Taking vicodin for recreational use

Common Questions and Answers about Taking vicodin for recreational use

vicodin

Avatar f tn I am, or should I say was, a recreational drug user. In the last two months I smoked pot regularly and took approx. 3 vicodin 10mg and 1 percocet 10mg to help with back pain from a car accident. I don't regularly use pain meds and am far from addicted, I am just so worried that those couple pills hurt my little one. :( help!
Avatar m tn Well, I really don't know what to say. You slipped the vicodin in there on me. Yeah buddy, to me I see some red flags with you. I don't think I would be doing anybody a service if I didn't try and warn you that what your doing is very dangerous. I think before you do anything else try and educate yourself with the dangers of recreational drug use. I've been around the block son. The other side caused me more problems than you'll believe.
Avatar m tn Been taking 5-6 5 mg hydro a day due to a disc protusion, really want to get off of them and am taking them for the high not the pain as there isn't any...messed up...
Avatar n tn At first I was taking 6-8 Vicodin/day for about a week. Then got down to 4-6/day for several days. Yesterday, very little pain & only took 1 Vicodin. Today, 1/2 Vicodin. I feel awful, anxious, weak, sometimes dizzy, low (for me) bloodpressure, just generally not good. I am bipolar and take 50 mg. Lamictol & 1 1/2 to 2 mg. Ativan. Wondering if I'm experiencing Vicodin withdrawal?
Avatar m tn Hi Shelly, If your not becoming physically dependent on them, there is no real health risk associated that I can think of, however I'm not a doctor. It's the equivalent of taking one Tylenol every day. I'm not completely certain what other effects hydrocodone has on the body over long term use, but you start to get into real trouble when it becomes a physical dependency issue.
Avatar n tn I have no desire to take them for recreational purposes at all. I just want to make sure Im not going to get dragged through withdrawals again. I was only prescribed 10 5/325 Vicodin and im just looking for reassurance that im not going to be put through hell again if i need to take a couple for pain over the course of a few days.
Avatar f tn Hi All, I have found great help in reading all your posts and want to say thanks. I have always like taking vicodin as a recreational drug (like when out drinking on a weekend and a friend hands me one); however, I had a bad accident 1 1/2 ago and have been on them ever since. I take 1 a day during the week...But on weekends, I find myself taking 2 or 3 a day. I know deep down inside I do not need them anymore for the pain. If I do not take one, I start sneezing constantly and can't stop.
Avatar f tn that i just want to do it on my own. will i be ok if i just stop taking vicodin, i have been taking 1-2 pills a day for almost 2 years it seems that if i dont take one my heart pumps reallly fast, is that a withdrawlor what. do people die from stopping the med.
Avatar f tn He also contends that if someone, like yourself, is only taking them for post-surgical pain, if they STOP taking them when the pain is resolved from surgery, then they will not become addicted or have the desire to continue taking them, but get back to their life. Interestingly enough, when I reflected back on my own stupidity, that held true for me. It was a choice on my part to use my medication, "recreationally," that let to being physically addicted.
Avatar m tn s marijuana use is not deemed excessive and does not interfere with daily function, subject must be instructed to discontinue any current use of recreational marijuana prior to entry into study and throughout the study period
Avatar m tn t see why it would be a problem in your case. Taking an occasional vicodin for legitimate pain will not cause addiction or dependency. If you start taking it every day - or even every other day - then it would be time to stop and reflect again. Like some others have said though, if you are truly in pain and nothing else your doctor prescribes work - then you need to consider your quality of life and weight the pros and cons. All the best to you.
Avatar n tn To joke about some one considering taking cocaine for recreational use who has had three bypass surgeries and is taking blood thinners is just a little reckless. Takes all kinds I guess........................
Avatar m tn s been a recreational use under the guise of pain. In the last year I moved abroad and now it is incredibly easy for me to get access to Vicodin - I literally just walk into a pharmacy, ask, pay, and leave. No questions, no prescriptions. What was once my heaven has now become my hell. For the past year I've been secretly buying and taking Vicodin recreationally. I have roommates and one of them is my girlfriend.
