Avatar f tn I googled complicated grief and found information at the Mayo.com site. "For some people, feelings of loss are debilitating and don't improve even after time passes. Avatar m tn I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Although I can't answer your question. I am sympathetic. My husband died of a heroine overdose 1.5 years ago. It's a tough road but hang in here and talk about it. Frief can be very difficult.
Avatar n tn I had a TIA in 2006 but seem to still be experiencing some memory loss. I still forget common words fairly frequently and sometimes my thought patterns feel confused. Is this a normal side effect of a TIA? My doctors told me there is no brain damage and thus no side effects but I seem to experience them. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Particularly this long after a TIA? In response to another post, my MIAs showed nothing as well.
Avatar f tn s puppy was hit and killed Christmas night in front of her and she held this puppy while it passed on. Needless to say, she is so stricken with grief. I have talked and talked to her and I am concerned for her. I know that during these times we get stressed to use and she needs everyone's suport and love on this forum as she is best known here, not the social side. I am sure many can relate to this heartache however due to nature of the death, she is blaming herself.
Avatar f tn The loss of a child is an especially difficult type of grief, and there are resources on the Internet that may help, such as Grief Haven, Compassionate Friends and the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. I wish you well and let us know how you do.
Avatar n tn When I lost my dad ten years ago he was the first person I'd lost that I was really close to too. I took it very hard. I remember thinking I would never smile again I was so terribly sad. Sometimes I'd wake up in the morning and just for a moment would forget that he was gone but I would suddenly remember and as you said, it was like getting hit with a brick.
Avatar f tn I was a caregiver for my 75 year old dad, and was there through the whole process of his death. Over the course of months I saw him deterierate terribly... stopped eating... couldn't barely get from his recliner to the bathroom to bed on his own. I was there when he couldn't eat anymore, he had a stroke, seemed in general like he was suffering even though hospice helped his pain and fear with medication.... He died a week and 4 days ago, and I'm still in complete disbelief.
424839 tn?1268186246 From this perspective, we must seek our goal and mission in something that transcends birth and death, something that we can give our whole life to. Only then can we tap the inexhaustible potential of life. In other words, we must advance beyond the mere struggle to stay alive and be prepared to ask ourselves for what purpose we live our lives.. While it is important to win, it's even more important to remain undefeated no matter what happens..
Avatar f tn I'm right there with you.
Avatar f tn I'm sure that many of us on this site that have been addicted to pills have had friends that are addicts that have not been able to stop and have paid the utlimate price. i'm 68 days clean from methadone and a 15 year opiate addiction. In the past 60 days i have buried 2 of my friends. Both died "pill related" deaths. Both had kids the same age as mine. The childrens grief is almost too much to handle.
1689024 tn?1308326866 Oh, my deepest sympathy for the loss of your brother. For all of your losses. This does not sound fair at all that you've lost so many. I lost my mother 16 years ago and it forever changed me. I miss her terribly each and every day . . . even 16 years later. With all that has happened, it is expected that you are going to have some low times. Grief is hard and can last without a time limit to it. It is hard to tell what is grief and what is depression.
Avatar m tn I can't help with the diagnosis, but I do sympathize. The young age of 52 adds to the sadness. Being the one to discover the dead person just adds to the pain. While it was not my brother, I discovered a neighbor who had died in his front yard from a heart attack. I believe that added to my sadness from loosing a good friend. This forum may have some experience that directly relates. I don't know that the vicarious veins is related, but I doubt it. My sympathy.
Avatar n tn autopsy was done Vet says it was not hypothermia as she was warm and there were no other signs. The autopsy showed 1 lung to be completely collapsed. What was the cause of death ? Any suggestion?
10363722 tn?1409603189 No sympathy from me! You goofed up! I read these posts very carefully. Words you choose really tell it all. You are not even fully owning up to what you did. You said you "borrowed" a narc. And, I don't believe you were in enough pain anyway. You made it to your sister's house just fine. And you "forgot" to bring a pain pill? I think you went to your sister's, and wanted to try her Percocet! I call BS. As far as what your doctor will do? Who knows.
Avatar f tn as I know alot of my MH friends are as well... I thought it would be cool to get some of our favorite quotes in one place.... So, here's my first favorite and I'm sure I will post others later.... Can't wait to see yours as well... " If you can't convince them, confuse them!" -HARRY S.
Avatar f tn My very deepest condolences on the passing of your beloved furbaby cat, dear friend and also your brother. Avatar n tn Communications with deceased family members or friends take many forms including seeing them, hearing their voice, feeling them touch you, smelling their cologne, perfume or a favorite flower, sensing their presence or experiencing signs such as electronics turning off and on spontaneously, finding coins in unexpected places with the year of their birth or death, and seeing the deceased in vivid dreams.
Tbd Having gone through therapy after my loss, the specialist in grief said that our mind protects us. And this is a good thing. The feelings after a death can be so intense that one can't function (me). Overwhelming loss can be too much to handle at times. Especially on days like an important anniversary. It was their recommendation to make it a special day for myself. In the early days of a traumatic loss, it's okay to take measures to make sure you get through the day.
Avatar f tn ve learned to go on with just her memory, but the grief of losing my sister is totally different. She was 3 years older than I and one would think after 5 years, I'd be past it, but as my therapist said, I'm still grieving. I kinda feel foolish writing such a letter but will do it since my therapist thinks it may help, and I shed tears every time I start to write it. Has anyone else had experience with this?

424839 tn?1268186246 In the first place it provides us with the courage to challenge both life and death. It enables us to see death not as some terrifying unknown but as a normal phase of existence that alternates with life in an eternal cycle. Second, it teaches us to treasure the life we are now living and to try to make it as worthwhile as possible.
