Taking ambien with hydrocodone

Common Questions and Answers about Taking ambien with hydrocodone

ambien

Avatar m tn I have been taking Ambien 10 mg per evening for years and in take xanax only sparingly. Recently, i've had rotator cuff surgery. I was prescribed hydrocodone 7.5 mg every four hours. I decided to reduce the ambien to 5 mg due to the interaction. I found it virtually impossible to sleep in a recliner as they have suggested (due to the sling).and then began taking 7.5 mg.
Avatar f tn does taking ambien slow down the withdrawal of hydrocodone? my body won't take getting off both at the same time.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the info. I don't think I'll get over the anger or mood swings until I get off of ambien. I'm 29 days off of hydrocodone. I think ambien has the same side effects as hydrocodone. I just want to be drug free!!!
Avatar n tn i have been taking lortab 10/500 & ambien for about 7 years. i am currently taking hydrocodone compound 15mg(5day), klonopin& alazopram, phentermine(3day), and when i fill a script for ambien i will take up to 7 late afternoon. i will also take the ambien and klonopin throughout the day if i am out of pain meds. i dont know were to start, i have hit rock bottom. i try to stop taking one then start abusing another.
Avatar m tn I had a minor surgery 2 weeks ago and have been using 40 to 50 mg of hydrocodone the entire time. I am wondering if I will have withdrawal symptoms, if I should try to taper off, or if it's ok to just stop immediately. I have heard that withdrawal is very painful and I am nervous.
Avatar f tn Can the ambien I take every night slow the healing progress in my brain I'm 16 days off hydrocodone
Avatar m tn This turned into more anxiety starting around dark because I knew what I would be faced with at bed time. I was told it could be the hydrocodone so I stopped 10 days ago. I was given .5mg xanax and 10 mg ambien. The panic or anxiety has prettymuch gone but I still am not sleeping listening to a sleep / meditation cd 2-3 times a night I NEED SOME RELIEF.
Avatar m tn m not taking codeine, though, but am taking Percocet, Opana ER, Lorzone, diazepam, Lyrica, & occasionally a Lidoderm patch. This same thing happened to me about a year & a half ago, at a different doc's office, was using a different pharmacy at the time.... I don't understand. How can this be? Could one of my prescribed meds do this, & if so, I'm like you all... why doesn't my doc know that? Thanks for any help! L.
Avatar n tn Hi Elf, Welcome to the Pain Management Forum of MedHelp, Ghilly has responded to your post very well and is correct. It's strange that hydrocodone has the opposite effect on me. It keeps me from sleeping. Obviously you are aware that hydrocodone is a narcotic that is prescribed for pain, not sleep. Is pain keeping you from sleeping or are you like to many millions of us Americans, you suffer from insomnia? Have you discussed this with your PCP?
Avatar f tn Hi Tooter... I'm so sorry to hear you are still struggling with pain and sleep. I am on day 28 today and I am struggling still also. Like I've said before, the vet prescribed my poor baby Chihuahua, a huge bottle of Hydrocodone 5 mg cough syrup, just sitting there on my kitchen counter. God how many times have I walked by it and just wanted to drink the whole thing down. But I don't. I know what you are going through Tooter. Believe me, I do.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking a sleeping pill called ambien, I also take hydrocodone, lexapo, lorazepam, sometimes meclizine if my stomach is nautious. So I began to take all my meds then I started on the ambien I took 1 at night now im taking sometimes 3-4-5 a day all through out the day and I dont understand why?
Avatar n tn Here’s a little history. In November of 2018 I quit taking hydrocodone (first was 10/325 which made me nauseous, then lowered to 7.5/325, then down to 5/325) as the first of many drugs my drs had me on. I felt like I was dying, my body was shutting down. Scary stuff. I was mostly on psych meds. Took a year to successfully get off all the psych meds which was hell. I started getting neuropathy due to my brain and nerves readjusting. My PCP has been wonderful and supportive in helping me.
Avatar n tn What are the risks of overdose with someone taking Xanax 0.5 mg tid, Perocet 120 per month, Vicodin 120 per month, Lortab 120 per month, and 30 ambien per month?
Avatar f tn I have been on Hydrocodone for about 6 years now for my back, I have severe spinal stenosis which causes a lot of pain. I am tired of taking this drug and wonder how hard it is to get of this. I take about 6 7.5's or 10's at the most a day and try to supplement it with Ibuprofen and aleve but it gets painful and I end up taking a hydro. I am hoping to get off this drug and learn how to live with the pain another way?
