Synthroid for fertility

Common Questions and Answers about Synthroid for fertility

synthroid

Avatar f tn i have hashimoto's disease (hypothyroidism) and am on synthroid. This was diagnosed in November. I still have not been able to conceive but who knows if it's from the hypothyroid issues because my #'s are fine now. What is your TSH? If it's super high and synthroid helps then it is possible that is your issue. My #'s were never really very high but i had awful symptoms....
1634959 tn?1308410002 To gimel, Thank you so much for your response. I just had some lab work done and I am requesting them to send a copy to my home so it may take a while. As soon as I get them I will post them. I had been off synthroid for about 7 weeks as an "experiment" When I got the results back all the doctor told me was that I really needed my meds. She said just looking at the results made her exhausted but failed to elaborate.
Avatar n tn I am on 112mg synthroid and the highest I've been on is 139mg. My thyroid has been going up and down for a while. I went off of birth control about 1 year to the day and I am pretty sure that being off that has made my thyroid way off. In december I though I may be pregnant because I didn't get my period. In March I finally got my thyroid set so I was ready to get on clomid, 50mg. They put me on progestrone to get my period.
Avatar f tn However, over the last year, I have tried to get pregnant, without success. I am taking synthroid and my T count is 1.5. I am seeing a fertility specialist. They have ran tests and I am ovulating. I do not see the discharge that I saw prior to my thyroid getting out of control over the last year. I always saw the discharge during ovulation. Is there a connection? Both my thyroid and fertility doctor, didn't see a connection. I debating of trying IUI. Any suggestions or comments?
Avatar f tn I am a 36 y/o female with no history of fertility issues (am overweight). I have had two healthy children and trying for third. I have suffered two consecutive miscarriages and the only difference between then and now (4 years since birth of second child) is I am taking 112 mcg Synthroid. My most recent blood tests shows: TSH - .147, T4 - 11.9, and T3 - 124. Could the TSH be the cause of my pregnancy losses? Thank you.
183933 tn?1290216962 estrogen, such as occurs during pregnancy, elevates levels of these binding hormones, so once you get pregnant, you should have TSH monitored closely to determine whether the synthroid dose needs to be increased. taking fertility medications also elevates estrogen, though to a much lesser extent and for a shorter time, so this typically is not a problem during the treatment phase.
Avatar n tn Thank You for your advice. Would my synthroid need to be adjusted alot during pregnancy? I am on 150 mcg now. And does that dose stay the same will trying to concieve?
Avatar f tn 0 range) is important and for pregnancy related situations, we usually prefer a brand (Synthroid, Levoxyl, Tirosint, etc) over generic. The chances for a successful pregnancy are excellent from a thyroid standpoint.
Avatar f tn When I was 25, I had been off my 0.05 mg of synthroid and had accidentally gotten preggs. I thought for SURE I'd miscarry a 3rd time but that lil' girl held on and I was on my meds during my pregnancy. No problems whatsoever with pregnancy and birth, however, I wonder if her being recently diagnosed Type1 Diabetic had anything 2 do with it, b/c I read somewhere there's a link.
1105753 tn?1374287348 I am 41 with a FSH of 15 (10 or under is good for fertility) I just started getting acupunture for this to help with trying to conceive. I just wonder if the person I have been going to will help or what to look for. He is certified and he says he can help but how do I know he is using the right points during my cycle. Can you give me any advice or things to watch for? Have you had any success in this area? Thank you.
1129232 tn?1360800358 Do any of you have or have knowledge of how thryoid and ANA antibodies can affect fertility? I have one son who is almost 2 1/2 years old (got pregnant 3 mos after trying with him and had an uneventful/normal pregnancy). When my son turned 1, we decided we wanted to get pregnant again since i was almost 37 years old. 1 year and 1/2 later, I'm still not pregnant. My obgyn couldn't figure it out and decided we do laproscopic surgery.
Avatar f tn I got my complete thyroid removed and I am taking synthroid for hormone replacement but i haven't had my menstral cycle in seven years. does this mean i'm in menopause and cannot get pregnant.
Avatar m tn Is it standard procedure to use Synthroid on normal TSH, + or - hyper/hypo levels. What is considered normal ranges for prescribing synthroid for an enlarged thyroid.
