m to take the Topamax and ibuprofen everyday and the Imitrex only when I have and episode with headaches. So maybe this will help me out. But as everyone suggested keep a detailed log of all symptoms before and after you start any meds. That way you can show your doctors and they will be able to adjust or take you off it completely if its not benefitting you. Good luck on your journey!

Welcome to the forum. I am very sorry to hear you are having bad migraines. I have a long history of migraines and so had to have a med I could take on treatment. I opted for Imitrex because it is okay with the Peg, Riba, and Incivek. Interestingly enough, I have not had any bad migraines on treatment but I think that is because I know most of the migraine triggers and have avoided them like the plague.

does either imitrex or maxalt contain caffeine? I was taking Maxalt for migraines and it worked great! Now my insurance has decided I need to try Imitrex before they will approve coverage for the Maxalt. The Imitrex took about 2 hours to have any effect, but eventually my headache subsided. Since then I have had recurring headaches for 4 days.

I don't have much of a question, but wanted to introduce myself. I've periodically had migraines throughout my life, but they were never very often. However, that changed since I've been diagnosed with lupus and fibromyalgia (as well as other chronic pain issues). Especially since the fibro was discovered (about 15 years ago), my migraines have increased in frequency. The week before last, I had 3 in that week alone.

I am so glad that you asked about imitrex! I take a triptan, like imitrex, and personally I think that triptans are the best treatment for acute migraines, and they are also the most prescribed medication for acute migraines.

y cycle for me, so I try to catch it before it gets too worse, but I always misinterpret my migraines with headaches or sinus headaches and end up taking ibuprofen which makes migraines worse! So don't ever do that or you'll be sorry.....

I am currently going through menopause and suffering with at least 9-10 a month, sometimes more. I am taking a lot of supplements to see if it will help. My concern is am I getting addicted to my medicine??What on earth do I do then?

Recently I have been experiencing persistent migraines. These are awful! I vomit and the whole nine yards. I have been taking Imitrex for the migraines, but have increased my intake to about one Imitrex every second day (that's what the averages tell me). My pharmacist raised the alarm and now my doctor is running tests. I didn't know, but apparently Imitrex, taken in large doses, can lead to stroke! This is the first forum I have ever joined.

As of now Ive had a migraine for 7 straight days! Its horrible!!! Ive taken Demerol, imitrex, tylenol/cod., Ibuprofen (with caffeine), tomamax...on and on. can someone please suggest, or give me some feed back !

The medication Treximet is a combination of Imitrex and Naproxen so that is what gave me the idea to start taking the naproxen at the same time as my Zomig... well, actually it was my doctor's idea, because I asked him about Treximet and he told me I could just take my regular triptan and naproxen at the same time. Also, oh, I didn't put Treximet down as an option, I am so sorry!! It's so new that I completely forgot about it! Oops, umm...

Thanks for the response I appreciate it currently I am just taking Vitamins and Omega, going on 2.5 months caffeine free but I don’t notice any difference if on or off. Fioricet works, also Imitrex shot did work. The sleep thing doesn’t matter with me I have had migraines with and without regular sleep. This is why I am at a loss...

Mind you, I generally avoid ALL over-the-counter medications when it comes to acute migraine treatments because they all have the potential to cause rebound headaches and they all have the potential to trigger migraine headaches. Especially any product containing acetaminophen and ibuprofen, this includes things like Midrin and Excedrin. Although, the problem here is that you have mentioned that you have had problems in the past with Triptans and my first suggestion is always triptans.

Is it safe to take Lexapro and Imitrex? There is a warning on the package against this but I thought I would ask the professionals first.

ve had to take Ibuprofen for sinus headache have anything to do with this showing up??? I also was taking Maxalt and/or Imitrex at the time. Hydromorphone sends me into anaphalaxis shock within 5 minutes even at the smallest of dosages.... i'm really concerned as to why this has showed up on my urine test...and how?!?!?!?

Is it true you shouldn't take ibuprofen it can harm the baby? I just seen this today while doing research as to this is my first. i have been taking it before I found out I was thinking my period was coming and I've always had bad cramps so I know to start taking it before my period comes to help with the pain. Should I be worried that I've harmed the baby from taking it? I'm 5 weeks BTW.

Today I went to see a neurologist today, and hopefully try to get him to get an MRI of my pituitary gland and thyroid, but he only prescribed some Imitrex (100mg), Propranolol (20mg), tramadol (50mg), and ibuprofen (800mg) for migraine headaches, I get them on and off, sometimes they are pretty bad but anyway that was all, and he didn’t see any other reason to have an MRI done.

Did not help this time. Ibuprofen helps a little but not for long. I also have pain in ear and behind left eye. Please help if you can. I have no insurance and cant see a Doc. for something that is more than likely nothing.

I was taking Ibuprofen for years and the pain in my knees was intollerable and I was confined to a wheel chair. About a year ago I started taking 1400 IU of Vitamin D and stopped the ibuprofen totally, my arthritis was doing MUCH better, even started taking short walks, however, recently, I had an injury and started taking Ibuprofen.....now my knees hurt all the time. hi this i defo something no about with my last pregnancy i had severe headaches and i was taking ibuprofen i was taken them all the time but i finally went to the doctors because the pain wouldn't settle and the doctor said DO NOT take ibuprofen just take cocodomal i think thats how you spell it lol.

I have suffered exploding head syndrome (also known as migraines) for many, many years. I found that Imitrex didn't work and when they were severe would have to go to the hospital and be shot full of demerol and vistaril (an antihistamine that made me sleep). It was not until I could sleep would they go away. That sometimes was several rounds from bounceback migraines and I'd be in the ER for days (happened about 4 - 6 months ago).

I used to get so many migraines and I was taking imitrex injections. When I moved the migraines got worse from stress and I started taking the imitrex daily, sometimes even multiple times a day. After about 3 months of this I started getting heart palpitations. They got so bad that I stopped taking my imitrex (cold turkey) on the whim that it was causing them. The palpitations started getting worse, but I had now talked myself into having a fear of imitrex (that it would kill me).

I have a rare bone disease which causes severe daily pain. It is incurable, but unfortunately not life threatening. I have been on oxycontin 40mg three x's dly, oxycontin short acting 5 mg 9 x's dly, and soma three times dly for the past 5-6 yrs.

t get imitrex tablets, get the imitrex or generic nasal spray or imitrex or generic injection OR treximex tablets but NOT imitrex tablets. - Zolmitriptan. brand name Zomig. this is what i use. (although i have used all of them at some point) don't get the tablets... like imitrex, the tablets don't work. But, the nasal spray DOES work incredibly well and this is what is usually prescribed anyway. - Almotriptan. brand name Axert. a very powerful triptan tablet.

Not sure about tylenol...my MD prescribed xanax and told me ibuprofen (motrin) was okay for pain.

Good Morning guys! I woke up with another migraine this morning. This is the 3rd one this month. I usually have about 2 in a year, but never this close together and this often. I have been taking 1 imitrex when I have a headache. My question is, "Is Imitrex habit-forming?" I have researched all the websites, but they also say that ultram isn't habit forming. I was just wanting some info from someone who has taken it.
