Synthroid and trazadone

Common Questions and Answers about Synthroid and trazadone

synthroid

Avatar n tn besides Synthroid--Hydrochlorothiazide and Trazadone 50 mg. at night for sleep. The other change in my life was my 20 year old son possibly having sudden cardiac death, collapsing during marathon. After a month of cardiac studies , including three days in the CCU, his Dx was a rare form of heat exhaustion and severe dehydration.
458072 tn?1291415186 After reading all the posts on this thyroid forum, I really believe now that my feeling of well-being returned because of the synthroid and not so much the lexapro. I believe that the anxiety was not from GAD like my doctor thought, but from being hypothyroid. BTW, I was against taking anti-anxiety meds and it wasn't until my symptoms got really bad that I gave in and agreed to try a low dose.
484508 tn?1290010544 addendum---I was also prescribed Trazadone for sleep. And it just occured to me that I started to feel dizzy in the am after I took a Trazodone 50 mg. Perhaps the Trazadone is the dizziness culprit and not the Celexa.....
Avatar m tn I started with a quarter of the trazadone .25 and quickly went all the way up to 200. And still it was a coin toss if I was going to sleep or not. So I went down to 100mg of trazadone and .5 alprazolam. Some days I sleep ok and others I don't. My anxiety isn't as bad as it was but I still struggle with it everyday. I think the trazadone has helped a little with this as my dr said it is a mild antidepressant.
Avatar n tn t been helping? Is trazadone safe to take for depression and sleep problems along with my Apnea treatment. I know trazadone can help with sleep, but I fear it might be bad for the atriel fibrillation.
Avatar n tn You may be correct that Trazadone is the culprit here..or it may be something else, and certainly a good thorough workup by your doctor is indicated. When you start changing sleep medications you start sleeping problems, which can cause their own symptoms. The simplest way to deal with this dilemma is to start lowering the dose a little bit every couple days and see what happens before you, he, and his doctor decide about stopping or switching to a new medication.
Avatar f tn Trazadone is an SARI antidepressant.. It is sedating and thus frequently prescribed for sleep for those who have insomnia with anxiety/depression. You can take during the day but it is sedating and you should use with care until you know it's daytime effects. Let me know how you make out if you decide to use it. Has your neurologist ever recommended neurontin or lyrica?
Avatar f tn Hi xan, Nice to see your response. Hey, I'm just getting off to get off. I've been on it so long no one can remember why I'm on it. I think it was just for sleep anyway and I don't sleep anymore. It puts me to sleep, but I wake up anyway after an hour or so and can't sleep, so why stay on it? I went from 150 mg to 100 mg to 50 mg yesterday. Last night I couldnt' sleep, but no worse than without it. Think I'll stay on it a few days more and then stop it.
Avatar m tn There was some talk about sleep aids in a recent post. I am not sure how many of you are familiar with, or are looking for a non habit forming sleep aid. My doctor put me on a drug called Trazadone when I was going through Sub W/D's. It is actually an anti depressant and one of the side effects is it knocks you out. So it is a tremendous sleep aid, especially when you are suffering from chronic RLS and other annoying side effects of withdrawals.
Avatar f tn Just finished researching Trazadone as my hubby's dr just prescribed it two days ago. It is an antidepressant but also used ALOT for sleep. Not just the GETTING to sleep, but the STAYING asleep. My hubby is not an addict; he's tried everything in the book natural and sleep aide wise and still doesn't sleep more than 4 hrs consecutively. He has had sleep apnea test, etc. Bottom line is he can go to sleep.... just doesn't stay there longer than 4 hrs. NOT good.
Avatar n tn Trazadone is not addictive. It is actually an anti depressant. One of the side effects is extreme drowsiness, and more or less puts you to sleep. So doctors use this side effect to prescribe it as a sleep aid in some cases. The fact it is non habit forming, meaning you can stop at any time and have no withdrawals is a big plus.
