Avatar n tn It is unlikely that such efforts would reduce the chance of transmission of infection. Typically topical medications for systemic disease are less effective than systemic medication. 3. Unlikely. The effect of topical steroids is local. Antibody production is systemic. 4. Once a person has HSV (1 or 2) at one body site, it is most unusual for the infection to be spread to other body sites. When it happens, it almost always happens during the first episode of infection. 5. See above.
630177 tn?1231545490 I have been experiencing extreme vaginal discomfort now for over three months with no discharge. I've used monistat a couple times with no result. I went to the doctor multiple times and this last time I told her to do a COMPLETE std scan on me. She tested for any and all STD's and all came back negative (thank God). Also, at that time I did have discharge so she tested it and said it looked like a yeast infection.
Avatar f tn skin, vaginal or systemic? Only systemic or fungal infection in blood can lower your blood pressure. Skin and vaginal yeast infection is cured by local application of antifungal creams (separate for skin and vagina) and systemic infection is cured by oral tablets. You may need to take the tablets for skin and vaginal infection too. Dehydration, certain medications, heart problems, untreated diabetes, and nervous system disorders can all cause hypotension or low blood pressure.
Avatar m tn https://news.usc.edu/99456/mothers-hepatitis-b-supports-chronic-infection-in-children-study-finds/ Chronic hepatitis B infection, a lifetime disease with no effective cure, could one day be cleared from a person’s system with a series of shots, according to a new USC study. Most healthy adults infected with HBV will develop protective immunity, healing their own bodies within a few months. But children who acquired the virus from their mothers are unable to scrub HBV from their systems.
Avatar m tn I have a question about fungal infection. I have had blood test which did not grow and yeast or mold. Wouild that rule out systemic candidiasis. I am having wierd muscle twitching and spasms throughout whole body. I was wondering if a specific candidiasis test would be better. That is putting the cart before the horse, but I have tested now 5 months by EIA and 5 1/2 months by ICMA for HIV. I am scared I may be a false negative.
Avatar m tn Pylori Symptoms If HCl does not take care of the acid symptoms, you may have a heliobacter pylori infection. Gnawing or burning symptoms can be indicative of an h. pylori infection. This pain tends to be located centrally, just below the rib cage.
Avatar f tn You should ask your GP about the possibility of a systemic fungal/yeast infection, and ask them who to see. You may be able to take care of most of it with a single course of oral antifungals. Unfortunately, the only thing that actually works for toe fungus is the oral antifungals. There is a slight risk of liver damage, but the doctor should take baseline labs before starting so you'll know if anything's going wrong, and the course is 3 months.
Avatar m tn You may want to see an ENT or have a family practise look at the sinues and ears. There may be a ear infection or a sinus infection. If not they may try to drain the sinus with anti histamines.
Avatar f tn She is currently hospitalised with a chronic foot infection, having severed her flexor (?) tendon a year ago. Two repair attempts failed and she has had ongoing infections in that foot for the last 9 months. She is generally very fit and healthy and was a keen athlete. The only childhood illness that she's had is Chickenpox. To date blood tests have not identified any underlaying causes of the infection.
Avatar f tn Courtesy of Aaron Massey Myles Massey of Kenmore, Wash., developed a systemic Bacillus cereus infection that damaged portions of his brain after his birth in 2007, doctors said. Myles’ twin brother, Henry, is an active, talkative preschooler. No source of the bacteria was ever found, despite repeated tests by hospital staff and local and state health officials, and advice from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Avatar n tn A yeast infection is an overabundance of bacteria growth. I am not sure exactly why or how some people get it but it is not an STD and children can have it as well. For me it is like anything that goes near my vagina sets off a yeast infection. Have you seen your doctor about this? Have you had one before?
Avatar f tn t believe people can have a low level systemic Candidas infection and present with symptoms. Natural medicine disagrees. Natural medicine approaches the issue by getting to the source of the problem. My friends husband had systemic Candidas and their naturopath had him on a restrictive diet to starve the yeast. He hated it, but the diet worked. There are herbs that can be used, too, but they really won't be effective without the right diet involved.
Avatar m tn Artificial tears are recommended throughout the treatment with isotretionoin as first line of prevention of infection. Dry eyes and other eyes-related side effects rarely persist after discontinuation of therapy. Possibility of developing longer lasting ophthalmic (eye) problems has to be estimated by an ophthalmologist and will affect decision about further treatment with systemic retinoids. FYI - Systemic retinoids (such as isotretinoin) should not be first line of acne therapy.
Avatar m tn - Would the chronic productive cough and recurrences of blocked nose that leads to shortness of breath be of matter of great concern such as systemic candidiasis or maybe Candida tracheobronchitis? - Do you think I should start treatment with ketoconazole tab? or stick to this nystatin drops?
Avatar f tn Vaginal application of miconazole would have little systemic absorption and is unlikely to affect the BCP. Even with systemic absorption, it acts an enzyme inhibitor and would rather potentiate its action. Hope this information helps. Take care!
Avatar n tn Not that I am aware of,however about 6 months after I was diagnosed with HSV2 I developed Rheumatoid Arthritis which is an Autoimmune Disease I believe can be triggered by infection or a virus,it may have been coincidental it may not but I guess thats something I'll never know for sure ......
Avatar m tn I have had a yeast infection every month for the past 26 years !!!! Please help me !!!! I have been to specialists , gyno, no one knows what's going on !!!!
2024985 tn?1328846203 I suggest you keep a permanently bound notebook to record attacks and medication. Often for four to eight weeks after pneumonia or a lung infection the airways become "twitchy" and you should reasonably use either oral steroids or an inhaled steroid, every day. In such a case the drill is daily use of a preventative steroid.
20853006 tn?1547666489 Would a person get a blood test to check for systemic candidiasis? Would yeast show up in urine if you had systemic candidiasis? I am just asking a few simple questions, so please do not attack me.
Avatar n tn Candida is hard to treat if it becomes systemic, and it becomes systemic usually because of overuse of antibiotics and steroidal medicines. The little fungi are attracted to sugar and dairy and a weakened immune system. It's easier to spot in women, for obvious reasons. Let's assume it hasn't really become systemic -- if it had you would be suffering fatigue and other things, and doctors can detect that.
Avatar m tn teak, It seems FDA approved truvada as prevention hiv infection before sexual activities. Is it true? How about condoms? sorry bother you but it is a doubt.
Avatar m tn She also sat on my other leg which has some scratches (where if i apply rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer it burns so i assume it is sort of sort of open and capable of getting infection) with her panties on and was rubbing, is that a risk? Both this happened with the same dancer but I am worried about her finger which she put in her anus touching my open wound. Am I at risk and do i need testing? I am Very worried as i read that HIV can be transmitted via open wounds. Thank you Doctor.
Avatar f tn A systemic infection is inside your body so no- I do not have a skin infection. I had a low grade fever for 15 years. I would be the rare case of a working immune system so NONE of the symptoms show as they do normally- In our area no Infectious Disease Doctor will not see you without documentation first of what you have. Evidence I currently have is thrush that has been in my mouth for 3 years and toe nail fungus since 1998. Main symptoms present like many other things...
Avatar f tn And oral sex is basically safe sex -- completely safe with respect to HIV and although not zero risk for other STDs, the chance of infection is far lower than for unprotected vaginal or anal sex. Please educate yourself about the real risks. If you stick with oral sex and condom-protected vaginal or anal sex, you have no HIV worries and very little worry about other STDs.
