taking abilify with lexapro

Does anyone know much about the drug Abilify? I have been taking the lexapro for a few weeks, and not sure that it is the right drug for me. About four days after I started taking it I felt really stranged, confused, depressed. I started the med for anxiety/panic. Not feeling as bad now, but still alittle down. I took lexapro a year ago for just about a month, but did not have this side affect. The dr said we could either change antidepressants of try taking .5 of the lexapro and 2.

I needed a medication for severe depression. My Dr. put me on 20mg of Lexapro. I am now taking 5mg of Abilify to help the boost the Lexapro. I didn't notice the restlessness/anxiety until a month on the Lexapro. Anyone else have this side effect?

I have been taking the lexapro for almost 2 weeks now for anxiety/panic. After 4 days of just half a dose (5mg) I felt really strange and depressed. Alittle better now, but still down more so then before the lexapro. Is this something that goes away once you're on the med for awhile? I already had severe anxiety with panic, I don't want to add deppression on because of the meds, if this is the case. Now the dr. wants me to try the 5 mg of lexapro and 2.

I've been on abilify and lexapro for bipolar depression and I have random twitches all over my body. Plus it's not helping with the depression. The mood swings have gotten better but even Getting out of bed is hard. Like a heavy weight dragging me down. Any suggestions on what to do?

I am now on 20 mg of lexapro and 5 mg of abilify. The abilify has not kicked in yet, I really do not get a lot of sleep maybe 5 hours at the most as you see what time it is. I was hoping I would feel alot better while taking Lexapro & Abilify. It has been 2 months. I don't feel terrible I just don't have any confidence. I suppose it takes alot more time? I'm trying meditation. Any other suggestions?

Hi. I am currently taking Lexapro 10 mg and have been for the last year. I thought it was working good up till 2 months ago. My sex drive has decreased a big amount, i have these migraines that keep getting worst, i'm getting very forgetful (i'm 27), cloudiness in my head that won't go away. I just saw my doc today and he suggested i go on Abilify also. But when i went to the pharmacist he told me it would be $40 a month for the script. I can not afford that.

my doc suggested Abilify to add. I had already put on 30lbs from lexapro, which is part of becoming depressed again. I have been on the Abilify for 6days now & can tell it is having a positive impact on me. I have had enough motivation to work out the past two days & I am really watching what I'm eating. Has anyone here had success with losing weight on Abilify & prozac? I really cannot afford to put on more weight & feel worse about myself.

Reason I ask is simply because to take a patient from Lexapro 30mgs with Abilify and switch them to Welbutrin and Seroquel is kind of an odd change. Welbutrin can be a good add on antidepressant to SSRI's and SNRI's, but is not so effective as a solo antidepressant in most cases. Seroquel is really nothing more than just an altered seditive and will do little for depression. Welbutrin is just a Dopamine Reuptake Inhibitor.

I have been on Lexapro for several years and i just stopped taking it for about a month because I couldn't afford to buy it. Then I started it again and its been 4 weeks and all of a sudden I am feeling very depressed and I am not able to eat and worry about everything. Is this happening because I just stopped then started the medication?

I have a borderline personality disorder, but I'm not bipolar (as far as I know) and I'm taking Seroquel (don't know why) and Lexapro (for anxiaty & depression). I've read Seroquel is for bipolar, maniac depression and schizofrenia but I'm not sure which of this three aplies in my case. I cut myself, have burned, starve, binge, make myself throw up, have anxiaty atacks and I am generally depressed.....

First, Pristiq isn't novel, it's just Effexor with part of it cut off, as was done with Celexa/Lexapro. Some will say it's just a way to get another drug on patent, but since people do have very different reactions to Celexa vs. Lexapro, there probably are differences here, too. Second, Cymbalta isn't an ssri, it's an snri like Pristiq. Third, snris can be very stimulating because they target norepinephrine.

I was told to switch from 150 mg Zoloft to 20 mg of lexapro and I am also taking 5 mg of abilify. I am SO WORRIED the lexapro will make e dizzy. Please anyone have insight in this. Please help. I am freaking out and so worried.

This is provided Abilify helps you, if not, I would see about switching too. Geodon is in the family with Abilify and it works fast too, like within a couple weeks. Just a suggestion. Cymbalta was another one that helped my panic attacks, I went on that after being on Prozac for 8 or 9 years. It works faster than Prozac but slower than celexa & lexapro.

I believe Abilify is similar to Lamictal, which I take along with Lexapro. At first I felt better except for extreme upset stomach which went away after a week or two. I also had extreme insomnia which lasted about 4 weeks -- I was tossing and turning all night, got about 2 or 3 hrs of sleep if I was lucky, so bad I was actually afraid to go to bed at night. My psych doc told me to hang in there, as my body adjusted it would get better.

Finally, after the second DUI which I was also charged with a felony for pinching a police officers butt, I decided maybe I should stop taking the Lexapro b/c I seemed to have developed some obsession with alcohol and I could see I was also becoming delusional. So, while in jail, I requested no more medication for 1 week and was able to fully withdraw from Lexapro, although the depression side effects of the withdrawal lasted about three months.

Most anti-depressants tend to "poop out" after a few years in about half of those that take them. This is in part due to the brain finding a work-around on the medication so other steps are taken to get the depression/anxiety back in check. This problem is commonly fixed by adding medications such as Abilify to the original anti-depressant. Personally, I would not add these type of meds to Paxil unless you have not had any weight gain issues during your time on in.

I have been on Lexapro 20 mg/day to treat anxietal depression for about 2 years. While it seemed to work quite well for this time, over the past few months I have noticed an emerging pattern of mood swings, easily frustrated by insignificant issues and, at times, the observation that I would not be missed if I was gone. I do not have suicidal thoughts or planning. I had been attributing this to not being able to relax at anything and the stress of daily life.

I did have some difficulty on Abilify with it being activating (that is causing difficulty sleeping, unlike other antipsychotics which are often sedating) and this is not uncommon but each person responds differently to each medication and many people I know have found it to be of help as well.

Need input on coming off depakote. Currently taking 750 mg x 3 daily. I USED to have seizures due to a stroke, but I have been seizure free for a year. I am on 30 mg of abilify & 200 mg of lamictal.
