Taking lyrica with cymbalta

Common Questions and Answers about Taking lyrica with cymbalta

485259 tn?1519050626 Today is the day I start taking Cymbalta along with my 2x 150mg Lyrica. My neuro thinks this will extend the Lyrica to get me through the day without having to up the dosage to what I refer to as "zombie levels". My memory is bad enough as it is these days. My question(s): 1.Has anyone combined these two drugs and if so what were your results and/or side effects? 2. What is with the weight gain component of Lyrica? How does this work?
Avatar f tn I had been up to 4 Vicodin a day because of the pain, and with the lyrica as a side RX my pain med dosage went down. My pain decreased. I was taking 50mg, I was feeling so good I stopped taking the Lyrica, but my pain was too much, had to go back on it. The side effects I have were sleepiness and weight gain. So I take it before bedtime, and I work out as much as possible, this also helps with depression I might get due to having a chronic pain disease.
630344 tn?1280108583 I've been taking Lyrica for about 2 weeks now. The first few days were pretty discouraging, so much dizziness, lightheaded high but tired feeling. It has subsided each day that I've taken it though. I feel like I can drive now too. The burning pain in my back and legs has subsided also. I've even got back on my stationary bike the last 3 days with no major flares. I was told that it takes about 2 months to get the full effects of Lyrica and some of the side effects will subside too.
874521 tn?1424120397 I simply can't wait to be done with this Lyrica!!! Before the Lyrica I was on Cymbalta and only stayed in that for about a year and had to quit it bc it was making me feel bi-polar, my moods were all over the place and so much crying!! I was definately suicidal, and suffered from bad "zaps" like sticking your finger in a socket except it would zap and jerk me all over especially I'm my head/brain leading to migraines.
Avatar m tn My dr just gave me Lyrica. I have been taking 4 hydros 10/500 a day for several years. I very seldom use more, I took the first Lyrica last night and feel pretty sluggish today. Has anyone on here taken this and had any luck with it? I have read some bad things about it which I guess all of these pain killers have bad side effects. I just want to know has it helped anyone cut back on the other pain killers.
Avatar f tn I have had Thyroid problems for nearly 30 years, and Fibro for about 23. Taking Cymbalta and Lyrica with a fairly mild muscle relaxer, and can mostly function. Can't say all is rosy, but at least I can do most of what I need to do for my day.
193953 tn?1272078626 I am at a point where I am going to a different Doctor for a prescription for Lyrica. I had no problem with it at all after taking it for 3 months. As was previously stated everyone acts different to each drug. If I had been diagnosed properly the first time I could have taken Valtrex which would have prevented this post pain. It must be taken within 72hours of the shingles onset and before the rash develops. PLEASE if you people don't do anything take the shingles shot.
572651 tn?1531002957 I'm wondering if any of you have experience with Cymbalta or Lyrica.... Why was it prescribed - what symptom was it supposed to work for? how long did it take for it to begin working with your pain? Did you have any problems with side effects? Anything else you can add?
1627868 tn?1333889942 I was wondering if anyone here has taken or currently is taking cymbalta and what their experience with it is. My doctor wants me to start taking this at a low dose, I believe it's 30mg once a day, to see if it would help with my pain. She said she can also add neurontin down the road if needed. I just don't know.... I have read some pretty bad stories about the withdrawl from cymbalta and I really don't want to go through that, especially if I try it and it ends up not even helping anyways.
1168718 tn?1464987135 Hello, I was just wondering if any of you have had success with Cymbalta?? I am having issues with Gabapentin, and and looking for something to suggest to my dr. Anyone???
Avatar f tn I am planning to replace my morning dose,75mg, of Lyrica with the Cymbalta and keep up with the evening dose and see if that helps. If the nerve pain comes back I will definetly up the Lyrica again tho. It has been a Godsend to me! I still feel like I am 90 somedays, I am 49, but I am not bedridden on Percocet and muscle relaxers like I was before the Lyrica! Good luck and God bless!!
Avatar f tn How do they help with the pain? Do they help with chronic fatigue as well? I have been diagnosed with chronic fatigue, and the aches and pains(especially legs from my thighs to my ankels) are leading the doctor to think fibromyalgia. I was just wondering about these meds because I NEED some relief and I've heard many mentions of these meds. Can they be taken with provigil?
Avatar f tn I still have bouts of server depression, when i'm haveing a flare up, I also take lyrica w/ the cymbalta. they seem to work well together. Goof luck with everything. rember that you are in charge of your health care. don't let the incurance company run over you. keep changing dr. untill you get one you like and knows what FM is.
217229 tn?1192766004 OK - can anyone who has taken Lyrica and Cymbalta in conjunction with each other please give me your experiences --- and how long you've been taking them? I've been temporarily "diagnosed" with neuropathic pain issues (think Fibromyalgia). Waiting on some final test results to rule out any other Autoimmune Disease - but I believe I'll be finally diagnosed as Fibromyalgia. My Rheumatologist / Internist has prescribed Lyrica and Cymbalta together.
Avatar m tn Hi Cymbalta, I have recently been diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome in the right arm, I have now been on 100mg of Lyrica for approx 2months, with regards to side effects, I have none, however I don't really notice much difference in my pain levels either. I realise that the arm and back are different, but perhaps it may work for you.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm new here, but have had Fibro since sometime in the early part of 2001, but was not "officially" diagnosided until around 2004-2005.. Anyways amoung every other drug in the millions they Dr. s love to try on us "lab rats" I was given cymbalta almost a year ago along with Lyrica, to add to the Prozac, Fentynal, Soma, Feldine(sp??) cocktail i was already taking. I stopped taking it within two months!

