Common Questions and Answers about Taking paxil for the first time

paxil

Avatar f tn Hi Everyone, This is my first round with anxiety and I have had a wing dinger of a time. I thought I was having a heart attack, which I am finding out is very common, went to the ER and was sent home with my heart looking good. My bp has been up but it's back to normal now with new medication from my GP. I however, keep getting this really shaky feeling inside. My OBYGN gave me prescription for Ativan and Paxil.
445725 tn?1206388767 Are these effects just placebo effects or indications that the medication is working for me? Also, I noticed that as the time approaches for me to take my next pill, I feel a little more 'worked up' than usual. Thoughts? Thanks!
2065348 tn?1331075207 Within 2 weeks I felt so much better and took away the derealization I was having to ( worst feeling in the world ) then when I found out was pregnant I got off paxil again. I did great for the first 18 weeks of pregnancy but started getting ocd and anxiety and the derealization came back and I got ( am ) so scared and now depressed so my doctor told me to get back on paxil and it’s been over a month and it’s not doing anything.
Avatar f tn I've read a few posts about anxiety and tremors. My tremors started when I started medication. I've tried sooo many different meds and get bad side effects. The meds really did a number on me. Now I have the shakes in my hands and left leg all the time. Sometimes it's hard to write. I'm getting an MRI in 2 days to check.
Avatar m tn By not taking your dose at the same time you are essentially missing doses. But the problem is, everything you're reporting is a possible side effect of taking antidepressants. Don't know if you read the insert that comes with the med, but everything you're reporting is there. Here's my take. You don't say if Paxil is the first med you've tried.
Avatar n tn I LOVE the stuff....I used to take Paxil without it, but still dealt with a lot anxious feelings. It helped so much with my morning anxiety and shakes that I was feeling, it was AMAZING! It definitely helped me.... do you take it with an SSRI or alone? how many milligrams?
Avatar n tn Paxil is one of the most difficult antidepressants to stop taking. Withdrawal effects are more likely to occur with Paxil than with most other medications. Are you weaning off the Paxil by yourself? If so, this is best done under the supervision of your doctor. You will need to reduce your dosage much slower than you have been.
Avatar f tn ve lost a lot of weight, I feel nauseous and sick all the time and thus anxious all the time. What triggers it is this feeling like I'm going to faint. Living with GAD this feels very different than what I know. I feel dizzy especially when I close my eyes! Along with the dizziness I have this weird feeling in my head when I lay down. Like its swimming or really heavy. When I walk it's like I'm on a boat or floating. I've been to my GP, neurologist, ENT, even optometrist.
Avatar n tn I have been on a .20mg dose of Paxil, for the first month and now on a .30 dose of Paxil for the next three months. I have experienced many of the same side effects as everyone else has mentioned on this Site. Although there was some initial success after the first 2 1/2 weeks, now the progress is spotty at best after two months. I find I can read text books and technical reading materials but find working on the computer still frustrating. (I wear glasses and am very nearsighted).
629068 tn?1222431926 thank you thank you for replying!! i feel better already. i wouldn't be surprised if the root of my symptoms were from anxiety and panic. just this morning i woke up with my heart palpitating, and trembles everywhere. i was scared i was going to have that dizzy feeling again when i woke up, so i basically brought the panic attack on myself.
Avatar m tn Hello again! You posted: "Did you have any reactions to the Paxil when on it or when weaning from it? I'm curious to find what meds have worked for different people as there are WAY too many AD horror stories and I do not want to go down that road." My body felt like a crazy hurricane when I started taking Paxil. There were many times that I wanted to quit taking it, but I'm glad I didn't because in the end, it was the best medication for me.
Avatar n tn These physical irritations have stopped since I stopped the paxil. I am super-sensitive to most medications, and Paxil was all I was taking at the time. My doctor and counselor think because of my sensitivity it could work that way. I don't know what to do.
467977 tn?1262714747 Does anyone know if these are the same? I used to take Paroxetine generic (civilian world) and now realized the army pharmacy gives me Paxil but they label it "Paxil (Paroxetine)" on the bottle....hmmmmmmmmm.............
Avatar m tn t seem to be doing anything for me so I might call the doctor tomorrow and tell him I know you told me that I have to take these pills but trying my best here and taking small steps but first taking one med for 3 or 4 days than start taking the Paxil next as for this beta blocker the doctor said its meant to be taken at night for sleep and keep u calm and relax.
Avatar f tn That racy feeling continued for the duration of my time taking the medication. Yes, I lost weight, but you have to weigh whether it's worth staying on. I decided not to continue taking it and switched back to Paxil, which I've been on for at least 3 years. The weight started to come off slowly, about 8 months ago with a better diet and more excercise, so it will be possible I believe.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Citalopram for about 9 months for anxiety and panic attacks. I still have a hard time just sitting around, I feel like I have to be busy all the time to keep me from wanting to run or jump up and down. I feel figity and cannot sit still. I am on 40 mg. a day.
Avatar f tn I have really bad anxiety and anger issues. Been on paxil for over a year. Ive been trying to get off of them but cant stand the way my body feels without them. Been trying to substitute with xanax. I am now 7 weeks and i feel great when i take a xanax... ive heard paxil can cause birth defects... but how safe is my baby while on xanax? I dont take more than 1mg a day...?? Havent been able to get on medicaid yet and contact a dr about my situation. I feel i need the xanax to feel motivated.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking 40 mg of Paxil for anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. My doctor has suggested we try to add a low dose of Wellbutrin to this. What can I expect from this combo? I have never taken wellbutrin before.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking ativan when needed. Not all the time. It really helps with the anxiety, but makes me tired.
Avatar f tn I am a 36 year-old male now, so I was about 24 years old when I took my first pill. At the time, I was diagnosed with pretty severe GAD and Panic Disorder. Sometimes, I wish I had never started the medication - but I know that it has helped me to live a more full and productive life. Lately though, I have been worrying about what the long-term effects of this medication are? Paxil wasn't meant to be taken for more than 6 months to 1 year from the research that I have been able to gather.
