Taking vicodin with ibuprofen

Common Questions and Answers about Taking vicodin with ibuprofen

vicodin

Avatar n tn s why they gave you Vicodin. I remember taking Vicodin every 6 hours after foot surgery. For me, it was 6 hours on the dot when the pain returned. I'd use ice and try to sleep. Keeping inflammation down is important. There are a lot of nerves in the face, so that's why it would hurt so much.
Avatar n tn At first I was taking 6-8 Vicodin/day for about a week. Then got down to 4-6/day for several days. Yesterday, very little pain & only took 1 Vicodin. Today, 1/2 Vicodin. I feel awful, anxious, weak, sometimes dizzy, low (for me) bloodpressure, just generally not good. I am bipolar and take 50 mg. Lamictol & 1 1/2 to 2 mg. Ativan. Wondering if I'm experiencing Vicodin withdrawal?
1148241 tn?1294052796 I recently quit taking Vicodin for my joint pain because I was concerned about liver damage. I have been taking Ibuprofen instead. I've been taking two in the morning and then two in the afternoon. It says don't take longer than 10 days though. I have to take something though. My knees and wrists and fingers hurt too much if I don't. I know you guys aren't Drs but experience counts for something if its what your Dr has told you. What do you guys take?
Avatar n tn i am to take 2 tramadol twice daily or as needed along with 800 mg ibuprofen twice daily. i have not found any resolve with this medication (i have been on it 2 weeks). i also have not had any typical withdrawl symptoms from stopping the vicodin. i have degeneration of my t3 and t4 vertebre and spinal rotation and of course subluxation. i have had 2 diagnosises and both times the prognosis was long term chronic pain. i have blood work done every 3 mths and it has always been normal.
Avatar f tn I was given 800mg ibuprofen every 6 hours, vicodin 5-325 every 4 hours. On day 3 I was in excruciating pain with huge hard lumps on the sides of my face that hurt so I went back to the dentist and he prescribed me x2 150mg of Clindamycin every 6 hours. I weigh around 150 lbs, 22 year old female, 5'3. I feel like I might have too much medicine in my system as I am feeling very weak and nauseous, almost like my blood pressure is low and I kind of have the jitters.
Avatar n tn UNLESS YOU ARE IN SEVERE PAIN YOU SHOULD JUST TAKE 800MG IBUPROFEN ALONG WITH A MUSCLE RELAXER.. IT WORKS GREAT FOR ME, ALMOST GOOD AS VICOPROFEN BUT NOT QUITE... YOU CAN EASILY BECOME ADDICTED TO VICOPROFEN JUST TAKING 1 DAILY SO BE CAREFUL AND GOOD LUCK!
Avatar f tn Have you tried just Tylenol?
Avatar f tn Then you can take some Tylenol instead together with the ibuprofen. They work well together for pain. Never take Tylenol while taking Vicodin though, because you may ovedose on acetominophen and damage your liver further. You should not have much withdrawal on the dose you are on, so don't worry about it. Go0d luck to you and feel well.
Avatar m tn About three months ago when this all started happening I was prescribed vicodin for pain and it helped greatly, I took it once to twice a day, alternating with ibpreufin. I was taking it for about a month with little to no side effects until one day I woke up and had this itchy, burning feeling on my arms (like a sunburn that itches). After getting up and moving around i noticed my arms had splotchy red patches that come and go. This will last anywhere from half a day to a couple days.

Avatar f tn Is is okay for me to take Advil for my muscle aches? I used to take Advil with the Vicodin to make high last longer. Does anyone has any opinions.
Avatar n tn Not really any difference. Vicoprofen has Ibuprofen with the Hydrocodone. Vicodin has Tylenol. Strength would be the same if they both were the same dose.
Avatar f tn I would recommend calling your dentist again and going in to see her as soon as possible. I would continue taking the vicodin every 4 hours (only 1 pill at a time if its regular vicodin 5/500 concentration) for the meantime.
Avatar f tn I have been clean from vicodin for 3 weeks now, but I hurt my back while moving into a new house. One of my relatives gave me a few flexarol but I have not taken them. Is it ok for me to take flexeral or is that an opiate like vicodin? I don't want to take something that is going to remind me of vicodin.
Avatar f tn But two weeks ago i went to the dentist and had my mouth worked on and i was put on ibuprofen 800 ,vicodin and penicllin and i have had three periods this month, but now the cramps i have are unbearable and it hurts to even stand. Any ideas on what it could be ?
1041243 tn?1375230520 Has anyone else expirienced this with vicodin? How long does it last after the vicodin is discontinued? Can this happen with other narcotic pain meds? Any thoughts on this would be greatly appriciated.
Avatar m tn I'm not sure if you can get physically addicted to a pain killer in six days, but I guess you could be mentally or emotionally addicted to it. Sometimes after a surgery people experience depression and/or anxiety, and it sounds as though you definitely have some anxiety. You shouldn't take additional Tylenol if you're taking Vicodin as it has Tylenol in it. You can take ibuprofen, which helps things other than pain; it helps inflammation.
Avatar n tn Did your doctor prescribe that does of ibuprofen? If not, do they know you are taking it? This is a concern because you could tear your stomach up and she can give you a prescription to prevent that. Have you tried using heat to treat your foot? Or does ice help more?
Avatar n tn NO! do not take an opiate even just vicodin with subs----can make for a really bad reaction! Can be ER room bad. Trust me do not take it.
Avatar n tn Usually NSAID's taken with Vicodin are quite effective in controlling pain if you are not used to taking Narcotics. I take an NSAID twice a day and Vicodin a couple of times a day as well. The only problem I have ever encountered are stomach irritation with the NSAID. There are contraindications in taking them together and if that is what you doctor prescribed then it should be fine.
Avatar f tn I was given vicodin and told I could alternate that with Advil. I took the vicodin only before bed and did ok with just the advil during the day. I would say just try the advil, it that doesn't cut it for you then the next time that you can take some meds take the percocet. By the third day I barely needed the advil anymore. I hope it starts to feel better for you soon! Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar m tn What have you been taking and for how long? Do you have chronic pain issues? There are a lot of people here with personal experience and knowledge about many different kinds of meds and withdrawal remedies. If you can just a little more info there should be others along to lend support and suggestions. Congratulations on deciding to do this. . . . sounds like you are ready!
Avatar f tn She wants to put me on Buprophen and other stuff possibly that the pain clinic suggest. She is going to work with me in conjunction with the substance abuse program and pain clinic. Maybe there is hope yet. Anyone take Buprophen; and your feelings about how well it works for pain?
Avatar f tn Is it true you shouldn't take ibuprofen it can harm the baby? I just seen this today while doing research as to this is my first. i have been taking it before I found out I was thinking my period was coming and I've always had bad cramps so I know to start taking it before my period comes to help with the pain. Should I be worried that I've harmed the baby from taking it? I'm 5 weeks BTW.
Avatar f tn I stretched the vicodin by also taking ibuprofen for 9 days. For the last two days the exact same level of pain is back. I called and went in today where another doctor saw me and told me it was because I grind my teeth and I was going to need a night guard. I don't grind my teeth. I never have. I clench my teeth at times...but I do not grind. ( They've been my dentists for years, why didn't they mention it before?