394774 tn?1235074439 I had some lyrica left before being prescribed the cymbalta and noticed that by taking only one cymbalta in the morning and one of the left over lyrica at night with the AmbienCr I have been feeling a whole lot better. If the weather is bad then I take Vicodin for pain as needed. So maybe it just may work for you and in that sense.
177382 tn?1253044740 I couldn't handle cymbalta and lyrica... It literally made my world tilt sideways... I felt like I was crabwalking through molasses. I was put on ULTRAM 200 in the morning and ULTRAM 100 at night. For the past 6 months as long as I keep up my med cycle - I can function - and I don't think about the pain. I have lost weight - started exercising and have started living my life again. BUT --- I've been through the wringer in the last 3 years - and would NEVER wish it on anyone.
922573 tn?1304102929 I took neurontin but it did not provide good pain relief for me. I am taking Lyrica now and have responded much better. I have issues with depression and anxiety and have been on an SSRI for over a decade with good results. My PCP also wanted to try Cymbalta and titrated me off my SSRI and into Cymbalta. I nearly had to be hospitalized due to very, very dark thoughts and hopelessness. I was quickly put back on my SSRI and taken off of Cymbalta.
Avatar f tn DO NOT START CYMBALTA !!! If you go online and look at Cymbalta withdrawal you will be amazed. I have had 29 surgeries over the course of my life and have experienced some very severe pain including a thorotcotomy for spinal surgery, kidney stones, pelvic pain for numerous abdominal surgeries. I have weaned off of many narcotics over the years and have done OK by eating a very healthy diet, taking supplements, excercising, deep breathing and meditation along with praying.
Avatar m tn My question for all those out there is does the bloating and dizzy head ever stop? I take Lyrica and Cymbalta. The lyrica was added a week ago and It has helped the pain so much I don't want to stop it . My doctors said they can be taken together.
329994 tn?1301666848 She tried it before i did and once she had such success with it, i finally had the resove to get off the Cymbalta. I've never taken Lyrica but i have a friend who takes Lyrica as pain management for Deep Vein Thrombosis and he tells me it works very well for him. For the CFS i have taken Adderall XR for almost 6 years and it is the only thing that has worked for me. i take a rediculous amout but my doc says its safe and its the only thing that has allowed me to be normal-ish.
4074293 tn?1351900293 Talking to the doctor next week to try something else. I also tried cymbalta and cymbalta with the lyrica and they did not help the pain. The cymbalta was making me moody and irritable and i just wanted to be left alone.
Avatar f tn That does go away, and then it's wonderful! As far as weight gain, Cymbalta made me gain 15 pounds, which I lost--not easily, but with Lyrica, maybe just a couple. I am careful about what I eat, and have stayed a size 0-2. You don't have to gain weight if you just stay aware of it. I have actually been able to eat a little more, because with the pain and depression better, I exercise more.
1218873 tn?1300094816 I have been put on Cymbalta medication 60 mg at night to replace the 50mg of amitriptyline I was taking. I have taken it for nearly 2 weeks and there seems to be pros and cons. I also take 400mg of Lyrica a day. The amitriptyline was giving me a good nights sleep, but was not overly helping the neuropathic pain once awake, it also left a really bad taste in my mouth and I found myself eating constantly, and piling on wieght.
Avatar f tn I have been on Remeron for a few months and it has really helped with my anxiety. Recently my Doctor added cymbalta for nerve pain. This is only my third day with the cymbalta and my anxiety level is shooting through the roof. Also I have this dang ringing in my ears that does not want to go away. I questioned my doctor about taking remeron and cymbalta together and asured me that they work great together. I honestly don't know if I can stand this feeling. My husband wants me to hang in there.
Avatar f tn He's going to take over my acupuncture care, which I've had good success with and try some injections. He started me on Cymbalta. It's a new antidepressant that has had good results in chronic pain management, especially in women. Has anyone taken it? Any insight into how it works or doesn't work? Any side effects? I'd be curious if anyone has any thoughts on the medication. I'm starting at 30mg a day for 7 days and then increasing to 60mg per day. Thanks!
5100586 tn?1363648354 I was only on cymbalta for about 4 months. And the lyrica for about 2 weeks. I am taking my hydro as scheduled, and know I am not withdrawing from that. I have tried living without that, but my sacroilitis is severs, and I couldn't walk much without it. I did detox from it, but eventually went back to it because nothing I took or did helped with my pain, I was so miserable. The cymbalta was added for extra 'pain' relief. What a sham.
