Taking suboxone with tramadol

Common Questions and Answers about Taking suboxone with tramadol

suboxone

1081265 tn?1256138365 Suboxone will work but only if you are taking substantial amounts of tramadol; if you are on small amounts, it could conceivably make your dependence worse. Being on zoloft and large amounts of tramadol introduces another risk too which I won't go into here.
Avatar m tn I don't really think the tramadol will work while you're taking suboxone. Suboxone makes it impossible for other opioids to bind while it's in your system. Tramadol is a very weak opioid as it is, so I doubt you will get any benefit from it at all while on suboxone.
Avatar m tn I take Suboxone for pain due to too many past problems with addiction. I'm wondering If I could take Trammadol at night, long after I have taken my last dose of Suboxone? Since Trammadol is NOT an opiate, would there be any adverse effects? I've read some questions and answers in this forum and people are talking about Trammadol as it is a Opioid, which it IS NOT! Anyone who is in the know on this question know any answers to this?
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome! How much tramadol are you taking a day? That needs to be tapered down due to the possibility of seizures. Are you getting them from a doctor?
Avatar f tn Has any one had experience with taking suboxone SHORT TERM, (4 days) for withdrawal symptoms from tramadol. I used suboxone to help with the withdrawal symptoms of oxicodone over a year ago. It helped alot. They got me through that ring of fire. But I was perscribed tramadol over a month ago for back pain from an injury @ work. I no longer have the pain, all healed up, but I can not make it through the day with out the tramadole.
Avatar m tn It would take an ungodly amount of even a stronger opiate or narcotic to override it. I suggest taking something OTC and asking the doctor who prescribed you the suboxone what you should do for pain management because I'm sure you don't want to ruin your progress.
Avatar f tn lastly but most importantly, what are the experiences with suboxone? Has anyone been successful with this route and is it reasonable to expect i can ween myself off in 4-6 weeks? i don't want to be on this for a long time for obvious reasons. Going from 200 mg of oxycodone a day to the suboxone what can i expect? my biggest concern is the sleep problems and being so jittery in bed it keeps my wife awake.
Avatar f tn Suppose wait like 72 hours befire taking opioid with suboxone cause you withdrawl a day or so cause of the blocker but tramadol isint really a narcotic and I've took those plenty times ontop my sub when I used them it didn't bother me like oxys WILL but sub is I like methadone you can't start back over from day one while your off the drug compleyly how many days are you off of it?!
Avatar f tn I have been off Suboxone for 10 days and taking 150 mg of Tramadol per day for the past 5 days. I thought I was starting to feel better but now am just still so sick. I have 2 children to take care of one who is an infant. I feel like giving up..... Is the tramadol prolonging my withdrawl symptoms? Should I stop? Or should I just call my Dr. and go back on Suboxone but less mg. I was taking 4 mg of Suboxone per day. I don't know if I can go on like this. How long until I feel better?
Avatar f tn but,it does work on the same receptors in ur brain u should look it up u said u r taking suboxone does this not help with ur pain?It is prescribed for that as well as an alternative to the crazy never ending cycle of opiate addiction,u said u were afraid of seizures an thought that u possibly were going to have one.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the advice, yea I only have 6-8mg films, so its not much. However when I took the Suboxone I didn't need more than 8mg for it to work well enough to not have the cravings or anything, so I could use a lot less just for tapering purposes. DHC is also a synthetic opiate like tramadol but structured differently, its big in Europe and I get them online which is how I became addicted to them.
Avatar m tn Hi, Taking Suboxone to come off of Tramadol is like taking Heroin to come off Methadone. It is not suggested and is rarely accepted. You will surely be adding to fuel to the fire if you go that route. What else have you tried? Have you spoken with your doctor?
Avatar m tn today is day 4 with no suboxone. Now... I decide to research tramadol and came across these horror stories. S**T, I thought I found an answer. Tomorrow, I am determined to start going cold turkey. I can't imagine having too much trouble with tramadol WD's considering it's only been 4 days, right? Anybody have suggestions? I have had a hard time getting off suboxone completely, but desire to do so immensely. Comments are appreciated.
290532 tn?1308136770 At what point do I have to go Cold Turkey before the appointment or do I even need to do that. My fear with coming off tramadol is siezures along with the other horrible withdrawl symptons. I have to make a plan for this. If anuone has experience with this, and could tell be a bit more that would be awesome!
Avatar f tn I have 6 pills left, and EVERYTHING I have read says that Ultram and Suboxone are prescribed together, and that taking Suboxone too soon after Ultram WILL NOT throw you into precipitated withdrawal. But of course there is always the one commentor who says "of course it will, Ultram is an opiate, blah blah blah." So I'm scared to death I'll make it worse. I was just hoping that giving my body a little bit of Serotonin here and there will take away the zaps. Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn I am concerned about you going cold turkey off that amount of Tramadol. How much Tramadol exactly were you taking per day?
Avatar m tn yesterday was 1st day with no tramadol...5th day with no suboxone, today is day 6 no subox, day 2 no tramadol. Can I count today as my 6th day of sobriety or only my 2nd? I only took tramadol 4 days n thot it was like aspirin or Aleve. I was ignorant. Counting victories one day at a time but I want to b accurate.
Avatar f tn We did tried tapering down but was very hard, the pain was horrible, the flu like symptoms were so bad, diarrhea, vomiting, what’s worst depression and I felt like I can’t breathe. Please someone help let me know if easy stoping tramadol with suboxone was. Thank you.
Avatar f tn the brain zaps are very infrequent, and I usually feel okay on just 2mgs of Suboxone a day. I want to stop taking the Sub when the withdrawal from Tramadol should be over, but I heard that Tramadol withdrawal lasts longer than opiates. I'm getting excited because I might not even need an SSRI, as I am feeling much better from the Serotonin withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar f tn hi guys, i am in need for major help! i am an addict of 17 yrs and i am currently in the suboxone program. my story is a long painful one as is most addicts, i started using many street drugs, always in combo's such as oxi, xanax, meth, etc. i have tried quitting many times only to fail and fall back straight from the gate and end up 100x worse than before!
Avatar n tn i substituted Tramadol for the disconmfort and Now cannot stop taking that! i am thinking i should be on suboxone after all??? My sponsor says no, just use her and the program. I have access to tramadol, and I want to be CLEAN again! I tried to do Thomas 's recipe but an't cut back! yet. I hat withdrawals and I can't handle athe anxiety part. I HAVE to go to work but o feel like checking into a motel by myself and detoxing so my family won't see me go through this.
Avatar m tn Tramadol might help with withdrawls but it's not a narcotic soo I dunno man. But I was on about 10 10mg hydrocodone ,1 to 2 40 mg oxys, about 2-5 somas a day, mind it if I made more money at work that week( commission job) it was significantly more that that, with fentanyl suckers/ patches, the 100mcg, oxymorphone, roxys, ect. But I got on suboxone, and that helped with the withdrawls better than anything and it's not methadone.
Avatar m tn The amount of tramadol I was taking was FAR STRONGER than the suboxone I am taking. I have no disillusion about how difficult sub withdrawal can be, but I believe that tramadol is MUCH more difficult to quit. I kept relapsing and the symptoms from withdrawal were worse than death. I started taking subs a week and a half ago and they have helped me SO MUCH!!!!! I disagree with anyone who says that subs aren't a good choir for tramadol addiction.
Avatar f tn ga is right most doctors will not prcribe sub for tram addiction we have had a few members find a doctor to do it but its few and far between.Tapering is by far the best way to get off tram as ga said .You can do it .How much are you taking how long have you been on it .
