I have had breathing tests that shows my lung capacity is 65%. I just started to take Symbicort. Could the Symbicort be raising my blood pressure, or is it all in my head? When I take my BP a couple of hours after taking Symbicort its high.
My Meds are:
Crestor 40mg
Amlodine 5mg
Synthroid .250mcg
Lisinopril 40mg twice a day
Zolpidem 10mg
Metoprolol 50mg one & 1/2 pills twice a day
Symbicort 80/4.
Did an increase in severity of your asthma cause you to become high risk? I know this baby is measuring way smaller than my last one at this time and i was just curious of anyone's personal experiences. I don't mind being high risk I'm just trying to prepare myself for what is in store for my OB appt tomorrow.

I have been taking symbicort for about 8 months and in that time i notice that my weight has gone up by around 1 stone (14llbs), i have never been overweight and have always eaten healthily and taken exercise. No matther how many times i go to the gym or how much salad i eat it wont go away. None of my clothes fit me and i have gone up a bra size or two.
When I was pregnant, my asthma attacks suddenly kicked up in winter - cold dry air is always bad for me but the pregnancy was making it worse. I started to take Symbicort, it helped a bit - my OBGyn was OK with that medication, you can mention it to your doctor. Not a miracle cure though.
The Albuterol inhaler (blue spray?) never worked for me and it will also get my heart racing very badly.
GERD can aggravate asthma because stomach acid can reflux into the lungs and irritate them. This is especially true when you're lying down. Symbicort can cause increased acid in the stomach, which can be a problem if you already have severe GERD. This may be contributing to your increased breathing problems at night. Zantac and Prilosec might take a little time to work, and if the Symbicort is causing an increase in your stomach acid, it could be harder to control the GERD at night.
will be starting on champix and will be done with ciggarretes in 2 weeks but i was told if i take ventalin and smoke pot it could kill me and i currently take symbicort and ventalin (salbutamal sulphate) but i asked a nurse about if i was to smoke sum pot one day if i didnt take the ventalin all day would i be ok and she said yes but i would like a professionals information so my question is it ok for me to take symbicort and smoke on occasion?
I am a 46 years old triathlete. I was diagnosed with asthma when I was in high school and had a cold and exercised. It wasn't a problem and I only used the inhaler a few times. I have been training for 1/2 ironman triathlon race and went to see an allergy doctor. I found out I am allergic to quite a few trees/bushes etc -- hayfever. While there the doctor tested my air flow a bunch of times. She said I was quite a bit lower than expected, especially for the amount of exercising I do.
In the past 16 days I have begun using Spiriva in addition to the 2 doses of Symbicort I was using daily. Although I get good (better) results from the combination than Symbicort alone, since starting the Spiriva, I am experiencing very dry mouth, and nasal passages to the extent that I occasionally experience light bleeding when I blow my nose.
What you describe is probably being caused by the inhaled steroid (ICS) in these 2 preparations fluticasone in the Advair® and budesonide in the Symbicort®. And, it may be dose related, so that the first step would be for you and your doctor to consider reducing the strength of the ICS. You may be able to get optimum therapeutic benefit, with diminished side-effects, at the lower dose.
The antibiotics alone will predispose you thrush, the steroid in the Symbicort will also . Do you rinse your mouth after each use? I find that if I don't do this, I too get thrush. Simply rinsing my mouth after each use prevents the yeast from coming back.
Taking probiotics because you are on antibiotics isn't a bad idea either, or eating yogurt with active cultures.
Also, are you able to just leave a message with your doctor and have the medicine called in to the pharmacy?
My maintenance medication was recently changed from Symbicort 160/4.5 once a day to Asmanex HFA 200mcg due to high blood pressure and heart rate issues with the Symbicort.
I'm on day 3 now and ever since I started Asmanex I've been experiencing a productive and incessant cough. The coughing is worse immediately after using the Asmanex.
I recently developed some PVCs (heart palpatations), and I would really like to use a long term asthma controller in place of the symbicort that does not have increased heart rate as a side effect.
Are there any somewhat effective asthma medications (long term controller, not rescue inhaler) that do not have increased heart rate as one of the side effects?
I would really like to know, because I hate taking that symbicort.
For the past few months my pupils have been doing this thing where one will move toward the edge of my iris (up and in). The doctors said that they think that I have tonic pupil with tadpole pupil occurring once in a while. However, my issue doesn't seem to match the description of tadpole pupil since it's not a segment of the pupil that gets pulled to the edge of the iris (hence the tadpole shape), rather, my whole pupil stays perfectly round and moves toward the edge.
My husband is using Symbicort and now has a very sore throat. He told me that once or twice he has forgotten to rinse is mouth out with water. I also found out that he does not use it every 12 hours, he is using it twice a day but maybe about 9 hours apart. I am wondering if his sore throat is caused by the Symbicort and what can I do for it, I am giving him throat lozenges and pop sickles. This has been going on for about 4 days now and he has been on the Symbicort since July 7th.

No pressure numbers were provided in the cardiologist report. My COPD is severe FEV1 45% but DLCO only 35% and I am fully O2 dependent. I can walk a mile but have to rest as I still desaturate on 6L O2. Recently started Symbicort inhaler and systemic blood pressure went up 180/108 and was wondering if the med would be likely to raise pulmonary pressure as well.
Excess mucous production in the lungs is one of the symptoms of asthma. Some asthmatics just produce more mucous then others in response to an allergic reaction. The best thing to do is drink lots of fluids to keep the mucous thin and exercise regularly to help move the mucous from the lungs.
I started a new Job in October and ever since then I have had difficulty breathing and some days I lose my voice almost totally. I have been in and out of the Dr and now using Symbicort and taking prednisone. It is wierd this only happens during the week while I am at work. Weekends seen to be fine after a little time away. Is this Asthma or am I alergice to my workplace? Should I test the air quality?
