synthroid

87651 tn?1259602403 He said because the T3 in Armour is very fast acting and letting my body have a break in the 5 days will be an easier transition to the Armour. He said if I go from Synthroid to Armour I could get extremely hyper. Sound about right?
665125 tn?1273023924 So I have been on Synthroid for 3 years now. I recently had a complete Thyroidectomy and a Parathyroidectomy, is Synthroid the thyroid hormone supplement I should take, or natural? Has anyone had better results from Natural vs. Synthetic in regard to symthoms of being Hypothyroid?
Avatar f tn I have no idea about all the ins and outs of Synthroid vs. Armour. I know that people sometimes have better results with one and then sometimes the other. In my case I found that even though taking a large dose of Synthroid (200mcg), I never became symptom free because my body was not converting T4 very well. When my doctor confirmed this by checking free T3, she decided to change my meds to a T4/T3 combination. I started feeling better very shortly thereafter.
Avatar n tn Of course you know that Synthroid is T4 and Armour is a mix of T4 and T3 in a ratio of abut 4.2 to one. Whether this is the only reason for Armour being sometimes more effective is a long discussion. Taking a med that contains T3, you can expect an increase in the levels of total T3 and also free T3 in your blood. Since free T3 is the most active thyroid hormone, it largely regulates metabolism and other symptoms.
Avatar n tn I think you are confusing Synthroid with Armour. Synthroid is a synthetic T4 medication, as is levothyroxine. The difference is the fillers and the price. As far as consistency, all the thyroid medications have had some issues. I am on Armour and I have been on the same dose for almost 5 years, so for me it is very consistent. Each of us do better on one medication over the other. There's no one medication for all.
519035 tn?1348275773 But for those of you still suffering on synthroid. I believe you need to try something else, even if its not armour. I have only been on armour for 6 days now, and noticed a huge difference. I am still not on the correct dose, that takes time I understand. But as far as energy, and mood swings this one has helped me out. I still swing because I am not in my correct levels, but my mood and energy have definately improved. I am listening to whatever I have to do to get better.
Avatar n tn I too have Hashi my AntiAB is 3179 and I have been on all the synthetic drugs- Levo - Synthroid/Cytomel, etc... I did not find any relief until I started taking Armour. This is not to say it will work for everyone! but I wanted to make sure you understood that takingArmour did not create your antibodies- your body did. Hope this helped... We're in this all together........
Avatar f tn What would be the determining factor for prescribing armour thyroid vs synthroid (and maybe cytomel)? I appreciate your help very much. It seems like it has taken forever to get the right dosage and help.
Avatar f tn Sme say its a combo of pig, cow and a few other animals, LOL. 3) It is too hard to fine tune the dose because it comes in grains vs mcgs, so synthroid is easier to prescribe. From what I read here on the message boards, I don't see any proof that synthroid, or generic levoxthyroxine is any better at regulating thyroid problems. Seems pretty touchy either way you go.....but as you know, it's just an opinion that is typically disputed according to your own experience.
410801 tn?1220119445 Hi, i have been reading so much on Synthroid VS Armour, and i am tempting to switch to Armour myself.. before making that decision, I wonder, how many of us, who are on Synthroid, and are happy. we probably heard more negative feedbacks, and there might be plenty of us are happy with Synthroid?
596383 tn?1219606396 hi, the simply put, the frees show how your body is responding to the medicine. I wouldn't worry about "piggy" hormones unless you are a vegetarian. Armour or synthroid really has to be a personal preference. Synthroid caused to many complications for me. If you do decide to go to armour, I would advice you to titrate up. It will give your body a chance to adjust to the T3 and also to split your dose in to at least 2.
937837 tn?1285350385 What do you think is better? I am currenty on Synthroid, but I have discovered it contains Lactose, and I have been mildly lactose intolerante for years now. Most of the synthetic brands have lactose, so I think I might go to natural.
Avatar f tn I was on 75mcg of synthroid and was put on 60mgs of armour to start.....I am now on 75mgs of armour. I had gone a little hypo though. What were your latest test numbers? Did your dr run your Free T3 as well? Do you have hashi's?
Avatar m tn has suggested that I begin taking Synthroid and I am scared that my symptoms may return. I am taking 90mg of Armour and my prescription is for 150mcg of Synthroid. If I have no choice and must change, how do you suggest I make the change.
