets one of the teeth begins to ache terribly. I also have a sensitivity to cold in at least two of the teeth, and if I drink hot liquids, some of them begin to throb. I went to the dentist a month ago and he said the fillings are solid, and attributed my continued sensitivity to the fact that I'm a grinder. He said the aching from sweet foods might mean that the sweetness is getting between my teeth, into contact with the inflamed nerve (from all the grinding).
Avatar f tn The TMJ joint is the joint that hinges the Maxilla to the Mandible, and can suffer the same orthopedic problems as any other joint in the body, such as strains, sprains, dislocations, and arthritis. Teeth grinding could indicate a problem anywhere in the digestive system, not just the mouth. If he has mouth pain, or arthritis in the TMJ joint your vet could try giving an analgesic called Metacam, or a short course of steroids called Prednisolone.

Avatar f tn She could have a cracked tooth, or she could be grinding her teeth when she sleeps. Another option is that her teeth are lining up wrong or that there is a tooth growing in where it shouldn't be. She should see a dentist, and possibly an orthodontist.
