percocet

2110255 tn?1334188549 however, if you ever feel you no longer need the percocet or want to stop taking the percocet, talk with your doctor as he/she will give you tapering instructions that you will need to follow closely. The instructions will give you specific information on how to reduce the medication slowly to minimize withdrawal symptoms. Some additional medication may be prescribed to help with the withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar f tn As the aging process takes a hold of you it gets easier to live with pain, by taking medication, BUT it also makes you not have any tolerance for pain when you take that much. Maybe you can have him come read the forum. AND WELCOME to the forum and you are great for helping him!
Avatar m tn What are my options for the breakthrough pain, that is what I am taking the percocet for and I need to stop with the Tylenol already enough is enough. I talked with my doc last time I was there to see her, and this is when she switched me to the percocet from Vicoprofen, due to the fact that it was doing nothing for the pain. Please if you have any ideas I know you might not be a Dr. however, I just need some one elses opinion on this matter.
Avatar n tn I would not do that. You would be mixing 3 pain relievers. Percocet has acetominophen (Tylenol). I doubt your liver would enjoy the mix. I would check with your dentist or pharmacist. If bones are healing, you don't want to take Advil. That's what an orthopedic surgeon once told me. For some problems, you can alternate your pain meds. If your stomach isn't overly sensitive, you can probably handle 3 Advil at once.
706250 tn?1232453817 If two relieve your pain discuss this with your PCP and he may prescribe you one tablet with 10mg. Be cautious with the Tylenol and do not exceed the recommended daily amount which I beleive is 4 grams. I will look that up later to be sure of the amount. So if Percocet is helping your pain I beleive you can stick with that for awhile. They also make oxycodone without the Tylenol in it. Would you like a list of some other meds that are comparable?
Avatar n tn t give me something that would harm my unborn child but I am just curious to know what the affects are on a 37 week old fetus whose mother is taking 5mg percocet once to twice a day? Could my baby be born addicted? Is my child getting high off the affects of the pills?
203003 tn?1210855907 Percocet isn't made in a 30mg strength, only 5mg, 7.5 mg and 10mg. Percocet is oxycodone and tylenol. Oxycontin is oxycodone in a time released pill. They used to make a capsule of 15mg of fast release oxycodone that people called percocet 15's but that was a misnomer. I'm not sure that they still make them here in the US.
Avatar f tn I just take advil or tylenol as needed. Remember as long as you are taking the percocet, you CANNOT take tylenol. If weaning yourself off works, you should be percocet free in about 2 days. As for the appetite, that's normal...it takes awhile for it to come back. Make sure what you are eating is healthy and that you are drinking plenty of fluids. Also, if you haven't had a BM yet, you might want to go ahead and take a stool softener like Ducolax so you don't get too constipated.
Avatar f tn Percocet has oxycodone in it rather than the hydrocodone in Vicodin. Oxycodone is stronger than hydrocodone. In my experience, the oxy worked better and I had less side effects (upset stomach and "dumb" feeling).
Avatar n tn however, use the tylenol in vicodin or percocet to curb drug abuse as most now know that it is the tylenol that has a higher chance of killing you than the opioid, if the max dose of acetaminophen (tylenol) is exceeded. Consider recording your pain levels in a pain diary on a day to day basis. Also document all medicinal and non-medicinal therapies used to try to reduce the pain and bring it in to your appointment.

Avatar n tn MY FRIEND IS TAKING PERCOCET 5 NOW BUT HAS BEEN TAKING A HIGHER DOSE AND NOW THESE FOR THE LAST 2 TO 3 YEAR AND NOW IS HAVING HEART PALPATATIONS AND IREGULAR HEART BEATING...COULD THIS DRUG BE CAUSING THIS?
Avatar m tn Dilaudid is a much stronger narcotic than oxycodone ( oxycodone is the narcotic ingredient in percocet). Percocet is tylenol and oxycodone combined. I think you will have much better pain control with the dilaudid for sure.
Avatar n tn My father gave me this Canadian tylenol with caffeine and codeine in it. I have been taking it for months at about 12 to 16 a day as that's what he said to do. I took my last four this morning. I am really frightened that I'm going have bad withdrawals from it. What can I do? Please help!
