Anyhow, I was taking .25 to .50mg of xanax a day to deal with the anxiety and I have decided to stop taking those as well.. I am not sure if they were a mental crutch or if they really did halp curb the anxiety... I do have a lot of stress in my life right now and the xanax helped to take the edge off of it and let me focus on the things I need to do however, I have an addictive personality and don't want to fall into being addicted now to xanax....
my question is this....
If you're stupid, then the rest of us might as well have no brains at all :) Right now you are taking a "safe" amount of Vicodin (in general; your specific needs/body may say that it's not safe). You've stopped feeling the energy it gives you because you're building a tolerance. That's the problem with taking Vicodin every day. You build a tolerance and need more to get the same effects.
I've been taking Xanax .5 mg 1 a day for 4 to 5 months now. I was getting them off the street for my anxiety. I also was snorting vicodin 7.5 mg for 6 to 7 months 1 to 3 a day. I've been off the vicodin for 3 days now. And this is my 1st day not taking the Xanax. I don't want to get a seizure bc of not taking the Xanax. But I want to quit these pills bc I feel they r controlling me. The withdrawals suck on the vicodin. But I hope I can beat this.

I recently got off Vicodin on January 2nd. It became addictive. I've been on Xanax for 10 years and I am tapering. I'm taking 1-1/2 mg. per day and I started taking Prozac at 10 mg. per day a week ago. I am experiencing racing thoughts, discomfort with my heart beating, clammy, smoky taste in my mouth after sleeping, horrible Anxiety buzz (Which begins with the racing thoughts), sore temple, tightness in head.
Just my experience....I stopped the vicodin cold turkey and was also on xanax 2 mlg twice daily for 15 years. With my doctors guidance I did a very slow taper and am off them as well. Definately speak with yor doctor....going off xanax especially after 20 years needs to be monitored by a doctor BUT it can be done. I feel so much better off the xanax!

m on the verge to a substance abuse problem because I am always altering my moods. I will take a vicodin and notice I need to take a zanax with it because I feel irritable (or anxious). I take another vicodin in about 6 hours with my zanax. The zanax is normal dosage, 2 x's daily 1mg, but I'm noticing that I've increased to probably 3 a day. I take the Wellbutrin & Ambien at night and sleep really well.
Why are you taking the vicodin? What kind of pain was it prescribed for? Vicodin can cause breathing problems if that is what you are referring to when you mean your "chest seems heavy". The back and neck could be your anxiety or your brain coming up with pain to get more pills.
If you are worried about addiction and you don't have a medical reason to take the pills I would stop taking them now before you become addicted or dependent on them.
That is not a mention so you would think you can continue taking vicodin and be ok, just letting you know, it never hurts to clean the liver with a natural herb (providing you consult with your doctor before using it). In my non professional opinion, until you can talk to your doctor ASAP, taper down on them both. I am only suggesting this because without doctor consultation, just stopping medications can be bad.

Hi all, I had been on Xanax 2mg,Vicodin 5/500mg and Tramadol 50mg for 2 yers(Xanax and Tramadol) and 1 year(Vicodin)taking 8 to 10mg Xanax and 2 to 4 pills of tramadol and Vicodin daily. I am slowly weaning off the Xanax, I'm on day 53 and down to 6.75mg and quit cold turkey the tramadol and the vicodin 16 days ago.
After years of me begging him to change my medication he finally switched me to Ultram. I have been taking that since Saturday with my last Vicodin being Friday evening. I also have an anxiety disorder so I take Xanax for that. I have been taking the one 50mg of Ultram in the morning and .5mg of Xanax at night. I have been told over and over again to not go cold turkey from the Vic. But I am sick and tired of it ruling my life. I hate the stuff and I always have.
I broke my ankle about a month ago and was perscribed to vicodin. Actually 10mg norcos. I have been taking 2 pills at night to ease the pain after being on my feet all day. I want to stop taking the pills and I am able to, however I am concerned about withdrawel. I'm sick of feeling tired and lazy and want to stop cold turkey, however I'm concered that after taking them for 30 days, I am going to go through withdrawel. Do you think I will have any problems if I stop today.
I had already got myself on the lowest dose possible with the xanax beforehand, but I quit the vicodin cold turkey first. This way worked for me because the xanax helped somewhat with the sleep issues i had from the very early vicodin w/ds. After I felt some relief, i think it was by day 7 of no vicodin, that is when i let go of the xanax. Last week was a mental nightmare for me and i have no idea if it was from the xanax, vicodin or both w/ds.
I took Klonopin for about 5 years, this was about 10 years ago, and then I got pregnant and stopped cold turkey, with no withdrawals or anything, I was taking .5 about 1-2 a day. After I had my baby I started on Xanax because I found Clonapin depressing, and same thing, I take 1-2 a day, or 1/2 a pill a day for about 3 or 4 years.

It has completely drained my account, given me acne, and I NEED to be done with this drug. I had a 4 year addiction to ambien (taking up to 10 a day) and have FINALLY kicked that addiciton but just replaced it with another one. It is ruining my life. I am on vacation from work for 5 days. I am going to kick this in the next week. I have about 5 pills with me (5mg oxycodone) and a few xanax. What is the best way to taper? Help please. And thank you all for your stories...
