symbicort

746512 tn?1388807580 t being well controlled. Has your Pulmonary Specialist ever recommended a Corticosteroid with an LABA? Symbicort for example includes both Pulmicort, as well as an LABA called Formoterol. Another example is Advair (Flovent/Salmeterol). I would definitely recommend seeing your Pulmonary Specialist.
1987536 tn?1337916244 He actually switched me from advair to symbicort, and from albuterol to xopenex. 24 weeks now and my little girl is doing just fine. They do need us to give them oxygen, so take your meds if you need to.
5037123 tn?1362663006 One idea is to google - possible side effects of Advair. Possible side effects of Symbicort. See if one of the side effects of either Advair or Symbicort is pain between the shoulder blades. Based on what you find out, I would have a conversation with your doctor. Only a suggestion. I'm sure there are other asthma medications besides Advair and Symbicort which may be a better match for you. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I was recently diagnosed with early copd. Since I do not have health insurance, i go to a clinic. The physician's assistant has prescribed singular for my copd, I don't feel that it is helping me very much. I mostly have shortness of breath & coughing in the evening. This disease frightens me because I don't feel I am getting the right medical advice. I asked about simbicor & spiriva and was told that those meds are for later stages of copd.
Avatar n tn it seems like advair is making my asthma worse. i started taking advair like 7 month ago and it seemed like for the first few months it was working but i had to become dependant on it everyday or else i would start weezing nonstop. after that my weezing was worst than ever and i started noticing that after i used advair my weezing was much worse. i saw this thread yesterday and now for a day and a half i havent used it and i feel alot better.
Avatar n tn The combination medications which include inhaled steroids and a long acting broncho dilater like Advair, Symbicort and Dulera are standard treatments for all forms of COPD. They are also used to treat asthma which cannot be controlled on inhaled steroids alone. Have a blessed New Year.
Avatar f tn i got put on pulmicort and foradil that did wonders for me and last month i got put on symbicort which is a combo of the pulmicort and foradil. Maybe symbicort would not cause you these symptoms?
Avatar m tn So while they do not have the same medications, the medication groups are the same. So id Advair was helping you, Symbicort should also help you. Please discuss with your doctor. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history.
757137 tn?1347196453 Because of serious side of effects of both Advair and an inhaled steroid that did not contain salmeterol, I now rely solely on a nebulizer and an antihistamine. I take supplements to reduce inflammation and thin mucus. I have moderate COPD and am doing fairly well, but would benefit from a longer-lasting medication. Any suggestions? This discussion is related to Advair Skip a Day.
959034 tn?1253671476 Hi, I'm almost in the same boat as you, if my need for steroid goes any higher. But how many puffs/day of symbicort are you taking? I'm allowed to take up to 8/day of symbicort 200 on a regular basis. That is the beauty of this one. Unfortunately Symbicort doesn't come in a stronger dose,as I was informed by my specialist. The only other one that is stronger is Advair 500...but you can't up the number of puffs on that one like you can with Symbicort, so it too is self limiting.
Avatar n tn Another approach might be to avoid these two combination drugs, Advair and Symbicort, and substitute individual inhalert for each of the two drugs (the inhaled steroid and the beta-agonist). You could then reduce the dose of the beta agonist but, unfortunately that could not be done with a metered dose inhaler; would require the use of a nebulizer. You should also discuss this with your doctor. I mentioned individual sensitivity to the beta-agonist class of drugs.
Avatar f tn Maybe you could try Symbicort instead of Advair and it will work better for you. Do you use a spacer with all your inhalers? You might need one to make sure the medication is getting into your smaller airways. I would also say exercise because that will help increase your lung function greatly. Besides that make sure you are taking lots of vitamin C, D, B6 and magnesium. Lastly, breathing exercises everyday can help you feel less short of breath.