Avatar f tn I have been taking percocet (oxycodone acetaminophen) 5/325 1 pill 3 times a day. That was a great system that worked for me. Recently I was prescribed oxycodone minus the acetaminophen. I understand the risks of liver damage. However, I have had NO relief since I began this new drug. I'm confused because it is the same drug minus the Tylenol. Anyone else experiencing this? Would taking a higher dose of the oxycodone (not Percocet which is oxy with acetaminophen) help me better?
Avatar n tn Vicodin is not quite as strong as percocet and you have to make sure you dont go over the tylenol. How much tylenol is in each tablet? However it is still a narcotic and will keep you from going into w/d's.
Avatar f tn re taking too much tylenol -- this will cause liver damage over time. Please limit your tylenol to 3 g per day -- this is 6 - 500mg "extra strength" pills. There is tylenol in Percocet. In the mean time, please ask your doctor to rotate you to roxycodone which does not have tyelnol. A good pain management doctor will work with you and find a proper treatment regimen for your pain.
Avatar m tn I think I have finally had enough. After taking that pill last night and risking danger to my liver along with the alcohol I have decided to try to quit.
Avatar m tn I see a pain doc who prescribes my meds.my lower lumbar comes and goes, today its bad.ive been on 10/325mgs of Percocet 5 yrs+ he also prescribed robaxion 750mgs.ok I'm also taking 4mgs of Xanax a day for bipolar mixed. On it 11 yrs..I need to know if I can take these 3 meds a safe way. Not all at a time space them. If I don't need to keep taking the muscle relaxer than I will prn. the doctor said it would be ok with this med..
1326416 tn?1370927001 I am currently taking percocet as a break through med with morphine sustained release. I didn't have a choice on what I could take for breakthrough medicine. I don't take more than 1950 mg of tylenol per day via the percocet. I think the percocet and the vicodin puts a "cap" on how much a person can take before destroying their liver. My doctor has been very trustworthy of me but always wants me to stay on these combo meds.
Avatar f tn Take a week to do it and then stop. If you are taking Percocet for pain, take Tylenol instead, but no more than directed. Make sure that your OB/GYN is aware that you have been taking Percocet during pregnancy; baby may need extra attention after birth. But if you wean yourself early enough before delivery everything should be fine, just don't do it abruptly. If your pain is not controlled with Tylenol, please talk to your physician and your OB to see what your options are.
389342 tn?1200699464 my mother probably does know the difference, however, she does not know the reason that i am having these symptoms, she did not know that i am in withdrawal from percocet. if someone gave me a tylenol or a tylenol with codeine, id never know the difference from looking at it. i had never even seen a percocet until my dentist placed me on it in october.
Avatar m tn t know your Health situation, and or your Health history, but I got the percocet changed to the oxycodone instint release, because my daily dosages of Vicoden, and Percocet just had me taking way to much Tylenol with both scripts taken together. The excess Acetaminophen was causing my Liver emzymes to elevate, and at that time years ago I was giong to be taking both medications together for a long period of time. It was imparative for me to take as less Tylenol as possible.
Avatar f tn I was in a bad car accident 2 years ago and suffered cervical spine injuries and have chronic pain. I have been taking Percocets since June 2010. I I have such a serious problem with them and no body knows. I probably take up to 35-40 a day... Should I taper off or go cold turkey? The withdraw symptoms that are the most unbearable are the restless legs and the hot/cold. I don't even know what else I can expect??? I have quite a few Valiums, should I try to taper off and use those?
Avatar f tn It is a quality of life situation, as I am disabled as a result of it. I am currently taking Percocet 7.5/500; however do not want a pain medication with tylenol. I am on another medication that is hard on the liver, so it is important that I stop this. My pain is also more resistant because of an arthritis component. Could anyone tell me what would be one step up from the Percocet that contains no tylenol.
Avatar n tn Don't fret!!! You' and the baby will be fine. I'm also 38 weeks (yay us!) and have been taking Tylenol to help with my current back pains. So long as we don't go over the recommended amount of doses per day, we're fine. It does absolutely nothing to our tiny human.
Avatar f tn Ah -- the stomach pain. Since most long-termoxy abusers (I'm guessing here, but just "most") end up snorting the suff, there isn't the same direct, immediate contact with the stomach. Have you tasted the stuff? It's extremely bitter -- either very acidic or very alkaline. Either way, it's an assault on a sensitive stomach, especially if you chew them. NOTE: Could you clarify what preparations, and for how long, you've been taking?
