Avatar f tn But, currently, you need to continue taking symbicort. Whenever you feel that you are going to get an attack of asthma, start ventolin. You need to stay away from all kinds of allergens like dust, pollution, perfumes etc. Till now, you must have observed that after eating or being in contact with any food or chemical you get an attack of asthma. Please avoid all such materials.

746512 tn?1388807580 Symbicort has a counter, too. When it gets to the yellow area time to refill prescription...haha. I've also had problems because my Proair was low. I agree that rescue inhalers should have counters...people don't have running tallies in their head as to how much they've used. If Symbicort and Advair have them, I don't see why Proair, Proventil, etc can't. It doesn't make sense to me, either.

Avatar f tn Today I saw specialist about my asthma and he told me my chest is tight and gave me Symbicort Turbuhaler. I looked all the information I could on the inhailer, but I am still unsure what he means by my chest is tight. When my asthma bothered me as a child I was too off in my own world to understand what it meant. I just knew my mum told me I had to use this puffer. So my self knoweledge on asthma is not that great. Thank you in advance for your responce.
920032 tn?1550680156 Hi, I used to be on Qvar and Ventolin, I recently changed doctors and explained to my dr that I had been needing my ventolin up to 10 times per day, even if all I was doing was sitting on thr lounge. He prescribed me with the symbicort turbuhaler and I have one puff off this once a day and in the past 2 months that I have been on it, I have pretty much forgotten that I am asthmatic, even through the extreme cold in the last couple of weeks.
Avatar f tn Is it normal that I experience air hunger (shortness of breath), chest pains, and dizziness even though I'm on Symbicort (2x daily) and Ventolin (supposed to be 4x daily, but only take it 2x, or when needed)? I've been diagnosed with asthma last month and I haven't had my appointment with a specialist yet. I find the inhalers help a lot, if I don't take them I experience worst symptoms of shortness of breath, chest pains and dizziness.
Avatar n tn I also take sleeping pills. I had a persistent cough that would not go away so my regular doctor prescribed Symbicort & Advair Inhalers. Ever since I am inhaling the sprays my cough has stopped. I went to the emergency room two days ago with shortness of breath and weakness and they discovered my Potassium level was too low. I know I have a lot of health issues but is this really all about asthma & allergies? or is there something else wrong with me? How do I get better?
Avatar n tn The only problem is breathlessness arising from throat tightness. I never wheeze in the life. The throat tightness is getting reduced when i take Ventolin. The doctor say i don't have to take ventolin beacause Fomertrol+budesonide and Motelukast+LC. will prevent the difficulty. But only medicines which seems to be working is Ventolin and Motelukast+LC. When i tried stopping Motelukast+LC my throat tightness increased.
Avatar n tn The pulmonologist gave me ventolin and then he gave me Symbicort 80/4.5. I only used it for a week because it raised my resting heart rate. I have had episodes of Ventricular tachycardia so I am afraid to use the symbicort. I wonder if Singulair will help?
Avatar f tn This pregnancy, my asthma has flared up for weeks and has gone from moderately severe to severe. I just saw my pulmonologist for the first time today, and he prescribed me Symbicort, which is safe and I was not at all concerned about. I now have monthly appts with him to monitor my asthma throughout my pregnancy. My question is: Did an increase in severity of your asthma cause you to become high risk?

Avatar m tn hi, I have had chronic asthma since I was 3 months old. Over the last couple of weeks my asthma has been a little rocky, probably due to allergies. On the weekend, I was out with some friends and took a few puffs from a cigar we were sharing, but didn't really inhale any of it. Since then my chest has been super tight and I've been coughing badly, and my ventolin and symbicort don't seem to be helping. Will this heal in time, or do I need to go to the hospital?
Avatar m tn Initially it started with allergies, then asthma.....initial days my ventolin and formoterol inhalers were working, but last 3 years it is not helping much... I checked FEV which is 68% of predicted...but no significant increase in FEV1 after bronchodialator.... Every day I feel little tightnes, even if I take symbicort...daily moring and evening..... saw pulmonologyst 5 months back, he suggested to continue with the same+singulair.... Feeling very desprate....please help with some suggestions.
Avatar n tn I'm a 44-year old female, with asthmatic allergic response to cats since childhood. I smoked off and on from 18-39, about 5 pack-years. I've lived near a cat (outdoors with access to my husband's study) for 18 years, and have treated my asthma with albuterol, adding ventolin when necessary. About 12 weeks ago I caught bronchitis, then wildfires broke out near my home that made the air unhealthy for about 2 weeks. This provoked a severe asthma attack -- for three weeks.
Avatar m tn I have a change that needed to be addressed, The steroid inhaler mentioned above: "Ventolin by GlaxoSmithKline" is incorrect and should be Symbicort 80/4.5 2 puffs BID.
Avatar n tn I would see your Dr and get a script for any type of athma med vs. self-medicating. Could be something ventolin might be able to help, but may need more or less and only your Dr can really help you with this . ... it's hard online . WELCOME to our Asthma Community!
Avatar m tn I have shortness of breath and pain in the lung/ back area. I am on spiriva, symbicort, ventolin, levalbuteral, and 800 ibuprofen. This has been going on for 5 months. X- ray was clear two months ago. All blood labs and cultures clear. My doctors do not know what to do for me? I'm constantly tired and in pain and short of breath. I'm 25, and should not be this sick!
Avatar n tn I have had numerous courses of antibiotics such as Amoxicillin 500 but the infection has not cleared up. I take my Symbicort 400/12 inhaler twice in the morning and twice in the evening and I also use my Ventolin inhaler frequently throughout the day. This condition is really affecting my quality of life and I wondered if anyone can suggest what treatment might improve my condition. Thanks for any suggestions.
Avatar f tn She has put me on Ventolin (to use as required) and Symbicort (one puff in the morning and one in the evening) to assist me with my breathing until I recover from this cold. I am seeing my usual GP next week but I am very concerned that this could be a sign of COPD as I used to be a smoker for 22 years and quit 4 months ago . Can someone please give me some advice?
Avatar n tn and has prescribed me with ventolin. This does make breathing easier but can I become dependent on it even once the virus has gone? Many thanks in advance for advice.