Avatar f tn Advair Discus is a dry powder medication. It has large particles of powder that land on the vocal cords and irritate them. While inhaled steroids can cause this problem on there own, I have found the the dry powder medications are much worse for this. As a fellow singer, I recommend that you try the HFA version of Advair or Symbicort. Symbicort tends to be a little cheaper. It works great for most people, but I didn't metabolize it well at all and nose dived on it.
Avatar f tn DO I ALSO NEED TO BE TAKING SYMBICORT OR ADVAIR? WHAT CAN I DO TO TRY TO MANAGE MY COPD BESIDES QUIT SMOKING WHICH I HAVE CUT DOWN TO A HALF A PACK A DAY. WHICH IS ALL THAT I CAN ACCOMPLISH NOW. WHAT CAN I BE DOING TO BETTER CONTROL MY BREATHING WITH WHAT I HAVE ON HAND?
Avatar n tn I have been using symbicort for years without a single problem. It does the same as Advair and has the long acting bronchodilator with the steroid. It has been a life saver for me, as I would have absolutely no life without it. Plus I get very bad asthma exacerbations with infections, so I was told to never to go off of it. Symbicort is a good alternative to Advair, but unfortunately it too is expensive.
757137 tn?1347196453 I developed serious side effects (severe bronchitis and choking) using Advair 250/50. (I had been using Advair for several years.) I started skipping the occasional dosage, then I skipped a couple of days. I tried taking it one more time and had a serious choking episode. So I stopped using it altogether. Will I suffer withdrawal, and what form will it take?
Avatar n tn does taking advair make mucus that you cough up and mucus from from your nose turn white?
746512 tn?1388807580 Symbicort has a counter, too. When it gets to the yellow area time to refill prescription...haha. I've also had problems because my Proair was low. I agree that rescue inhalers should have counters...people don't have running tallies in their head as to how much they've used. If Symbicort and Advair have them, I don't see why Proair, Proventil, etc can't. It doesn't make sense to me, either.
1425157 tn?1311651679 I would guess that it is the medication. I was fine on Advair, but had horrible reactions to Symbicort. After the first week the reactions stopped. Take care and feel better. It would be wise for you to read as much about asthma as you can. An informed patient is an empowered patient. your doctor relies on you to be able to communicate well about your symptoms and how your medications are working. I have had to bring ideas to the table many times.
Avatar m tn Do you take any kind of medicine for your asthma? I have asthma myself and used to have sharp pains when I would take a very deep breath but since I have been useing Advair ,I haven't done that . There is only one draw back to Advair and that is, it is expensive even with my insurance the copay on it is over $50.00 a month but it does improve my breathing so I guess you fight one evil with another.
746512 tn?1388807580 However this could just be due to the lack of consistency in my test results to point at asthma. I am trying advair 250/50 right now, and it has improved my symptoms 90% within an hour of the first dose (minus one very stressful day that sucked and I couldn't breathe). However, I have always been very healthy and thus took coverage off of prescription drugs 2 years ago because I've had maybe 10 mild antibotic prescriptions in my 20 year life.
Avatar f tn I had allergy shots when I was younger and thought that would be it, but apparently I was wrong. My NP changed Advair (due to cost) and gave me samples of Symbicort and Pulmicort inhalers to try, gave me a shot and antibiotic RX. I just hate taking all this medication. I will try to get in a routine with my nasal rinse, maybe that will help and guess I could see if I need to get back with an ENT to possibly start shots again.
Avatar f tn Finally my doctor diagnosed pneumonia and put me on antibiotics, Avamys and Symbicort. Unfortunately, either the Symbicort or the Avamyst has given me a fungal infection in the throat (and beyond ... it seems to go down quite far). This was not too unexpected as Advair gives me horrible thrush that lasts for months. My question however is, if I stop taking the Symbicort and the Avamys will the thrush go away, or should I go see my doctor to get anti-fungal stuff (i.e. Nystatin)?
Avatar n tn Common COPD inhalers that contain steroids are Advair, Symbicort, Breo and Dulera.
