I would not stop the Lyrica and pace yourself with the benadryl.I used Nyquil without the decongestant for a few nights in the beginning to help me sleep. There is always the possibilty of the benadryl being habitforming not truly addicting. As long as you do not become dependant on the benadryl for sleep all the time I don't think there is no harm using it a few nights.

(They have considered taking me to John Hopkins and doing a nerve biopsy) After a week or so on this medication I called and told him I was getting no better and that I did not like how I felt on this medication. Instead of trying something else they increased my dosage until I was taking 600 mg. of Lyrica per day plus Cymbalta and Loritab. I was a walking Zombie, at my lowest point I could not even write my name where it was legible.

I see my doc this week, and want to ask him about medications for nerve pain (Neurontin or Lyrica). It seems like everybody on this forum is taking narcotics for pain, but I want a different option. Can anyone give me advice?

Besides Lyrica and Neurontin, what other pain med is really out there for Fibromyalgia? I have taken both. Loved the Lyrica. I had no pain but the side effects were terrible, including the two broken toes. My GP put me on Neurontin and I am up to 600mg as of last Friday. One 300mg in the morning and one of the same at bedtime. I still have pain but not quite as bad but u know it's still there. I have some side effects from it, too, especially legs and ankles swelling daily.

You therefore have options that have helped many other IC patients. You need to talk to your Urologist or find one with experience in managing difficult to treat IC. Go to ichelp.org for a list of IC specialists across the country. Good Luck.

I am currently taking Tramadol also, along with my other medications..... It works pretty well for me but that is because I try not to take it during the day because I take it at night with my Zanaflex and it knocks me out......

I am on Tizanidine (Zanaflex). Suppose to take two 4mg tablets everynight before bed. And I'm on midrin also as needed for pain. But I'm currently out of midrin and it's $30 after insurance so can't get refill right now. And not so sure the zanaflex is helping any! I've heard slot of people talk about the neurontin. I may talk to doc about it. I need something to help me sleep at night also! Ugh...

The one thing to be aware of with taking this drug is that you cannot be taking any narcotic pain medication while taking this drug because it works as what we call an "antagonist" to narcotics. This means that the naltrexone makes the narcotics stop working.

This is especially the case with seizure medications (like lyrica), heart medications and SSRIs (which are all types of medications used to treat migraines which is why I mention them all). With Lyrica specifically, it should be slowly tapered off over a least a week, if not longer. Your doctor will give you the safest schedule to stop the medication on if you ever want to stop taking it.

It does sound like the medication is causing some CNS problems in your case. I know that there are other medications that can cause 'tics', and it's a side-effect. The plus side is that there are other medications that can be used in place of Lyrica to treat certain issues. I would encourage your future son in law to explore other options if possible.

I am taking 200mg Lyrica daily, plus 20mg Prozac, and Vicodin 5/500 as needed. I am miserable today - hurt all over I have a dr appt tomorrow morning but today is still long. I'm out of Vicodin and I have had a few 8 mg Dilaudid hanging around for awhile because a friend gave them to me. Has anyone had this combination of drugs? I need something but I am afraid the Lyrica and Prozac might interact with Dilaudid. Has anyone used Dilaudid to manage Fibro pain?

Anyone have luck with other pain medications other than Percoset for nerve pain?

Just wanted to say thanks man! I was already skeptical about it and now I really don't think I'm going to even start it. i have a job where I really can't afford to be walking around in a daze and slurring my speach. LOL! I wonder why it affects people with addiction tendencies? Does it give a person a euphoric feeling or something?

I've been taking lyrica for months now and it has not helped me at all. I had a really bad flare up this week and i almost felt like it was the cause.

The Commerical for Lyrica alone is terrifying with all the disclaimers and I've heard some bad things from other people.. I'm one of those people who always seems to have the worst case scenario happen so I just assume the worst and have never felt good about trying it. I don't have any great reason just that feeling you get. I may give it a whirl..at first I was resistant b/c it was soo new,, but now it's been out a while.......

my doctor was so worried about that with me. We came to the conclusion that with one of medications I was on it curved my appetite and then the lyrica was said to gain weight. however, i lost weight. so I wasn't complaining. When I did eat, I just ate right. Lots of natural foods, no processed foods, no nitrates, no soda/caffeine, no hfcs, lots of fruits and lots of veggies.
