Common Questions and Answers about Teeth extraction jaw structure

Avatar m tn And now before I came across this I did some research about it and I have found alot of things of people having the same problems with the dislocating jaw. But my absolute main question is this due to the extraction of the wisdom teeth?? Like from opening my mouth a little too wide that they done damage??? As the surgeon said himself my teeth were the most difficult he had encountered removing.
1809287 tn?1316744936 about a week ago i had a tooth extraction done on my very back molar on my lower right side. the extraction went pretty well, although quite uncomfortable. afterwards, i felt somewhat okay, but about two to three days after i started to feel this uncomfortable pain in my lower jaw bone. the pain is felt in my jaw, my throat, my temple, my neck and my ear. i am having constant headaches.
Avatar n tn I had my lower left side wisdom tooth removed about a week and five days ago and I am slowly experiencing more and more pain in my upper jaw area. I am having diffculties opening my mouth because of the pain and soreness. What I need to know is this normal to have pain in the jaw area after a wisdom tooth extraction? And if so, how long should I expect to experience this pain?
Avatar n tn It was healing ok but 5 days ago while biting a sandwich my jaw made a loud popping sound and since then i am not able to open my mouth more than an inch. i also have alot of swelling. What coul this be?
481349 tn?1226710487 I recently had a wisdom tooth pulled from my top left side. The area has healed correctly and seemed fine. Now my whole left side of my face is in severe pain. Putting orajel on the teeth on that side doesn't help at all. The pain stops for a half an hour if I place orajel on the jaw joint inside my mouth. The pain is becoming unbearable and interrupting my sleep since I am up every half hour to put on more orajel and taking tylenol.
Avatar m tn I have been suffering with a pain in the left eye cheek and jaw for the last 25 years. I just been for a private consultation and told I have to live with the pain. 10 years ago I was diagnosed with Tempoporamandubluar joint disorder. I would be grateful if anyone has experienced a similar problem and would be grateful for any help from anyone who is experiencing similar problems...
Avatar f tn I have braces on my upper jaw and I just got my lower wisdom tooth extracted, its been 5 days, the swelling did go down but I can notice that my face has changed. Do extraction of wisdom tooth make the face fat ? Thnk you.
Avatar n tn still have severe pain in jaw and ear after surgical extraction of two jaw teeth. had a dry socket 2 weeks ago but still have severe pain and nausea.
Avatar n tn he ended taking out too much tissue with the tooth . I am so worried as to how my teeth structure is going to look like when it is all done ..He refused to refund me all my money for the second tooth because I didnt go back to him for the second tooth again..
Avatar m tn ve really let my oral hygiene go in recent years. I barely brush my teeth and have developed some yellowing and mild tartar buildup. When I do brush my teeth, my gums bleed a little, but are otherwise fine. For the past year or two, the right side of my neck has become a sort of lumpy/enlarged. It's not exactly swollen or anything, it just protrudes a little further than the left side (mostly noticeable when felt by hand) and has a few small lumps in it.
Avatar m tn The strange thing is that it has been 4 months since the last extraction and now the teeth next to the extraction sites are hurting just like the previously removed teeth but they too look normal and my gums look healthy. I still feel run down but I can take a simple antibiotic (such as a 5 day Z-Pak) and I feel VERY energetic again but it only lasts for about 2 weeks tops.
Avatar f tn I have 3 teeth in need of extraction and one in need of a root canal. It ***** to have to wait.
Avatar m tn Dear Patient Yes, if you do have TMJ dysfunction extraction of the wisdom teeth could exacerbate the problem. Let the oral surgeon know, sometimes they will use a prop which will allow you to bite on it and at the same time not have you stretch to far open. Secondly the x-ray you had done probably was a Panorex x-ray which I would not consider as a proper x-ray for diagnosing TMJ dysfunction. In order for a proper diagnosis of your TMJ condition I would recommend seeing a TMJ expert.
Avatar f tn Your headache is more than likely due to the extraction of your wisdom teeth. Your jaw was open extra wide, and the muscles leading from there to your head could be spasming or understandably sore.
Avatar n tn As you may guess, after more than five to seven years of this, my jaw and teeth are really screwed up and there is still pressure in my ears. My jaw joints hurt, i can pop both of them similar to cracking a finger knuckle, and it feels like there is fluid in both sides. In addition to this, my two lower middle front teeth have worn through the enamel and now have a chisel like sharp edge on top. Because the edges are thin, they have chipped and are now serrated like a steak knife.
Avatar m tn I was in pain in my whole jaw, inside my ear, bottom and top teeth were hurting/aching badly. I went to see the dentist and she prescribed low dose antibiotics for 5 days. The surgery did some interim treatment to relieve my pain and drilled the nerve out. Although tender around the area of the 'bad' tooth at the base of the gum the pain did subside. Two days later I had the tooth extracted. As soon as the anaesthetic had worn off I was in incredible pain, no pain killers touched it.
784382 tn?1376931040 It is also possible, that this is the jaw bone, or a piece of the jaw bone which has been hurted during extraction. It really needs to be checked, it is good that you are going to the dentist tomorrow i think. Me i also will, just like my aunt did it. I will go to Hungary to the empireclinic, she - my aunt - was very satsfied with the treatment and especially with the prices and the quality she got there.. I'll see it soon as well, if you want to, just check their site!
Avatar n tn 9 months ago in June I had a root canal on number 6, because I just had a new crown put on and tore open a bag of nuts with my teeth, the next morning the crown came off. Dentist sent me to endo, he did the root canal, about 2 months ago I bought a water pic and was using it on number six, because my gum was sore, not sure it the water pic loosen my crown or not but it is loose now.
Avatar m tn A week has gone by from all four impacted wisdom teeth were surgically removed. My jaw on the right side feels like it is locked. I can only open my jaw 1 inch. When I try to open it farther I get excruciating pain and it won't open. Left side is fine. I was very swollen the first three days after surgery. What should I do?
Avatar n tn The TMJ symptoms could be related to trauma from the surgery and is one of the risks involved with extraction of wisdom teeth. You should have your dentist or the oral surgeon thoroughly examine you jaw joints.
4922507 tn?1361076248 The tooth taken out was a baby tooth - I have congenitally missing 2nd premolars on my lower jaw. The extraction seems to go straightforward although i needed a double dose of local anaesthetic, as the first lot didnt seem to take even after about 20 mins waiting. all was well at first. However since the extraction I am suffering from insomnia and just recently I have felt a pain increase.
Avatar n tn Also, try a bruxism splint as you may be clenching your teeth causing the jaw tightness and sensitive teeth. If they are wisdom teeth, take them out. If not, a second opinion would be good for peace of mind. If the bruxism splint stops the pain by day 5, you need a nightguard or dentist made bruxism splint, and may not need the extraction.
Avatar f tn Hi, Actually, evolution has shortened the lower jaw, thereby making wisdom teeth (or the third molar) obsolete. Many people today are born without them at all. Those of us that have them, if they are crooked or impacted, it's recommended for removal. They can have a direct relationship to the alignment of your other teeth if they have no room to erupt. Not to mention the possibility of jaw bone problems with a tooth trying to erupt directly into it.
