Common Questions and Answers about Synthroid blood sugar

synthroid

646105 tn?1223653476 When I reduced the dosage by a third my blood pressure reduced a bit and my blood sugar returned to normal, but I still had heart palps...after three months. They switched me Synthroid which also produces high blood pressure and a rash. We are currently attempting to wean me off Synthroid and I want to try KELP (iodine) and after a bit introduce L-tyrosine which promotes the production of T3 while the iodine is more T4 related.
Avatar f tn m fearful of developing diabetes. Is the synthroid causing my blood sugar to rise? If so, how can I keep from developing diabetes? I'm not overweight (5'2", 111 lbs) and have exercised my entire life. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I have Hashi's/Hypo and have been taking Synthroid for 7 months. I noticed over the past few weeks that I feel absolutely terrible after I eat. I don't usually eat breakfast so I eat my lunch around 11 am. After I eat, I get dizzy, lightheaded and extremely tired. I have been putting my head down at work for about 30 minutes everyday and normally I doze off hard for at least 10 minutes. Could this have something to do with my sugar levels? I feel fine in the morning when I wake up.
878888 tn?1319634044 She gave me samples of Synthroid 112 mcg as she said thyroid was extremely high and ordered an a1c test as blood sugar has been slightly elevated for last six year (never high enough to be actual diabetes) was told I was insulin resistant when it first started. So nurse calls me back and tells me to keep taking synthroid and doctor strongly recommend I do the low blood sugar diet and lose weight as levels were slightly high.
Avatar f tn I have a specialist who does want me to take metaformin with my synthroid. However, my blood sure isnt high so when she gave it to me my blood sugar dropped to 2.5 and my immune system crash completely. I kept on getting sick and such. Therefore, unless you really need it and the doc can prove 100% that you will benifit from it I wouldnt take it.
Avatar m tn If you have diabetes or higher than normal blood sugar levels, you should carefully check your blood sugar levels, especially during the first few months of NIASPAN and during any change in your dose. Report any changes in your blood sugar levels to your health care professional. Hypothyroid (high TSH) has a huge effect on cholesterol levels. When your TSH gets back to normal your triglicerides should improve also. You could also ask for an A1C blood test.
929504 tn?1332585934 I have just checked the ingredients that are in "Sythroid" and the reason being is this: Since my TT, I have had higher than normal "blood sugar" levels and also higher than normal "blood pressure levels" I purchased a blood glucose unit so that i can keep track of my levels. Normally I will take my levels right after taking my Synthroid pill and my levels are always inbetween 114-130...
Avatar m tn s thyroiditis 10 years ago and take synthroid. I do not currently have TPO antibodies in my blood. I also have persistent low ferritin. I have extremely low energy, frequent blood sugar drop outs and have tried alternative medicine, supplements and dietary approaches including the autoimmune paleo diet with no success. I am very physically active and practice meditation and yoga regularly. Can you suggest other interventions.
Avatar f tn At my last appointment (for blood work for blood sugar, etc.) I told him that since I have lost a little over 100 pounds in the past two years all of the other prescriptions I used to have to take (a total of 5) have been eliminated. And I really don't know if I truly still need Synthroid or not. He knows I want to get off of whatever I no longer need and he did not say "don't do it". I guess I'll just give it a try.
Avatar f tn %HGB A1C is a test for blood sugar levels. It shows kind of an average over the last 3 months. The finger ***** check is what your sugar level is at the time of the stick.
Avatar f tn Until I had a severe panic attack and later that night passed out from low blood sugar. I was afraid that the medicine had caused me to have a more severe panic attack than I was used to (as I am anxiety prone) and I simply couldn't take the medication any longer. I noticed the pills seemed to have diminished my appetite. However, my TSH levels are 25 and my doctor is insisting that I take the Synthroid they've now prescribed for me. Trouble is, I'm really scared.

