pneumonia

Avatar n tn My son had been diagnosed with pneumonia 4 times in the past four months, as well as bronchiolitis in between. He has been treated with Rocephin, Azithromycin, and Amoxil. He has breathing treatments 4 times a day (pulmicort & xopenex) has had 2 episodes of cyanosis, and been hospitalized for low oxygen satuation, wheezing etc. His pediatrician tells me I shouldn't panic and that he has asthma. He is only 13 mos old!
Avatar f tn but a few weeks back he had a bout of cold and cough which later developed into viral pneumonia and was admitted in a hospital who treated him . He was said to have low levels of oxgen which later improved and he was sent home. but a couple of days later he once again was admiitted to the hospital with the same symptoms but only on a lesser note. His blood oxygen levels during his sleep is continously at 89 to 90. but the hospital insists that he should have atleast 93%.
Avatar f tn then quick onset of death usually only occurs in infants or elderly - or in people who have a weakened immune system. Pneumonia caused by bacteria is more angers than pneumonia caused by a virus, but oftentimes a virus can pave the way foe the bacteria to thrive. However, a bacterial pneumonia usually comes with a fever. There was a famous man named Jim Hensen (who created the Muppets) who died from a bacterial pneumonia.
Avatar m tn I asked my doctor if I could get the pneumonia shot this year since I struggled so much last year with my second bout of Pneumonia. He said I should only get the shot if I am 65 years old or diabetic. I do not want to struggle this year like I did last year. Am I too young? Am I not eligible? Is it a health risk for me to get this shot?
Avatar m tn A few days back I noticed his lower jaw quivering when he was feeding from bottle. It is not continuous, only in the time of relaxing after sucking. It is not seen otherwise. Is this normal. He also shows jerking movements while in sleep.
Avatar f tn She was 86 and admited the same day I was with an infection in her foot that was the consequence of a recent removal of melanoma on that foot (!?). The next day after admission an infectious disease research specialist told her within my earshot that she had suspected MRSA (culture not thru yet) ad would she sign up for double blind study for an alternative to vancomycin.blah,.blah.blah. I confronted him about isolating her and he said we aren't sure..but we will.
Avatar f tn My son had it at 5 months old. We spent 6 days in the hospital. Lots of bugger sucking and breathing treatments and steriods.
Avatar n tn I had pneumonia back at the beginning of this year. I did run fevers with my bout of pneumonia. Probably someone more experienced will answer your question more in detail. Everyone has different symptoms with different illnesses. This was just my experience. Hope I helped you somewhat.
1361044 tn?1277598308 I wrote earlier not knowing if our son has Chairi or not. We took him to the ER last night and after looking at the MRI they said that his herniation which is 5mm couldn't be causing the symptoms of choking and gagging that he has been experiencing the last few days. it doesn't happen a lot but when it does it is noticeable. We are also aware that he has some underdevelopment going on as well. He is only 7 months old. They claimed that a viral infection was causing his crankiness.
454286 tn?1205883067 He was taking Flow Vent 2 x a day and Albuterol inhaler 4x a day during a flare up. The kicker in all this is it all started in July of 2007 after a bout of Croup. He recovered from that but after that every time he got a cold he would cough till he vomited. And in November he was never able to recover from it. He literally coughed from November till March. Everytime the coughs would get bad is when he would vomit. He actually figured out a way to cough without it hurting him so much.
Avatar f tn Pneumonia is not contagious. But it is usually a result of some other kinda bug thats not treated resulting in that it causes fluid on the lungs, which takes a while to turn into pneumonia. If you arnt having symptoms of the original chest cold, or flu your fine.
Avatar f tn With treatment bacterial is cured in 1-2 weeks..viral will last longer. There are vaccines now .The type of anti biotic depends on the type of pneumonia she has , as she has only taken the meds for a few days I would continue as prescribed but if indeed she seems worse and her temperature climbs it may be aswell to have her checked out again ..
Avatar m tn Reasons for optimism regarding improvement are valid for asthma which is, by and large, a very successfully treatable disease and for uncomplicated (by other anatomical abnormalities) Bronchomalacia the natural history is one of improvement progressing to normality over time. Medical literature on resolution of wheezing or the Bronchomalacia itself generally suggest that this occurs by age 3 but with individual reports of resolution at an older age.

Avatar n tn He said he was not going to put them back in place. He gave me a script for 800mg of Motrin and 10mg of Flexeril then sent me home with only 24 hour instructions of what not to do during that time. Okay...so who do I sue?
Avatar m tn I would just make sure that you get it taken care of right away don't let the symptoms go for any length of time without being treated to be honest i would go back to the doctor for maybe a shot of antibiotics if that's what the doctor prescribes that is pneumonia is horrible i would be scared of getting it again

Avatar n tn s possible that the lungs ARE clearing and your not aware of it because of the continuing cough.....In this case, the Antibiotics are doing their job.... Avatar n tn My wife had our first child two weeks ago and he was diagnosed with SVT - WPW. He's being taken care of by an amazing team of doctors at Children's Hospital in Boston. My question is more about dealing with his condition once we get home. My wife and I are going back to work and we're concerned about sending him to day care. What have people done? Any recommendations/advice? My son will be in the hospital at least another week to 10 days before becoming an outpatient.
Avatar f tn just got my results and i am negative :) i had so much of the symptoms maybe partly because of anxiety and panic.