Avatar n tn Did your doctor prescribe it to you for this? If not, STOP right now...'experimenting' with prescription medications, which are extremely addictive can NEVER have good outcomes.
Avatar f tn An additional concern I have is that I have put myself at risk because of recreational use of Vicodin, which has gone on for about 2 yrs. While I have never taken more than a small dosage on a given day (never more than 500mg in a day and most often about 250mg), my usage has been fairly consistent usually about twice a week. Would a tinnitus resulting from Vicodin use be more likely to result in strictly tinnitus, without the hearing loss? Thanks everyone. I really appreciate any input.
Avatar m tn It is just your mind and body giving you signals of need that make you even think of recreational use still. That will happen for a long while. You just have to tell yourself that you don't want to go through nasty withdrawals again and soon the cravings will get easier and easier to resist. It just takes willpower and time. Maybe finding a new hobby or taking a class can help keep your mind occupied with something else besides the cravings.....
Avatar n tn I finally realized I have an addiction and I am wasting to much money on them. I really enjoy taking them for recreational purposes but I think its about time I stop. Compared to others, and the readers of this, is my addiction severe? I am thinking about tapering down to about 2 a day and then after about a week stopping cold turkey. I think this would be effective. I've gone thru withdrawals before and they are HORRIBLE as you many know. But my vicodin intake was never quite this high.
Avatar f tn Why are you taking the vicodin? What kind of pain was it prescribed for? Vicodin can cause breathing problems if that is what you are referring to when you mean your "chest seems heavy". The back and neck could be your anxiety or your brain coming up with pain to get more pills. If you are worried about addiction and you don't have a medical reason to take the pills I would stop taking them now before you become addicted or dependent on them.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Vicodin for hip pain for 6 months, now up to 15mg/3x/day. My doctor today switched me to Tramadol to wean off of the Vicodin over 3 weeks, then stay with the Tramadol. Is Tramadol just as addictive as the Vicodin? Will it help with any withdrawl symptoms I may have from going off of the Vicodin? I am terrified of withdrawl and have no idea if I will experience withdrawl symptoms. Any info on this subject would be greatly appreciated!
397118 tn?1219762250 thank you for that info.....I was a rx user only...not recreational.....3 yrs on vicodin until a few weeks ago..ct with all the known problems, but now see the light at the end of the tunnel...except....the horrible back pain ...that got me in trouble to begin with.......perhaps your recommendation could help me...
Avatar f tn I am determined to break free from this horrible addiction to vicodin that I have been struggling with for about 2 years. I have taken 5-7 pills a day, various strengths, for recreational use. Well, I stopped getting high from it a while ago & now I am living in a constant state of withdrawal. I am taking more and more and falling into a deeper & deeper depression. I need to stop. Can anyone tell me how long I can expect to feel W/D symptoms from vicodin.
Avatar m tn Ok, just trying to look out for your well being. If you were taking more than you said and for a longer time than I might be concerned. Remember though, there is a mental side to why we abuse substances as well, so maybe think about what may have triggered the need to take the pills in the first place.
606482 tn?1220540197 I have been using vicodin for 4 years. I have tried to stop, been to detox,NA nothing seems to be helping. I started off taking them for back pain and then became addicted. I cannot seem to stop thinking about them, and try everything to get them when I run out. It has pushed my spouse away and I want to stop but its always on my mind. I currently take about 5 daily and I am 7 months pregnant.
Avatar n tn And I am not even sure if you could call coke use recreational - for the people that really like it (your BF is one) there is no recreational use a time or two a month or whatever. Its a slow ride downhill to all of the negatives you have heard about it. I cant make your mind up for you - but I would say if your BF says he wont marry you without the other girl along .... send him packing. Perhaps have him read some things from the Grandfather of coke himself - Sigmund Freud......