Avatar n tn I was dx with hypothyroidism in Jun 08 and am also on synthroid (currently 75 mcg). I have a problem at times with low blood sugar (weak, shaky, nauseated, etc) and I also had symptoms of some high blood sugar. I have been thinking I might have a problem with insulin resistance because of weight that I haven't been able to get rid of. I bought a glucometer and I was right - my blood sugar levels have been bouncing all over the scales with no real rhym or reason.
Avatar f tn I have taken synthroid 50mg for the last five months I have gained thirty pounds. I originally went to the doctor for weight gain and my daughter had Hashimotos and I knew I had pcod. I am 5'2 and 219 lbs I am on a roller coaster I am fatter than ever. The doctor said I had Diabetes two but gave no medication and I my sugar is about between 90 and 100 when I wake I eat a bowl of cereal it goes to 140.
Avatar f tn Gluten, peanuts, artificial sweeteners, regular milk (use almond milk) (I have also found a local dairy/farm that carries fresh goats milk and cows milk, so we are giving the goats milk a try which is high in protein and tast great with no hormones or preservatives) and sugar are avoided as much as possible (fungal and blood sugar issues with these). Eat REAL food with high protein as much as possible.
793305 tn?1493925518 I did. I have lost 18 lbs since I saw my dr. And a total of 38 lbs as I had already started on my own to lose weight. I think the increase dose of Synthroid upped my blood sugar. I need to talk to my endo too. She doesn't know about the weight loss yet. It's been just over 2 weeks since I quit taking my metformin. The stinging skin is almost gone. What a horrible thing. I'd that's what happens with fibermyalgia people, they have my sympathy.
1013254 tn?1337900972 I had bloodwork this past week and my TSH level is 10. My Chlor, Trys and sugar levels are all high and can't get my sugar below 200. My endo has me on 300mcgs of Synthroid. I got the call late and wasn't able to call my doc office in time to see what I should do, if anything. I put a call into their afterhours service but didn't get a call back. It's the weekend and I'm a little concerned....any suggestions? 2008 Papillary Thyroid Cancer-Stage 4 2012 History of Pap. Thy.
Avatar f tn I've been taking synthroid for mild hypothyroidism, here are my initial labs from late April at diagnosis prior to synthroid: TSH 3.17 Free T4 1.0 (0.8 to 1.8) Free T3 3.2 (2.3 to 4.2) Here are my labs in early June after my a few weeks of 50 mcg synthroid: TSH 1.22 Free T4 1.2 (0.8 to 1.8) Free T3 2.7 (2.3 to 4.
Avatar n tn i am 70. my thyroid was remoned 12 yrs ago. i am on sythroid 0.125mg. my hair is hard. can't sleep heart fluttering and shortness of breath.
Avatar m tn That is what I mean by normal labs. I did have slightly elevated blood sugar, but not very high. For the person who said it may be insulin did you have very high blood sugar?
932739 tn?1244566772 Everything was fine with my labs except my glucose was a little high (109) so I cut out sugar, but yesterday for late lunch I had an italian ice that was full of sugar. I probably shocked my body as I have cut out all sugar for 2 months now, but I am losing so much weight it worries me, so I'm trying to take in more calories. Would sugar cause fainting? Diabetes runs in my family. No change in meds. I take synthroid 75mcg every morning same time.

Avatar f tn But this morning I got really lightheaded and a headache all of a sudden(which I know is normal in pregnancy) but I checked my blood pressure again to see if that was it, and it was perfect. So I checked my blood sugar and it was 79, I had just had a fruit smoothie. The medical assistant at work told me it was low, and then another told me it was slightly low. My question is does anyone know what it should be? I go to the Dr tomorrow so I will ask him, but I'm just curious.

Avatar f tn Anything with carbs is going to spike your blood sugar. If your trying to stabilize blood sugar, I would recommend eating lots of protein and vegetables. As for carbs, choose the healthy carbs or brown rice and more slow digesting carbs. That way your blood sugar won't rise as high or fast. I'm type 1 diabetic and pregnant, so u have been testing blood sugar like crazy for a good amount of my life.