Avatar n tn Once you get your thyroid levels back on track then conceiving may be easier. Thyroid problems can sometimes cause you to not ovulate or can cause early miscarriage, it all depends on your levels and what type of thyroid issue you have. Your doctor should be monitoring your levels monthly and will decide whether or not you need treatment to help your levels balance out.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Synthroid since then, which initially took care of the goiter. I tried for years to conceive and my levels were considered normal: jumping between 1 - 5. I never conceived, and my first marriage ended. I was recently tested for perimenopause because I've had menopausal symptoms (night sweats, etc.). I was taking Cytomel, but my endocrinologist said I didn't need to take it anymore and told me to stop taking it right away.
995934 tn?1249619651 i conceived our first baby the first month we started trying so no problems with conception while on synthroid. at that point i was on synthroid for about a year. had the baby fine and all, she's now 4. now preggo w/baby #2 and took about 3 months to conceive this time around, dont know why took so long. was starting to get worried so got ovulation kit which may have helped get preggo. one other note, once u do get pregnant, make sure u get ur levels tested as soon as u found out.
505857 tn?1329681517 I was put on Synthroid to control which I take daily, and my Doctor told me not to ttc for three months so he could make sure that my levels reaturned to normal. Once you are at a healthy level you will be fine to ttc. Your body will let you know. After we got the "green light" from teh Doctor it still took us 3 more months to get pregnant. Now I am 10 weeks along, so I probably would wait to ttc until you have your doctor's ok.
474314 tn?1219345522 I am scared to death and second guessing everything. I want to have kids but my endo. and fertility specialist won't allow me until it's out. I hope I am doing the right thing? I hope I don't gain more weight and I hope that I take to the Synthroid quickly. Please keep me in your thoughts and send positve energy my way.
Avatar f tn Took a Hpt too but was always negative. Last month I learned that my TSH is 6. Is this the cause for all this? I have always been a regular in case of monthly periods. I Appreciate your answer. Thank u.
Avatar n tn I have seen three endocrynologists and they are at a loss on how to treat this other than synthroid, which I have been on for 3 years and has done nothing to improve my numbers. Any advice would be helpful.
Avatar f tn I am pretty much asymptomatic at this point, and would be unconcerned about the TSH, except that absolutely everything I have read about fertility and thyroid issues says that the optimal TSH level for conception is between 1.0 and 2.0. I am wondering if those who give this "optimal level" are assuming a better correlation between TSH and thyroid hormones - that is, is 1.0-2.0 stated because of an assumption that anything over 2.
Avatar n tn I had to be off my Synthroid for five weeks before I took the RAI pill. Most doctors say six weeks, but I was ready at five weeks and sick enough the doctor did not want to wait another week. Two weeks is not enough. It takes six weeks to get Synthroid completely out of your system. The RAI may work after a month with no Synthroid, but two weeks is certainly not "standard procedure". I would make further inquiries.
Avatar n tn Entered the hypo phase 3 months ago. I have been on 50mcg Synthroid for 2 months now. My TSH is now normal. My question is becuase I do not have the Hashimotos thyroiditis should I still be taking synthroid? Is it bad to be on the Synthroid if I do not need it? What is the typical length of time someone with subacute thyroiditis should be on Synthroid? Will the being on Synthroid possibly prevent me from every making my own thyroid hormone again? Thank you for your time.
Avatar f tn I am recently diagnoised with hypo-been taking 100 synthroid for almost a month. I work out 5 days a week I was wondering if anyone has taken cytomel along with synthroid? If so has it helped in weight loss? I work out so very hard and go to the gym twice a day, The doctor says until my metabolism and thyroid get on track my weight won't change. I have been doing some research on cytomel and am thinking of asking my Dr. if I can try it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Avatar m tn I took early morning bloodwork (only 1.5 hours after taking 100mcg synthroid) and my TSH 3rd generation came up as .08 miu/L . Is this too low? Is it low because I had just recently taken my pill? Can I still get pregnant with levels this low? This diagnosis has really thrown me. I want to have a second baby and before I was diagnosed, my fertility doctor discovered relatively high tsh level. This is when I decided to go to an endocrinologist.
Avatar f tn I had a thyroidectomy 6 years ago and was on Synthroid for a long time before and after that. Switched to Armour at my request. For 2 years now, debilitating body aches, fatigue, etc This discussion is related to Post Thyroidectomy.
Avatar f tn My husband and I are starting the process of fertility treatments and we knew that he had an issue because he had cancer. The fertility clinic is also testing me for everything as we and everything is testing well except that on my 3 days after my period bloodwork they did a non fasting tsh and prolactin level test which came out very elevated. My TSH was 5.7 and I don't know the prolactin number but it was high too.
