I believe I am pregnant: I had been taking accutane for several months during the month of may and june 2009 i had been forgetting to take the meds, i was taking them every other day. Around June 11, I took one than I forgot to take one until the 19th, which is the same day I think I got pregnant. I did not take any other pill after that, do you think this can harm my baby?
I took Accutane as a teenager and developed a keloid after stopping. The keloid is linear on the center on my chest. When I was younger it really bothered me but now I wear low cut shirts and swimsuits with no hesitation. I find it humorous when I first meet people when wearing a low cut shirt. I am 20 years old I was using accutane for 6 months, I was supposed to have a small surgery in my pelvis while on the drug but my doctor told me to wait and he explained that no surgery should be performed because the drug does indeed interfere with wound healing in fact he recommended to get the surgery 6 months after I have been off the drug but you should definitely ask her doctor/surgeon about it and get a better opinion ...wish you and your daughter the best.
It is said that accutane causes birth defects,but you never know. Don't let your partner decide for you if to keep that baby or not. A baby is a blessing and that is a decision you should make on your own.
My derm says that I should be able to resume the course at the 10-week mark. I am worried that the accutane will not be effective due to the 5 week break in the middle of the treatment.
I would be grateful for your opinion on this.

It is often recommended that one lets a few months pass between the two treatments, because the condition can actually improve somewhat in the time after stopping the treatment and waiting a few months also gives the body a chance to recover. Occasionally a third or even a fourth course is used, but the benefits are often less substantial. The most common side effects are dry skin and occasional nosebleeds (secondary to dry nasal mucosa).
I am a 6'1 85 kg male who has been on accutane for 120 days (4 months). I started on 20 mg a day month 1, 40 mg month 2, and 60 mg months 3 and 4. 3 weeks ago I had my 1st eye infection of my entire life in my right eye so I went to an opthamalogist and he told me to stop taking the accutane for a week (which is what he says caused the infection) and put me on doxyclince hyclate 100mg twice a day and eurithromyocin gel to put on my eyelid that knocked the infection out.
I am on my second month of accutane taking 60mg everyday. I have recently been experiencing headaches almost everyday and i’m wondering if I am not taking it with enough food, if I am not drinking enough water or if it is just a normal side effect. Pain reliever helps it but i’m wondering why I am getting headaches every single day.
I have been gone for a day or two, so am answering all the questions today--sorry for the delay. When I did the math for you two, it came out OK. (For the long answer--read the earlier post). I think your baby has NOT been exposed to the accutane. I did suggest a first trimester ultrasound for reassurance though. I don't think you are obliged to terminate for fear of birth defects--luckily.
Could I develop some of these serious side effects, my eczema has been pretty bad since then, lots of bad flare ups all over my body (is this a direct result of taking the accutane)? I also have very bad gas and my symptoms match that of Irratible bowle syndrome, is this a direct result of the accutane?

Steroid rosacea is possible. I suggest stopping all steroids, by cream or by mouth. Topical antibiotics like metronidazole may help. If you weren't on Accutane, oral doxycycline might be useful, but you can't take that while taking Accutane (which may itself help if you finish off the course and don't use steroids any more.) This rash may take some time to heal, but it should in the end go away completely. Milk and food have nothing to do with it that I can think of.

I had the same problem with blood being discharged from my penis 10 years ago while I was on accutane for about 5 months. The best way to stop this is to stop taking accutane. At the time, the doctors immediately advised me to stop taking the medication. It can damage your urine flow. Today, I sometimes have extra urine leakage after urinating. I believe this to be one of the long term affects of taking accutane.
My dermatologist decided it was time to give accutane a try. I did a 7 month course and reached the target cumulative dose of 120 mg/kg. I did not have much of an initial breakout, was pretty much clear for months 3 to 6. Near the end of my course I started to get a few zits.
It has now been three weeks post-accutane, and I am starting to get more and more whiteheads. Not the big inflamed whiteheads I used to get but it looks like things are returning.

Im a 26 years old and may be 4 - 6 weeks pregnant. I have done a couple of home pregnancy test which all tested positive. My OB/Gyn appointment is not until next week. My husband is currently taking Accutane and had been on the medication for 4 months and counting. I've read that while taking Accutane, women are strictly advised against getting pregnant as it causes serious birth defects. Is it the same case for man taking Accutane?

They grow back very slowly, by which time the patient has nearly always outgrown their tendency for acne. Accutane can also affect hair, lips, eyes, nose and vagina. Skin can be fragile for up to 6 months after finishing Accutane. However, it is very unusual to still be experiencing vaginal dryness after a year.
Have you changed anything else, method of birth control for example?
Using a fruit-flavored lubricant will make it feel more sexy and less clinical than using something like KY Jelly.
The nurse said I had moderate arthritis and degeneration! I am only 34. All the sudden for the second time i could not get out of bed for a week. This is the end of the second week. The first week started on the 16th of July. I was going to a chiropractor before thinking it would help me cause I had no idea what was wrong. It made things worse I believe. I could be wrong. But during that time I was on 8 vicodin a day and 4 muscle relaxers. So I didn't feel the real pain.