1379106 tn?1279033147 I am taking Hydrocodone for chronic pain as a result of a degenerative disc disease and a spinal fusion. I have been getting false negative test results intermittently with positive results. The Acetominophen shows up, but not the narcotic. My internal medicine doctor just switched me to the Fentanyl patch 25 mcg/h every 3 days. This is after taking 2 Hydrocodone/APAP(7.5/500 TAB) every 3 hours.
Avatar f tn Seven months of the highest hydrocodone dose and taking 2 every 4-5 hours for rotator cuff and bone shaving (cuff was removed and reattached...after 3 months of walking around with a broken arm that had grown back crooked). Dr. Lowered dose to 7.5/425 -40 per week...for 2 wk...then to 5 mg...40 per week. I took none for 2 days and wd symptoms were so severe that I have taken 5 mg several times a day for over a week. Must be able to work.
Avatar f tn I have been taking hydros for about a year last 6 months everyday anywhere from 2-5 a day 10's or 7.5's. Last dose yesterday at about 8:30 in the am. I am having chills, hot flashes, anxiety, body pain, fatigue, sneezing and itchy throat. When will I peak and the body ache passes? That's the worst.
Avatar n tn There are actually a couple medicines your family dr could give you to help with the withdrawls. I honestly don't know what they are but if you talk with your dr they would point you in the right direction. I have been on 4x a day Norco for 4 yrs. due to severe back pain and have went through the withdrawls myself and know how it feels as I wouldnt wish it on anyone.
Avatar n tn Recently (several months) been taking pills at least four days/week. On the weekends I may take 40mg hydrocodone in a night with muscle relaxers, and Lyricas. Anyway I've been feeling pretty depressed and moody lately especially on days without drugs. I can't sleep without Ambien, Valerien or Melatonin. My quality of life pretty much sucks. I've become very antisocial. Today is day 4 without drugs. I'm depressed, and have no energy. Took off work today.
401095 tn?1351391770 I sleep 8 hours a night and take about 3 mg of ambien many nights/I break them into pieces..I have been taking them for over 10 years and never have had a tolerence or abused them...
Avatar f tn I have been taking up to ten 10/500 Hydros per day for a couple years. I would run out every month, of course, but last month I really tried to make them last, breaking them in half and slowly cutting back. I see a pain management doctor for nerve damage/ back pain. Today is Friday, April 8th. I took my last Hydro on Tuesday. The squirts have stopped, still have problems sleeping, and my energy is slowing coming back. Watery eyes have stopped.
Avatar f tn I am new to this forum. I am trying to get off the hydro now. I have a partial stomach and digestive disorder. I really got dependent on it to where I never felt the pain because I continued to take it so I wouldn't feel any. I was taking liquid and tabs. with xanax, ambien. I can't believe how much I was taking . It all stemmed from having a gastrectomy and other stomach surgery. My one dr.
Avatar m tn I took 5mg on Wed night which helped get me thru the night. Last night was bad with RLS even though I had Xanax and ambien. I hate Xanax and the way it makes me feel so I'll stick to the ambien at night. I would like to take another 5mg tonight but don't want to set back the withdrawal. Do you think I would be setting the withdrawal symptoms back if I did this?
Avatar n tn It really won't be that bad, Really. Go for it, you can do it. I've come off much more hydrocodone than that and took it longer too. And worked while doing it. I read water meters and walk 10-12 miles a day. It's hard work, most people (4 out of 5) don't even make it a week at my job. And I did it, and did not even miss one day of work. Hydrocodone withdrawals are mild, really.
Avatar f tn For the past 15 yrs for the most part my treatment has been manipulations and cortisone shots maybe 4-6 times a yr. along with Hydrocodone/APAP 10 mg/500mg 6 tabs daily and either Temazepam or Ambien at bedtime. Of course being that long of a time, the Hydrocodone works but I need more and more and then if I take more and run out the withdrawls are devastating to go thru.
Avatar f tn Hi tooter. I am 52 or 53 days off Norco, and am working on the ambien now. Together with my Dr we are doing a very slow taper. We just decided my body didn't have another cold turkey in it so soon after the stupid norco. I am taking under 2 mg a night. Every time I reduce my dosage I struggle with sleep for a couple nights. Only get 4 hours or so. Then once I'm sleeping well for a bit we reduce again. All in all I feel pretty good. Just take it slow and steady with that ambien.