453029 tn?1205951419 i was prescribed trazadone for depression/ sleep aid althoughit works great for sleeping i dont findmymood elevated at all any suggestions?
2065212 tn?1334584906 So I talked to my Doctor after a little convincing from my mom after I told her what I was going through. He prescribed me Trazadone to help with my sleeping and rls at night. Now, I'm on Klonopin (which I hate, but will deal with that monster when I defeat this one) because of a genetic Anxiety Disorder and take one 1mg pill in the morning and, if needed, at the MOST 1/4 pill at night around 5 or 6.
Avatar f tn I hope I don't get in trouble by saying this but I really don't think Trazadone should be taken for mild depression. I think an SSRI is much safer and since you're going to be taking Zoloft why not start with that and if needed up the dose. I know that Trazadone has been intensely marketed but it's not even indicated for mild/moderate depression. It's been know to cause hepatotoxicity. I urge you to google it before even thinking about taking it.
Avatar m tn s been just about 3 weeks with nothing, but Half a dose Effexor XR and my xanax and yesterday I went to walmart and was able to get trazadone for $4.00. I really want to switch from Effexor Xr to Zoloft at Wall-Mart they said Sam's Club has Zoloft for $19.00. I just don't know, do I just stop taking the Effexor Xr and start taking the Zoloft or do I need to taper the Effex Xr and the start the Zoloft??
Avatar f tn Have you talked with your clients about their prescribed meds and how they feel about them? Seoquel and trazadone are the two most popular meds used in detox and to support continued recovery in rehab. I like you have wondered if to some they don't cause a hinderance in the process when used far beyond the detox period for reasons other than uses as an psychotropic med. But I believe it does have it's place for those dually diagnosed with psychiatric illness.
Avatar f tn It would help me to feel better if I knew that it was rare and about what % of patients taking Vistaril and Trazadone for 7 weeks (Vistaril), to 4 months (Trazadone), get TD or BEB from it. My psychiatric nurse practitioner said that it is not common with those drugs & that she hasn't seen it happen from them in her 38 years of practice. She said it mainly happened from the psychotrophics used long-tem. Would you agree with that?
Avatar f tn I was away for the weekend and forgot to bring my Trazadone with me and my friend suggested I go to a health food shop to see if they had something to help me sleep. I was recommended Magnesium and 5HTP - to be taken together which I started taking a few days ago. Today I started feeling very depressed and couldn't figure out why until I spoke to a friend who said I shouldn't be combing 5HTP and anti-depressants. Is that true?
Avatar f tn hey carrie anne ive been reading all your posts, they are all good, this one caught my eye because of the sleep. wow! look at you! six and a half so early in !!!!!! that is great and im really happy for you. yes, a good night's sleep can make a gigantic difference in outlook. as far as I know, trazadone is not a narcotic and considered 'ok' to take ... at least it is according to the treatment program ive been in.
Avatar f tn I have always had anxiety and panic disorder and have been taking effexor and trazadone for years. they don't seem to be working lately and I never leave the house anymore. I see a new doctor on Thursday and was wondering if there is a medication out there that could help me. My father went thru all of this and he was an alcoholic. Lately I have been getting twitches too, is there a medication for that too? thanks...
Avatar f tn My went to visit my doctor about my anxiety and sleeping issues and he has put me on Cipralex 10mg dosage a day and also prescribed me 50mg of trazodone to be taken at bedtime to help me sleep. Does anyone take these prescriptions? if so could I please get some feedback on them?
Avatar n tn I am sorry but you do "skills training at at a behavioral health clinic"???? Please talk a doctor or do you not have access to a PDR?? Trazadone is a very strong med..... and is addicting............ WAIT, I am not a doctor, so I will just say based on my very limited knowledge ,I very strongly recommend you contact a doc ASAP, as mixing (most) drugs and alcohol is a very dangerous combination and your clinic really should have a clue of how that all works.
